Problem : Samba 3.0.2a as PDC with Win2000 Pro
Hi, all.... Honestly I'm a newbie in Linux. For a couple days, I've been trying to build my own PDC server. I've got enough manual resource for guidance, but somehow, untill now I can't log my Win2000 Profesional into the PDC server. I'm using Debian sid kernel 2.6.5, Samba 3.0.2a and a Win2000 box as client. I think there's nothing wrong with my smb.conf ( I guess...

Nvidia Drivers
When I load the latest driver from Nvidia in CentOS-3 the logon screen turn light gray and I can't log in. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do about it. If I use the driver that comes with CentOS I don't have any problems. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Problem with ownership of non-root files at destination
I'm using rsync to mirror my Sharp SL-5500 Linux PDA home directory to my Linux desktop over a TCP/IP-on-USB link. I'm running the following command as root on the 5500: /home/QtPalmtop/bin/rsync -av /home/zaurus \ 192.168.129.1::zaurus I'm running the rsync server out of xinetd. I have verified with 'ps' that the server, when it starts, is running as root. The files are

grandstream and stun
Hi, I noticed some issues with how grandstream handles stun test. GS is running version 1.0.4.50. First I reset the NAT router. Then reboot GS, get results of "restricted cone". Immediately reboot GS, get results "full cone". I tried quite a few public and commercial stun servers. Also tried different model/version of linksys routers. I always got the same issue. Winstun on

Re: NVIDIA on Linux
Hello scty library, I had huge problems with NVIDIA cards on Linux. The screen would go blank as soon as X tried to load. I only tried using the driver that came with CentOS. After lots of parts swapping, I found that the monitor (obviously) and (even) the motherboard make a difference. > If so what did you do about it. Finally, I gave up on NVIDIA cards -- I got a Voodoo Banshee

Re: : External access to voicemail
Hello steve. Here is a patch I wrote for app_voicemail.c which does exactly as you describe. When the outgoing message is playing, if the listener hits the "*" key, they're prompted for a mailbox and password, whereupon they can check their voicemail as if they were using the internal phone. I found no other way of doing this. If you patch your app_voicemail.c, I have V1.44 from

Messing around with iptables
Hello all, I am messing around with iptables, trying to learn how it works so that I can build my self a router/firewall and mabey a VPN. Anyway I tried to use a command on my Desktop CentOS3 machine. "iptables -A INPUT -s 127.0.0.1 -p icmp -j DROP" now the command seems to have went through because I didn't get any errors, but when I go to ping 127.0.0.1 I am getting a response

Legal issues
Greetings! I've been asked to set-up an Icecast stream / live webcam for a small club, and I'm worried about what kind of payments the owner would have to make to stream the club's music over the internet. I found this article: <http://www.copyright.gov/carp/webcasting_rates_final.html> but I still don't know what to make of it. Would we have to pay $0.07 per song the DJ

win32-taskscheduler alpha
Well, I''m going to release the first version of win32-taskscheduler today. For now, I''ve kept the API about the same as it originally was because I was spending way too much time futzing around and I wanted to get something out the door. For now, I''m calling this a BETA release, with the API subject to change. See the ''Future Plans'' section of

Problems with graphical devices, e.g., png(), pdf(): blurry graphical output
On my current home system, I am getting undesirable output from graphical devices such as png() and pdf(). The graphical output is blurry. I haven't experienced the problem on other systems. As you will see from the attached text file (more information on this file below), the problem does not occur when type='Xlib' is forced. The blurriness is more severe with bitmap output (yes, I am

R Graphs in Powerpoint
I've tried several methods in OS X, and here's what works best for me. Save the R graphic as a PDF file. Open it with Apple's "Preview" application, and save it as a PNG file. The resulting .png file can be inserted into MS Word or PowerPoint, can be resized, and looks good on either OS X or Windows. There are other programs available for translating the pdf file to png

How do you specify font family in png output; png cross-platform issues
For teaching purposes, I prepared a little R program. I want to give this to students who can run it and dump out many formats and then compare their use in LaTeX documents. I do not have too much trouble with xfig or postscript format, but I've really run into a roadblock where png files are concerned. My original problem was that the png device does not accept a family option. How can I

Does anyone know of any programs capable of fine tuning my screen display settings? I'm using the NVIDIA drivers, and everything is slightly blurry - regardless of how much (or little) I set anti-aliasing to.

Nvidia Driver and CentOS-3
Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board. It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset. I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine. It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. I have tried updateing bios, Kernel and Xfree. There is just something with this
