VMware Server clock woes (running too fast)
I'm running VMware Server 1.0.6 on a CentOS 5.2 host and am having some clock difficulties. Host OS is x86_64 running on 1.9 GHz AMD Sempron, nVidia chipset. Guest OS's are 32-bit FreeBSD (clock works fine after disabling ACPI, setting the clock source to the PIT, and running the guest tools), WinXP (unknown clock status), and i686 CentOS 5.2 (here is the problem). I've tried pretty

audio disappeared after ztdummy install
All too common and largely undocumented. I had this same problem. Installing ztdummy changes Asterisk to use it for timing of playback, apparently. Removing ztdummy "fixed" the problem. To get it all to work, I had to upgrade to to at least kernel 2.6.23.11 (previous versions are either missing options are just broken.) After doing this, I recompiled ztdummy and it worked. Note

centos 5.1 x86_64 and ztdummy
Anyone out there using Centos 5.1 asterisk (ztdummy) x86_64, 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5 kernel? I seem to be having problems with simple playback on asterisk(). If I do the normal service zaptel start (my configs have 0 hardware cards for asterisk) ztdummy is loaded and when doing a playback() I head no audio. If I unload ztdummy and do the same I hear playback. Please dont jump the gun hear and say

Follow-up on Fast clock under VMWare
Hi everyone: Just a follow up on the fast clock issue: "Can you double-check that 'cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq' outputs the same number as your 'cpuKHZ' setting in your config.ini file?" There is no cpufreq directory under /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0; all I see is "cache" (dir), "crash_notes" (a file) and

Stable clock with 2.6 and without Digium hardware.
Anybody sucessfully got stable 1000Hz clock without Digium harware and kernel 2.6? We need to consult some peoples how to clock asterisk stable with exactly 1000 Hz without much kernel/drives patching/tweaking. Some test results we made so far: 2.6 with digium card - stable 1000 Hz. 2.6 with ztdummy - uses RTC and the clock is 1024, not 1000. 2.6 with some Realtime kernel patch - provides stable

Fast clock under VMWare
Hi everyone, I have been struggling with having the clock of Linux VM's (including CentOS 4.6 and 5.1) running very fast under VMWare, no matter what I have tried. My platform: - AMD Turion X2 TL-60 - AMD 690 chipset with integrated Radeon x1250 (probably doesn't concern in this case) - Windows Vista Ultimate x64, all Windows Update patches loaded (no SP1 yet) - 4GB RAM - VMWare

MAKEing zaptel and ztdummy on SuSE 9.3 - Repost
Hi, Sorry to re-post, but I'm still having hassles with ztdummy. I'm using kernel 2.6.11.4-21.7-smp and Asterisk 1.0.8 on SuSE 9.3 The first 3 makes (see below) for zaptel work out ok - but the ztdummy.ko (etc) files *are* created even though I haven't yet uncommented ztdummy in Makefile. If the ztdummy bits are compiled, why edit Makefile & run make again? modprobe ztdummy

modprobe Ztdummy is not working
Hi, I've install zaptel and I don't have a Digium card installed in the machine. So I want to install ztdummy to have Music On Hold working. I've follow these instruction http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+timer+ztdummy and at the point "modprobe ztdummy" it's failing. I'm getting these messages: root@dubic:~# modprobe ztdummy FATAL: Error inserting ztdummy

Zaptel card AND Ztdummy together?
I had a weird (unforeseen) situation today. We have a remote office with an * server and ISDN 10 service. We connect to each other over an IAX trunk with G729. Today, some of Sydney experienced a power surge which knocked out their ISDN services. Without a clock source on their PRI card, my IAX calls to them resulted in one-way audio (they could hear me, but I not them). Is it possible to load

ztdummy build problems
Hi all, Trying to build ztdummy on an old redhat 7.3 box running kernel 2.4.20-43.7.legacysmp. Yes, I have the kernel sources installed. Yes, I set them up with make oldconfig; make dep. The build error is: make ztdummy gcc -I/usr/src/linux-2.4/include -O6 -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -I/usr/src/linux/drivers/net -Wall -I. -Wstrict-prototypes -fomit-frame-pointer -I/usr/src/

MeetMe & ztdummy
I'm running into a bit of a problem setting up conference calls. The box I rent at a colo doesn't seem to have USB hardware.... When I try to load usb-uhci I receive a "device does not exist" error. Which means I can't load ztdummy.... The system has a rtc clock module, so zaprtc won't work... (which I'm scared to unload rtc because I don't have physical access

ztdummy won't compile
For both the latest CVS and the packaged distribution. I dug up the patch that Jean-Denis Girard posted to the list fall 02 to fix the usb problems with the 2.4.20 kernel but that won't apply (not a big suprise). Is this code already integrated? Any other know issues with ztdummy? This is on Suse 9 (kernel 2.4.21-99 SMP). Here's a quick snip of the errors that are thrown when I
