T1 DSU's/Split for voice
Hello All, I was wondering if I could do the following on asterisk... Get a T1 between 2 locations, and split it into a data channel of like 1024, and use the rest for voice channels. Has anyone done this and had it working well? Or would I need to get a csu that allows a split into two interfaces? Regards, Greg

Anybody Configure Shorewall w/ Sangoma WANPipe T1?
Hi, I learned about shorewall a few days ago and am quite impressed with how easy it was to create a powerful firewall. I set up a test system with a cable modem and it worked flawlessly. I''m going to be building a Router/Firewall for a new T1 that will be using a Sangoma WANpipe card w/ integrated CSU/DSU to connect to a T1. Has anybody done this yet, or do you know if it''s

OT: "Integrated Access T1" voice problems - is this possible?
Hello, I am currently pricing out various T1 and PRI options for a client of mine. We need voice and data - we want T's. Whether it be two seperate T's, two superate fractional T's, or one combined fractional T, we need it done. We are getting pricing and one provider is telling us that they have quality issues with the "Integrated Access" product. From what they

Should I choose DSL @ 1.5 or a full T1?
I'm looking to expand my bandwidth for my Asterisk PBX. Why should I choose a T1 over DSL for my asterisk server? I found someone offering T1's for $290 a month + Loops or 3 Meg for $561 a month + Loops. Is this a good deal? Thanks Bart -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... ISDN config: LBO values
Hi all, When configuring Asterisk with an ISDN card, it will at one point become necessary to select the LBO (Line Build-Out) value. This is an integer (0-7) that is determined by the length of the cable and is selected from the following table. Many of us are familiar with it: CSU (dB) DSX-1 (feet) ------------------------------- 0 0 0?133 1

asterisk T100P to Merlin Legend
Management just approved purchase of a Digium T100P and a T1 card for our Merlin Legend Switch. I will appreciate comments from anyone performing this installation before: - Which T1 card did you use in the Merlin Legend? - Did you require any special interface? (CSU/DSU, etc) - Any items to watch during installation. Also we will need to remove one of our old analog Trunk cards to accomodate

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: whatcable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
The "telco guys" probably did something non-industry standard and reversed send and receive in the jack that they plugged the CAT5 into. Sure it works, sure it is easier, sure it is not the correct way of doing things. Identify call router? How?
I have a machine in my office, it is labelled Cable and Wireless, and on the back it says, SMarT-1 I have searched the web, and no joy. It connects to a PC via a serial cable, has anyone heard of such a device? -- ***** Not everyone is touched by an Angel.... .... Those that are, never forget the experience *****

Linux as T1 router
Hello All, I am thinking about using a linux server as a T1 router. I have searched the list, but have not found a discussion about what I''m trying to do. I have a situation where the Cisco router I''m using will not handle the additional bandwidth I added recently. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the Cisco unit that will. I would like to know if anyone has successfully done

Three (quick?) questions...
[Please excuse if this is a repeat; I initially tried to send it from a different account, and it's been held up for a couple of days awaiting moderation.] 1) What's the absolute minimum required (hardware-wise) in order to get one in-bound POTS line into Asterisk, and then have IP phones "inside?" [In other words, I obviously need a NIC -- but what would be the

Integrated T1
Can an asterisk box equipped with a Digium T1 card handle Integrated T1 circuits? I have a T1 with 768k data and the remaining channels voice, can the asterisk box do the Data routing + Voice processing? It's only going to support 4-5 users(the voice channels won't all be active obviously). ________________________________ This e-mail, facsimile, or letter and any files or attachments

* point to point t1 solution?
Can anyone point me to a reference or sample config for bypassing a nailed up (point to point) t1 between two PBXs with asterisk and a pair of t1 cards? Right now I have 2 Nortel norstars connected to each other via a leased line t1. I also have a solid 10mbps low latency microwave link between the 2 sites. My goal is to run an asterisk box at each end with a t1 card and Ethernet card to

Set-up for 2 Asterisk System
Hello, I will be setting up two asterisk systems and I'm looking for some suggestions as to what the best way to do this will be. The 2 systems are for 2 companies that share a single T1 line. The T1 line has 12 voice channels and 12 data channels. Currently, they are set-up as follows: T1 line from provider enters CSU/DSU and splits voice/data channels. The voice channels are sent to

* point to point t1 solution? / alternatives
This has been an interesting discussion for me (except for the sniping). The last post led me, out of curiosity, to this wiki entry: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+TDMoE I was unaware of this feature, and it looks pretty good. I've been pondering replacing some T1's by leveraging IP capacity but of course have run up against the QoS issue. My idea was different... I
