Authenticate against NT Domain Group Membership
Hola folks, How do I configure a share under Samba 2.2 using DOMAIN security to allow all members of a specified NT domain group access to a particular share? For example, something like: [test] comment = Test Share path = /mnt/share/test nt group = Nice-users, Wonderful Users Where Nice-users and Wonderful Users are NT domain groups? So if User X is a member of Nice-users, she would be

SUQ: Share permissions
After parsing through the various bits of available documentation, I'm forced to bow before the group and ask the following Silly User Question: While I can create and set NT ACLs on files/folder, anything in the root of the share can be deleted by any user who has access to that share. I've munged something in my file permissions. What /should/ the file permissions for a root share

Yum update fails with GPG key
I'm getting ready to upgrade to Centos-3.1, but I have a database application that is having difficulty. It needs the libstdc++ libraries. When I run it, it generates the following message: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Well, this error doesn't look so bad, as long as I can run Yum on it and get the

Updating on CentOS-3.3
Sorry to be beating a dead horse to death here... but... in the archives, mostly the FAQ is mentioned, but the FAQ seems to be 'coming soon'. :) I just did a clean install of 3.3. I am operating from the command line. I first mistakenly ran.. been there done that on WhiteBox as well. :( rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY Got what I understand now is the expected errors. GPG Sig Error with CUPS
Hi Everyone, Sorry to post right out of the gate but I'm having problems running yum upgrade on a new centos 3.4 install. I performed a minimal install of centos, this means I did a custom install but unchecked everything including cups. Error tells me to clean or rm the file...tried both to no avail. Anyone else run into this issue? How do I get beyond it? The exact error is:

Samba as PDC across multiple physical sites
Does anyone have Samba set up to provide file, print, and authentication services across multiple physical sites? We're thinking of setting up a DSL-based VPN with Samba servers at each location, but we'd want to keep the user accounts and data synchronized between sites. Thanks, Chris

trying to recompile
Hi All, I am trying to recompile the stock kernel to include XFS. At install time of the OS I select to install the kernel source code however I do not have a /usr/src/linux-2.6.9-5.0.3.EL-smp directory. I then learned you must run "yum install kernel-sourcecode" to properly install the source. When I run the command this is what happens ( see below) . The error I get is: warning:

Samba Print Driver Errors
Hola folks, I'm experiencing a problem trying to get drivers to upload/download properly with Samba 2.2.5 and CUPS. I've read the various HOWTOs and have managed to get drivers to upload, except that it errors out, saying that it was unable to apply the changes. The driver files do successfully upload to the proper directory on the Samba server. If I try to do things by hand:

NTLM_AUTH "require-membership-of" local groups?
I'm running Samba 3.0.9 on Fedora Core. I can authenticate against global groups via ntlm_auth, but authentication against local groups fails. Our network consists of multiple NT 4.0 domains. 1. Can ntlm_auth authenticate against local groups, or is it limited to global groups? 2. Can multiple global groups be designated as arguments to 'require-membership-of' in an 'OR'

Samba 3.0 + OpenLDAP 2.1 Saga (LDAP Attacks!)
Oh Wise Ones, For the past two days, I have contested with the Samba documentation and other sources of lore in a vain attempt to achieve Samba/LDAP integration. My test system is running RedHat 9 with updates applied, along with OpenLDAP & OpenSSL from redhat-rawhide, and the Samba 3.0.1pre1 RPM from the Samba website. A couple of questions: The HOWTOs instruct one to slapadd a file
