Virtual Box Host Networking problems
Dear Centos-Virt: This is actually a second request for help on the same issue. I finally got to try what several months ago was replayed to me and no joy was to be had. I am afraid the original thread got stale and also had extra, unnecessary data in it. Guest=XP Pro, SP2 Host=CentOS5; # uname -r; 2.6.18-8.1.15.el5 VirtualBox-1.5.0_24069_rhel5-2.i586.rpm

Samba in VirtualBox
Hello there, currently I have Windows on my machine because I need it for school. And because of my small hard disc (only 80 GB) I cannot install Linux. I have a magazine about Linux with an introduction to Samba. That's why I wanted to try out Samba. I downloaded VirtualBox and installed Archlinux. Samba is installed and I created a shared folder on Windows and on my Archlinux, but I

Climate data logger ... !
Hello everyone ... Before I give up and install windows on my HD as well :-) Maybe there is a solution. The program to read the sampled data in the data-logger can be installed and started using WINE without problems. But the driver (which is installed separately) which allows the Data-logger to be recognised by the program on the USB port, cannot be installed. Its name is "Silicon

Wine + winebottler + azloader.exe + rs232 to usb adapter
Hello guys. I am new in mac world and in wine apps. I have this singular situation: I have a macbook with wine and winebottler installed. I want to use this exe app: azloader.exe. Ok, wine is able to load it normally. But... the problem is, my macbook has not the RS-232 port. So I bought a RS-232 to USB adapter. I've installed the correct "drive" to use that. I've tried that in

USB Serial Port receives no data
Hello, I have an application that sends data out to a serial port, then should receive the reply. After some hassles I got the application to enumerate the serials (in a dialog box where you select the port), and after creating the link in dosdevices (in lower case I should note, wine will not recognize COM1) it actually starts sending out data (verified using a terminal on the other end). But

USB passthrough
I was wondering if there are any plans to address USB passthrough with Xen 3. I have virtualized Windows servers running under Xen on IBM BladeCenter, and need to assign USB ports to different Windows instances. The ports have copy protection dongles installed so that a specific package can be run on each instance of Windows. We have 2 dongles and need to assign one to one instance of Windows, and

USB to serial converters
Anyone have an idea as to how to automatically detect the USB number and create a sym link in the dosdevices directory. The problem is that I have several USB devices not used at the same time, and when the USB to serial adapter is connected, a /dev/ttyUSB? is assigned. To use this assignment under WINE, I need to automatically detect /dev/ttyUSB? and then create a sym link in

Polycom c100 XP software drivers on wine?
Hi, I know the answer is probably negative, but there's no harm in asking right? I have a Polycom C100 communicator and from what I can find about it, the real work done to make the audio as good as it is, is done in the software they install on Windows XP. It is a USB connected desktop handsfree mic/speaker device and it does work on Linux O.K. but I get some problems with echo when

HP laptops with CentOS 7?
Hi yeah, it's just a normal USB dongle, and it's supported by the Linux Kernel, that's why I tried it. I have tried other USB dongles with Linux before and failed. This one was plug and play. USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
I've several USB <-> RS-232 dongles around. As well as a few embedded devices. They all "Just Work (tm)" on Redhat, CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Raspian and Kali. Knock on wood - never had a problem using any of them. As the drivers are part of the kernel, I'd expect any distro using a recent kernel to do well. Wine + winebottler + azloader.exe + rs232 to usb, adapter
Ubuntu creates /dev/ttyUSB0 for me when I plug in the usb-to-serial-adapter. I have a symbolic-link to /dev/ttyUSB0 from 'dosdevices/com1'. What is new in 10.04 Ubuntu is that I have to sudo chmod o+r and sudo chmod o+w on /dev/ttyUSB0 every time before I start the app which uses that serial line. ttyUSB0 goes away when I unplug the serial adapter from the USB port or shut down the
