Router Recommendations Please
Hello all, We've discovered that VoIP (IAX2) + Citrix + Video is pegging the measly CPU on the Netopia router our ISP provided. We've got 3Mb/3Mb and will increase to 4/4 next year. The Netopia simply breaks out our WAN IPs, and we've got a switch hooked up to it on the inside (Actually I've got a QoS box in-between). ------------- | Internet | | on Cat5 | -------------

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
Grasping at straws here...is anyone using a Dell PowerConnect 2224 24-port unmanaged 10/100 switch in a deployment? I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500 phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1.5

T100P HDLC configuration
All, I am trying to configure hdlc support on T100P Digium card - everything seems ok... but it just does not work at all. I was able to compile all drivers, the light on the card becomes green when I plug T1 link.... but I even can't ping default router IP... there is no data coming back to me, so I am confused completely now. Also I tried both protocols - raw hdlc and cisco hdlc. The

Grandstream GXP-2000 Poor sound Quality
I have upgraded the GXP-2000 to the newest firmware 1.0.1.12<http://1.0.1.12>and the phone is much more usable However, I still have two slight sound quality issues: 1) There is static on the line at all times. It is not that noticable to me, but when I make calls out the PSTN the person on the other end hears it. If I use a Cisco ATA with an analog phone and call the same person again

who's in charge of the fortune d/b?
I haven't found who does it for RHEL/CentOS yet, and there's a wrong attribution.... --------------------- Fortune Begin ------------------------ I'm N-ary the tree, I am, N-ary the tree, I am, I am. I'm getting traversed by the parser next door, She's traversed me seven times before. And ev'ry time it was an N-ary (N-ary!) Never wouldn't ever do a binary. (No

GrandStream Budgetone Phone & DHCP & General Observations
Symptom: Phone after about 15mins will stop functioning Problem: DHCP lease renewed but default route dropped Fix: Assign a static ip and problem is resolved. Upgrade to new firmware once it is released It turn's out that these phones have a few issue in 1.0.3.81 firmware. The phone may stop transmitting packets if configured with DHCP, if DHCP is being provided by certain devices. Netopia

Spacing of text does not match spacing of bars in barplot
I have a very standard barplot. My labels are too long to be printed horizontally under each bar, so I am using text to put the labels on a 45 degree slant. However, the labels are spaced more narrowly than the bars, so on an 8 vertical bar plot, the end of the eighth label is lined up with the seventh bar. Preferably I don't want to do every text label separately (I'm having this

Successive Graphs
Hello! I have written an R script on a Windows platform where I calculate eight result matrices I plot using matplot. I would like to display the resulting plots successively, rather than simultaneously, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to do this. The graphs pop up in this manner by default when I run my script in S-PLUS, with tabs separating them so I

mixing u32 and fwmark
Hi! There is one thing I can''t do. In my country we have to pay for "foreign" internet. Local internet is cheap and fast, but foreign is slow and expensive. So I want do following: mark every packet with iptables, where --set-mark 1 for foreign internet, but --set-mark 2 for local internet next when I got all traffic marking, I need to assign traffic to users so I make

Samba, the GPL and SCO
For those of you following the IBM vs SCO legal case, you have probably noticed that SCO has said that the GPL is invalid. IBM appears to make the reasonable case that you can't say something is void, and then rely on it. INAL, but why is SCO allowed to distribute Samba without agreeing to the GPL? That's like buying a car, then claiming the sale agreement is bogus but you still want

trimmed mean in R seems to round the trimming fraction
subject: trimmed mean in R seems to round the trimming fraction to r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch. Consider the following example of 10 numbers. 10% trimmed mean is correct but you can see that the result is the same for many trimming fractions till 0.20! For example 13% trimmed mean should use interpolation of second and eighth ordered observation. R does not seem to do this. The correct 13%

call center - operators not using phone keys
Hi, I'm considering setting up a small call centre, but I don't want operators to need to use their phone keypads. Supposedly, all required call functions (dialling, answering, transfer, on hold, hang up, etc), should be done via their scripts (be is a web interface, curses or whatnot) and not using either a regular phone, nor a gnome-phone type interface. Also, all this will be happen

Client with tinc
Hi! They have in my university a Cisco VPN solution. Unfortunatelly, if you are cuban, irakian, iranian or a couple of other nationalities, you are not able to use it (sic...). I would like to study the possibility to install tinc as client. I've read that "There is no real distinction between a server and a client in tinc". Would tinc work as a client with the Cisco VPN? S-Plus compatability...
Dear all, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction to solve a problem I've encountered. I have a set of S-plus scripts which call an external program to analyse the data (the external program is called Genehunter and is used for genetic analysis). There are a six scripts in total, five of which are called from the main script. I made a few changes like changing

extracting p-values from lmer outputs
I would like to write a function that runs GLMM using lmer on a user-input model containing interactions, but if the model doesn't produce significant results for the interaction, a reduced model will be run without the interaction. Doing this seems to require getting the p-values out of an lmer object, but I don't know how to do this. (The grand DF debate seems to be irrelevant since the
