Re: CentOS 3.4 Single CD "Server" version
Hey,
Lance mentioned yum group install. This yum group
capability makes the "server" CD's more versatile than
the name implies -- you only need a broadband
connection to get any kind of CentOS install you want.
Start with a minimal install off the CD, and then use
the yum group install to conveniently get the same
install you could get off the 3 CD set (only more up
to date).

MD5Sum for CentOS-3.1 DVD iso?
Hello everyone. Thanks to everyone who made this project possible. This
is my first post, although I have looked at the archives. I haven't found
an answer to this in the archives, so I thought I would post it here.
I've downloaded the DVD iso for CentOS-3.1 from BitTorrent, and I'm
leaving my torrent open for another day or so to help out. I see there is
an MD5Sum file for the

yum stalls <?>
I just installed a fresh 3.3 system (because those are the ISO's I had on
hand). Upon running yum update, it starts to download headers and then
stalls. I hit Ctl-C and it continues to download about 4-5 more headers and
stalls. I hit Ctl-C again and it pulls a few more headers. Anyone seen
this and/or know how to fix it?
TIA

httpd trademark issue -- here it is!
Hey,
A "powered by RedHat" gif recently appeared on the
bottom of the mirror monitor (mirmon) page:
http://www.advanced-app.com.hk/caosity/
This appeared in place of the "powered by CentOS" gif
that used to be there.
The mirmon page is getting it from the icons directory
under the default html directory.
An Apache update in November put the new gif there in

how to convert 7 cd iso images into one dvd image?
Hi;
how to convert 7 cd iso images into one dvd image?
I am unable to use bittorrent :-(
Home ISP blocking bittorrent; company now blocks bittorrent.
I want/need an old release (CentOS 5.2) to install as a VirtualBox guest.
I suppose I could install from the cd iso images, but it is a pain to
virtually eject and remount cd iso images during the install :-(
So, is there a technique or an open

DVD install via NFS asks for CD #1 ISO
Hi all,
I'm installing Centos 5.0 (fresh install) x86_64 via NFS. I've
downloaded just the DVD iso via bittorrent, but when it starts the
graphical installation phase an error message appears telling me that
anaconda can't find the CD iso in the remote server.
Seems that's looking for Centos-5.0-x86_64-bin-1of7.iso, I'm downloading
it right now to go ahead but... I think

Centos 4.1 DVD ISO
Hi,
Does anyone knows of a place where one can download through HTTP (and
only HTTP) the CentOS 4.1 DVD ISO ?
I'm behind a firewall and have no chance of either getting it through
bittorrent or FTP.
Any help would be apreciated.

mirror.caosity.org change...
sorry for the massive cross-post, but I wanted to make sure that I get everyone
that needs to know this.
Mirror.caosity.org is having problems keeping up with all of the mirrors.
Rsync is a memory hog when dealing with large repositories, and mirror just
can't handle it.
I am migrating mirror.caosity.org to a new host which should be able to handle
the load better. Also, I will be limiting

Access to Archives
I just joined the list and am trying to look at the archives.
The page http://lists.caosity.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
has a link to the archives that resolves to
http://localhost.localdomain/pipermail/centos/
which of course produces an error "The connection was refused when
attempting to contact localhost.localdomain."

Diff files to be made publicly available.
I plan to highlight the differences
between RHEL and CentOS 3.1.
Making this information clearly available
without the need for duplicated effort across the world.
This will help others take CentOS in
different directions benefiting us all.
It will help individuals create new projects
more easily and efficiently.
Are the diff files readily available,
can I download them from anywhere?

Out of the woodwork
Greetings Everyone,
I finally got around to downloading and installing CentOS 3.1. Performed
flawlessly :)
Any of my whitebox friends still around here?
I've been extremely busy with work as of late....I'm still considering getting
involved with CentOS.

Apache
Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I
want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q
apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to
S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running.
So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed?
