G729 license counting
Hello, How many licenses to buy?? : From what we understood from digium website, we must buy as many licenses as the number of maximum simultaneous calls using G729 Codec we wish to make. For example, If we want to be able to make a maximum of 10 simultaneous calls using G729 Codec, we must buy 10 licenses. Is it right? Thanks you

Can't get G729 working after buying a license.
List, I purchased 2 g729 licenses but I can't get it to answer a g729 call from a cisco router with a vwic card. In the debug output below you will see that asterisk thinks it only supports: (gsm|ulaw|alaw|h263) when it should support g729 according to the config also listed below. The real odd thing is I can place g729 calls to the router, just not from the router to *. Anyone have any

g729 license question
I am wondering how the g729 licenses are done during calls. If I have N licenses for g729, and N are in use and an additional call comes in that requests N+1 to be in use, how does asterisk handle that call? Does it dump it? Does it negotiate another codec automagically? Basically what happens to that call, obviously it wont (shouldnt) let you use more licenses than you have available, but

G729 license count...
I need a refresher course on how many licenses I need to buy. I have an Asterisk server that receives calls by SIP (G729) and then sends them to the PSTN via 32 Zap interfaces on an Astribank. I cannot remember if the license is per channel or per call so I do not know if I need 32 or 64 licenses for this application. Could anyone please remind me? -- Telecomunicaciones Abiertas de M?xico

G729 Licensing Revisited - I'm Sorry!
Hello Everyone, We are looking to transition our 23 channels from testing/lab into production. During testing we used the free open source g729 license using the instructions found here: http://blog.manhag.org/2010/05/installing-the-free-g729-codec-for-asterisk/ A little more about our setup. All recordings have been converted to G729, all voicemail messages are also in G729, finally

1.4 - G729 - Have License - No path to translate from Zap to IAX2
Hello Everybody, Since I upgraded to 1.4 I always get the difficulties as below, which I have never had in 1.2: [Dec 28 21:05:59] VERBOSE[1734] logger.c: -- Call accepted by 202.153.128.34 (format g729) [Dec 28 21:05:59] VERBOSE[1734] logger.c: -- Format for call is g729 [Dec 28 21:06:00] VERBOSE[1756] logger.c: -- IAX2/VoIPRakyat-2 is ringing [Dec 28 21:06:00] DEBUG[1756]

G729 licenses
Hi, all!!! What will Asterisk do in the following case: For example, we have 4 licenses, and have 4 simultaneous calls, using G729. Will asterisk allow incoming calls from peer, that can talk G729 and ulaw, and will it force it somehow to use ulaw in this case? All phones there in LAN behind Asterisk prefer GSM codec, so it does transcoding. So, what I mean is will Asterisk fall back to use

G729 and voice mail
I am trying to figure out the best way to deal with this. I want all of the calls in the network to be G729 and this is working. I do have hardware that provides me 30 g729 licenses. I am setting each extensions to disallow=all and allow=g729. However when I have this setup, I get no voice mail prompts. I tried setting to disallow=all and allow=g729,alaw and I still have no audio when calling

Upgrading Asterisk witk G729 license installed
I've an Asterisk 1.2.4 installation, where I've also installed the G729 codec license. I'd like to upgrade that installation to 1.2.5, but I'm not sure if I'll lost the license in the process (and if I'll be able to recover it later!!!). Is there any special consideration I've to keep in mind in this case, or should I just run the typical "make + make

Recently we are going to implement a failover solution for our customers using heartbeat, the asterisk server can failover perfectly, however the g729 codec canot work, because it is binded the mac address, we have bought two set of licenses, can you provide us some workaround for this scenario? g729 problem
Hi. I've searched the wiki and the newsgroup to no avail. We have a couple of grandstream phones and purchased seceral copies of the G729 codec for use with them. We registered the codec (first time) on a testing machine and it worked. We registered it on the production machine (second time) and it worked. Then the production system crashed. After reinstallation we had to

g729 encoder/decoder
How does the g729 encoder/decoder count in regards to the total number of licenses and how does it count an encoder/decoder? I looked on the wiki and don't really see anything that explains it. In other words, how do the calls below count (assume no reinvite)? g729 phone calls into voicemail g729 phone calls g711 phone g729 phone calls other g729 phone

G729 - how many needed?
I have purchased a single G729 license - however, how many are actually needed? All my IP phones have G729a codecs built in (Cisco 7960 / Zultys ZIP2) - I would have assumed that if the phones can do it, and canreinvite=yes, then the phones shouldn't need to go through asterisk anyway? For calls that do go through asterisk, is a single license required for each side of the stream? (i.e. a

How to force G729
We want some of our users to use G729, and some others to use ULAW. Our PSTN gateway provider supports both, so that's not a problem, and if I force him (the PSTN gateway) to allow G729 only, the outgoing call will take place with G729. The problem is that I want to have my PSTN provider configured to allow ULAW as a first priority, then G729. I did it like that: [mypstngate] type=friend

G729 Commercial Licenses.
Hi all, I have purchased 2 licenses of G729 from digium and has done the registration. It works well and is quite fine with my Asterisk@Home. Just want to clarify some licensing issues regarding them. If i had to do a full reformat of my PC and reload a@h again will i be able to use the licenses again without re-registration? If no. .Is there are limits for this? Please anyone clarify. Thanks

G729 - what happens if licences used up?
I haven't been able to find the answer online, and am not currently able to conduct an experiment to find the answer... I understand that in a SIP call where G729 has been negotiated as the preferred codec, a G.729 licence is not consumed until there is a need to perform transcoding, e.g. play a non-g729 sound, or do voicemail, or enter a Meetme, etc. What happens when a SIP call in progress

G729 license key registration
Hi, I have trouble re-registering a G729 license for Asterisk (bought 6 years ago) My license looks like: 10D2XXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXX Tried to re-register the codec according to the http://downloads.digium.com/pub/telephony/codec_g729/README document, but the register failed with this error message: You selected 5, G.729 Codec Please enter your Key-ID:
