For some reason when I apply a function to a single row in R it works, but
when that same row is in a data.frame it does not, see below:

error : subscript out of bounds
Hi,
I'm trying to calculate euclidean distance for my matrix rx1. Its a big
matrix with 947 elements. However when i do the following,
for(k in 1:947) for(m in (k+1):947){
A =rbind(A,c(k,m,ED(rx1[,k], rx1[,m])))
}
I get the following error:
ED(rx1[,k], rx1[,m]) : subscript out of bounds
I checked for k in 1:100 and it runs fine; its a huge matrix and takes
atleast an hour to run before I

My telco used cat5 as well for the demarc to CPE. It's also with noting that
many channel banks, such as my Atlas, and zapata.conf itself also have
parameters to allow you to tune the gains to compensate for cable signal
loss. I've never had to touch them, and my CPE is about 300 feet from the
PRI demarc (with an ordinary Cat5 cable connecting them)

Shielding of T1/E1 cables WAS RE: Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
I was once told by a lineman that the cables they use didn't have that
many twists in them because it wasn't needed, and that the extra twists
would effectively use more cable and thus cost and weigh more than
triple what they do now. He told me that with the number of twists in
the Cat 5 cable it would cancel out any interference, but he also stated
that the effective length was

Help with perm.test please
Hi All:
OK, this is probably a stupid thing to do but.......
Say I have 706 controls and 6 treatments, and want to
do a basic two-sample permutation test. I could do a
monte carlo approximation but instead want to use
perm.test.
Now it happens that my data is counts with

SBC/ATT Supertrunk configuration
I have what my SBC/ATT representative calls a "Supertrunk," but he can't
tell me the specifics I need to know to configure Asterisk to work with
it.
By fiddling about, I've come up with the "almost working" configuration
below. This works except that it takes about 4 seconds from when the
console says the line is answered until it plays my prompt.

Wildcard TE110p initial setup
I'm not 'overly' new to asterisk, but I am very new to the Digium card / Telco aspect of it.
I was able to get a TE110p card, installed.. and hooked a t1 up to it. I'm using zttool to just look at 'some' output. Here is what it looks like when I just load it up:

package incompatibility under 2.5.0 (please respond directly, I am not on r-devel)
Dear all,
For my package "ref" I have implemented extensive regression testing. It now fails to compile since primitives "dim" and "dimnames" (and their assignment methods) no longer allow for additional arguments. I was using an additional argument "ref" with several methods. For "].refdata" it still works, with "dim.refdata" no longer.

R-beta: help with R simulation

I am a complete novice R programmer. (Though I know C quite well)
I am trying to write some R code to do the following simulation.
There is a 2-frame "movie" of noise and signal dots. the noise
dots have random positions in each frame. The signal dots are
placed randomly in frame 1,

T1 configuration, getting help via IRC?
In my * server I have a T100P, connected with a T1 crossover cable to an
Adtran TA750 with 2 FXO cards. After I do 'modprobe wct1xxp;ztcfg' the
alarm on the card starts blinking red. Running zttool confirmed that
yes, it is a red alarm. I've read a few previous posts on this type of
setup and I'm not too much closer. What should I be checking next? A
different cable? The

Effect size of comparison of two levels of a factor in multiple linear regression
Dear R users,
I have a linear model of the kind
outcome ~ treatment + covariate
where 'treatment' is a factor with three levels ("0", "1", and "2"),
and the covariate is continuous. Treatments "1" and "2" both have
regression coefficients significantly different from 0 when using
treatment contrasts with treatment "0" as the

Mongrel Memory Usage
All,
I''m trying to figure out the best way to estimate the amount of memory
usage that will be taken up by Mongrel and I''m hoping that you have
some estimates that can help me.
I''m currently estimating the following:
Memory Required = Number of running puppetmasters * size of manifests
* number of clients managed
The mongrel model doesn''t seem to *ever*
