AW: WiFi SIP phones
Try a Nokia E61/E62... Version 3 supports SIP and WiFi and they have a big battery that allows long talking and standby times. SIP Options
Hi All, I have been reading through the list quite a bit, and I am going to post this more as a poll than anything else. I am working on setting up a very small business with something that resembles a professional voice system. My idea is to use Asterisk with a SIP provider and SIP clients. I currently have a Vonage account already. So adding the 9.99 a month Soft Phone would be easy.

BroadVoice outgoing works - now tackle caller ID
Hi, I got a broadvoice "business" account under the byod(bring your own device) program. I have applied the patches and created new asterisk debian packages. I have the account working on inbound and outbound. The problem area is outbound caller ID. I have 3 other accounts with IAX2 providers and have no problem setting the caller ID on outbound calls. I called them and they

G722?
In a recent interview someone from Digum indicated that the G722 wideband codec was being worked into Asterisk. This will make Asterisk compatible with Polycom's new HDVoice products like the IP650 phone. This is very interesting, potentially exciting, but it brings up certain questions. Who will benefit as long as calls must typically pass into existing PSTN infrstructure, and so be

Codename Pineapple - Chan_sip3 - what's the status?
Friends, I have gotten a few questions lately on the status on the Codename Pineapple project, the project that hopefully will produce a more stable and SIP compliant SIP stack for Asterisk. Due to lack of funding, it's postponed until further notice. I have a few sponsors, but not enough to be able to dedicate time to work on it. And since Digium hasn't made up their minds after

RE: Cisco 7960 upgrade to SIP
I recently upgraded a Cisco 7960 to the SIP firmware, it worked fine without a "call-manager". I just put the SIP firmware and associated config files in the TFTP directory of my asterisk server so that the phone could pull the firmware off of my asterisk server via TFTP. It took me about 5 minutes maximum to get the phone working with SIP through asterisk. NO Call-manager was used in

SIP <> GSM
I'd like to add a device to my Asterisk server to leverage my cellular account. Does anyone on-list have experience with hardware gateways vs using cah_bluetooth and an old cell phone? I'm considering something like http://www.mobigater.com/index.php?p=5 Thanks, Michael -- Michael Graves mgraves<at>mstvp.com blog.mgraves.org o713-861-4005 c713-201-1262 sip:mjgraves at

How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
Ok, I've done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box... What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my Vtech normal cordless phones) What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I

Another State Of The Punctuation Mark question - Vonage
There was a flurry of "Vonage is going to unlock SIP" activity last year; did anything productive ever come of it? Are *you* using your Vonage lines directly into Asterisk? In lieu of that, for a 4 line small business that doesn't need to pay Vonage $150 a month, who? Broadvoice? Someone else? I'm a touch unimpressed with the fact that BV's website *won't quote you

broadvoice connection problem
All, I signed up for a broadvoice BYOD plan over the weekend (very excited about their offering) and after about an hour I had asterisk registered and was making in and out bound calls. However, the next day (without changing anything) I couldn't call in or out and haven't been able to get it going again. I can connect using a softphone (X-Lite) and make calls in and out

H.323 vs SIP?
OK. So it would appear that my quest for FXO adapters unconvers more, and certainly more mature, H.323 based devices...not so many SIP devices. What would be the benefits of SIP over H.323 for a small office * server? All I need to do is bring 4 POTS lines into * with Caller ID, make outgoing local calls reliably without undo echo. FWIW, my * server is Fedora Core 1 on AMD XP2500 with 512 MB

Covad anyone ...
Has anyone done any integration work with Covad's hosted solution ? I am considering Covad's hosted solution and want to be able to use Asterisk to develop some other apps. Anyone else tried this ? how did Covad react. I know they use MGCP. Another thing, the Cisco reseller rep tells me if I have a bunch of 7960's setup for MGCP (for use with Covad) I will need to get these

slightly OT: Polycom SIP phones
How difficult is it to change the firmware load on a Polycom phone from MGCP to SIP? I have a number of 500/600 phones and see some used phones being offered with MGCP installed. I have the SIP firmware but have never had to migrate between content loads. Any expected gotcha's? Michael Graves -- Michael Graves mgraves at pixelpower.com Sr. Product Specialist

Dual Line SIP config to the same provider
Hi, I have a setup where I have multiple lines to the same provider - in this case broadvoice. I have created the entries in sip.conf for both accounts - and independently they work fine. When they both are in use, incomming calls are placed to the one that's the last in the sip.conf file. On voip-info I found the following: *Quote:* When Asterisk receives an incoming SIP call, the SIP

WIP-5000 SIP Settings
Hi All, I'm the happy new owner of a Hitachi WIP-5000 Wifi SIP handset. While getting it working with * was not a problem it does occasionally get too lagged for the default SIP settings. If I'm on a call then it goes silent for an instant until it returns to <1000 ms lag. It's funny that SIP SHOW PEERS reports the phone at 780 ms lag most of the time. Even so calls don't sound
