Will 200KB/s drive access be OK for voicemail storage?
I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router and it works great but it only has 4MB of storage. One of my only options is to modify the router to accept SD cards (eg. 512MB) but the access time is only around 200 KB/s. Will this be fast enough to store voicemails? ...or do I need another (faster) storage device?

The High Performance Echo Canceller (HPEC)
I recently read about the following new technologies from Digium. Has anyone tried the new HPEC or knows when it will be available? TDM800P and HPEC The TDM800P is an 8-port analog telephony interface card, so it fills the gap between Digium's 4-port and 24-port cards. Analog phones and POTS lines are going to be with us for some time, and demand for support for them remains high. The

Activate/Deactivate Hardware echo cancellation on TE406/TE411 when briging
Hi, How would one activate/deactivate hardware echo cancellation on the TE406 card? Can it be done per channel? I'm going to run TE406 in the following scenario: ISDN -> TE406 -> PABX I understand from Steve Underwood's site that echo cancellation is not good for faxes (and they do that themselves). So what I want to do and bypass echo cancellation for selected extensions before

Testers needed for VoIP router solution
Hi all, We have put together a firmware for a range of inexpensive routers. It has been configured to provide optimum VoIP performance. We have internally tested it for number of months and it looks very good. You should be able to run it easily with 20+ phones on local network ( we still did not hit the upper limit ) assuming that you have bandwidth. Your VoIP will get prioritized over other

iax2 can't listen on virtual interface
Can anyone shed some light on this, I have two asterisk boxes using heartbeat for failover. Sip traffic works just fine with the virtual IP but IAX does not. For example on my servers one server has the following: eth0 = 192.168.1.95 eth0:0 = 192.168.1.2 the other server has: eth0 = 192.168.1.220 if the first "Master" server goes down the second server will take that virtal IP for

TE420P/TE415P?
Hi, I just read a pressrelease from VON that Digium will soon be releaseing a couple of new cards. What got me interested was: "The TE420P and TE415P support 128ms of G.168 (2002)-compliant echo cancellation across their entire 128 channels." Does anyone know when thease will be released and what they will cost when released? Thanks!

Help! - Double NAT issue
Hi folks. Please don't flame me but I've been googling around for days, read a tremendous amount, tried everything, and still no go. This is most definitely a typical newbie question. - I sure hope there's somebody(s) out there who'll humble themselves to help me out. I've set up an 'out of the box' basic Asterisk server running on Slackware Linux. - It basically

NFS Performance
Hi, With help from Oleg we got the right patches applied and NFS working well. Maximum performance was about 60 MB/sec. Last week that dropped to about 12.5 MB/sec and I cannot find a reason. Lustre clients all obtain 100+ MB/sec on GigE. Each OST is good for 270 MB/sec. When mounting the client on one of the OSSs I get 230 MB/sec. Seems the speed is there. How can NFS and Lustre be tuned

How can I use my regular phones with Asterisk running on my Linksys WRT54G router?
Ok, I've done some more research and I don't think I want an FXO box... What I'd like to do is use BroadVoice (with their BYOD plan) and then run Asterisk on my WRT54G router. I'd also like to use my regular home phones without having to use a special "SIP" phone... (eg. I like my Vtech normal cordless phones) What do I need to buy to get this working? It sounds like I

I've been googling and cruising the list and can find bits and pieces

Asterisk behind OpenSER - Getting SIP reinvites to work with an ITSP
I'm using Asterisk (1.2.14, RedHat 9) but I've been having trouble with SIP re-invites. I have a DiD from an ITSP and when someone calls in, Asterisk plays a menu recording and transfers the call to the external line the caller selects. Since both sides of the call are external, I want to use re-invite to avoid the rtp packets from going through my server after the call is bridged. I
