Asterisk 1.2.12.1 dies after asterisk -rx and never comes up again
Hi list!
I recently upgraded to FreePBX 2.1.3 although I am not sure if this has
something to do with it.
I do a nightly restart of Asterisk, just in case. This has been working
fine months but since a few days asterisk seems to die and I am not able
to restart it again, I keep getting a socket in use message.
This is on Asterisk 1.2.12.1, Zaptel 1.2.9.1 and Libpri 1.2.3

GSM Gateway behind SIP ATA?
I have an analog GSM Gateway that is connected to a normal SIP ATA device.
Basically what it does is this : when you call the extension nr. of the
SIP ATA port, the GSM Gateway will pick up the phone and presents a (new)
dial tone, and then dials whichever DTMF tones it received. The SIP ATA ia
a Grandstream HT286.
I would like to use the GSM Gateway to route my outbound cellular calls,

how to limit size of dovecot.log
I've done some searching and maybe I'm missing something... I have a
remote dovecot and postfix server running on debian 5. I then have a
local fetchmail server that retrieves email from the dovecot server via
pop3s every 5 minutes.
The problem is that the /var/log/dovecot.log file has grown to be over
1.1GiB over a period of less than 1 year.
Is there a way to limit the size of the

Permission denied when logrotating dovecot.log
Well, I tried the same but it didn't work.
Setting my dovecot.log to 600 with root:root is breaking my mail system.
I am then unable to receive and open emails.
Had to apply an ugly hack
/var/log/dovecot*.log {
su syslog syslog
create 666 syslog syslog
rotate 10
...
}
Like that anyone who wants to access/write to it, can do it and all works.
That's my

Extreme delay before * processes call files
Hi list!
I'm using Asterisk 1.2.7.1. with FreePBX 2.0.1 on a CentOS 3.7 box.
On the * box I also have a samba share where our CRM app can dump call
files and a cron script is moving the call files every second to the
asterisk directory.
Everything goes really quickly, the call file is placed on the samba share
and very quickly moved to the asterisk dir, so far so good.
But then the call

logrotate /var/log/maillog
Hi,
I want to create a new log /var/log/maillog for postfix each day and so
i created a new logrotate config for the log and removed it from
/etc/logrotate.d/syslog.
~]# cat /etc/logrotate.d/maillog
/var/log/maillog {
daily
rotate 31
start 1
compress
create 0600 root
postrotate
/etc/init.d/postfix reload > /dev/null

configured 2 extensions, 6000 and 6001.
My problem is that when i try to call from extension 6000 to 6001, i
hear this msg "Im-sorry&an-error-has-occured" and the call is
terminated.
As expected if i call to another number i get an error.
i thought the problem might been related with the NAT but if checked

Intel Atom based Asterisk server?
I currently have some Asterisk home servers on general pc hardware as well
as a mission critical server asterisk pbx running on a Dell 2850
To reduce noise and power consumption i would like to migrate them all to
an Intel Atom based solution, showstoppers so far were single NIC and
single PCI slot motherboards. I found that Supermicro makes a Dual NIC
board with one PCI slot and 2

Asterisk 1.6.1 and dahdichanname = no
I am using FreePBX with Asterisk 1.4 and i wanted to upgrade to Asterisk
1.6.1.
As FreePBX only supports ZAP naming i set dahdichanname = no in my
asterisk.conf.
However, after installation the console was still merrily chattering about
incoming calls on DAHDI channels and nothing happened because all the
ZAP stuff was ignored.
Are all Asterisk versions (1.6.0, 1.6.1 as well as the soon to

missing file in logrotate config

This seems to be a limitation/defect of logrotate itself.
At first you had just log.rpcd_spoolss, and at first logrotate run
it rotated it to log.rpcd_spoolss.1, - now you have 2 files

Sort logfiles at rotation time
Hi,
I want to be certain that my apache and varnish logfiles are in strict
date order when rotated. I'd like to run a sort command against them
before they're compressed.
I've had a look at the logrotate man page, and it looks like I can use
a postrotate/endscript to do this. However, I can see any reference
in the documentation for how to operate on the file. All the examples

FreePBX: using context other than the default context and the generation for the configuration
Hi All;
If I set a context other than the default context, then I do not see a generation for a configuration in the extensions_additional.conf for this context, but always the generation for the configuration is for the default context (from-internal).
Normally, I have to put some Phones in a context and another Phones in a context, and give each context a privilages, but if I do this, then I

logrotate script not working
Hey guys,
Got a quick question and I hope this is an easy one!
In my /etc/logrotate.conf file I have the following entry:
# rotate all of the apache logs -- we'll rotate them here
/var/log/mysqld.log {
weekly
size 50M
create 0644 mysql mysql
rotate 1
}
And from that I would expect the log to rotate when it reaches 50M in size.
However I just caught that log weighing

read permission on rotated logs
When logs (e.g. /var/log/maillog) are rotated (e.g. to
/var/log/maillog-YYYYMDD) is there a way via systemd or whatever to
assign read permission to a specific group?
Right now, for example -
ls -l maillog*
-rw------- 1 root root 3105240 Mar 13 22:04 maillog
-rw------- 1 root root 1079031 Feb 24 04:39 maillog-20190224
