Calls being disconnected across VPN
Hey All,
Sometimes we are running into issues with calls randomly being
disconnected. We have a couple of phones is in a remote office. We
have a PIX-to-PIX VPN setup between the offices. I know neither of
these devices provide QOS but we usually don't run into any problems. I
notice this problem when we are in a conference call with one of the
employees at the remote office and a

QoS & VPN
I've got multiple satellite office all linked back to the main office
via VPN. Each office has their own asterisk server which registers back
to the main office's Asterisk server. Each office also has a 1Mb
downstream / 384k - 768k upstream connection. The branches are using
Speex for their connections back to the main office. The issue I'm
having is that there are times that

1.4 Random disconnects
Hi,
We just upgraded to 1.4 and I'm noticing weird issues. I have noticed
that asterisk stops running and I need to restart in order for us to
receive calls. We receive our calls via a local sip provider over a
dedicated T-1. We never have had an issue before until the upgrade to
1.4. It seems like asterisk gets hung up on a certain call and dumps.
Anyone else noticing anything like

Inexpensive device for bandwidth management
Hi,
I'm looking for a good network device that does bandwidth management. It
can be integrated in a router or stand-alone, but must be SIP-friendly.
I`ve tried the DIR-655 (latest firmware is SIP-hostile, and the latest
hardware revisions can't downgrade to the version that worked well) and the
DI-724GU (SIP-friendly, but bandwidth management is automated and not
configurable

looking for input on broadband router with QoS and VPN support
Hi,
We're installing an * box next week (pbxtra from fonality) and I'm
trying to come up with a solution for remote users that want a phone in
their home. I need VPN and QoS capability, wireless support would be a
nice to have. Ethernet handoff is fine, i don't need integrated dsl or
cable modem...
I've been googling and cruising the list and can find bits and pieces

Headsets
Hey Everyone,
We are in the process of reviewing headsets for use with our GXP-2000s.
I'm looking for some feedback as to which headsets people are using, the
pros and cons of those headsets, and if they would recommend them to
someone else.
Any help would be appreciated...

small qos switch
I have multiple locations running * where all the phone are
on their own lan and all the data is on a separate lan.
The problem is they are sharing the same dsl connection.
The locations are IAX2 trunked together, but it only takes
one data down/up load to just kill the voice.
What I am looking for is a small switch with QoS that I
can stick in ahead of the dsl modem. Plug in one connection

Asterisk and SIP phones
I have Asterisk server providing phone service for my company.
The server is behind a PIX-515 FW and is assigned a private address
192.168.11.X/24.
With that said what is best to provide remote SIP phones (home offices)
securely.
If the solution is to put up another Asterisk server with a public IP
address I am opposed to that.
I am looking for the a secure reliable solution to set up remote SIP

TCP port, VPN and resolving the cutting voice problem
Hi All;
Can I run the IAX on TCP port instead of UDP port?
If I ran IAX in TCP port, and in case my network was having a lot of users doing browse on the internet and downloading, so in that case and if the IAX used TCP port, so the voice will be better than using UDP (because in TCP the lost packets will be resend while in TCP it will not which will cause the voice to be cutting)?

QoS and IPSec...
Hi, I have what to me is an interesting issue. I am wanting to
prioritize (QoS) traffic that will be passing through an IPSec
(OpenS/WAN) VPN between two (identical) Linux routers. I know that I
can apply the IPSec patches (1-4) to the kernel and IPTables (if they
are not already applied by now) filter traffic before and after IPSec
encapsulation. My problem is that I don''t know

Agent Question
Hi, All,
I have a question about agents and queues. Right now we have about 4
queues in our system. Some agents are in multiple queues. Our main
queue is for technical support and it's by far our busiest queue as
well. We have the autologoff feature set to 14 sec right now in the
agents.conf file. The problem I'm running into is we don't want people
in our sales queue (who are

SSO across multiple physical subnets
Hi,
I?ve been reading up on SSO-based logins for the last couple of weeks. I?ve
found a lot of information about it, but nothing that matches my situation.
Here?s the gist of my situation...
- I have a Samba 3 PDC in our corporate office as well as three remote
offices.
- Each remote office is in a different physical building and connected to
the Corporate office either via Point-to-Point T-1

Asterisk and Monwall - comments
Just got a net4501 board, installed cf card/Monowall. Does anyone have a
monowall firewall with Asterisk behind it, any problems, can external SIP
phones work?
What firewall rules are you using?

Router for SOHO network - hardware considerations
Hi,
Last week I finished installing a small network in a private school :
one server (an old IBM X225), seventeen desktops (Fujitsu Siemens PIV
2.4 GHZ, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD), all running CentOS 5.5.
One extra machine is acting as a router, in that it is installed between
the DSL modem and the network, with two Ethernet cards, and it's taking
care of DHCP, DNS, NTP and also acts like a

Use of VPNs
Hi all
Is the use of a VPN between IP-PBX and VoIP Provider a useful tool?
Since the QoS and general traffic of the Internet can never be
predicted, would the implementation of a VPN between Client and VoIP
Provider increase voice quality and/or security or is the converse true ?
Thanks

creating a static route (SUSE 10)
Hi,
We have a shorewall firewall running on SUSE 10. We have three nic''s, Lan, DMZ and Internet. We also have a Cisco Pix 506e. We moved from sending all our traffic through the pix to using the Suse box yesterday. The PIX is in the DMZ, with a connection to the LAN switch, the idea being that VPN users can connect to the pix to the lan.
The Pix is on the 10.0.1.x subnet, the lan is

Keeping data on 2 servers in sync !
I want to build 2 servers (both running samba) to provide file storage to 2
offices (approx 100 miles apart, linked via DSL) but all data writen to 1
server must also be saved to the other server.
Both servers would also allow users to access the data via a VPN thus
allowing 1 office with a failed server to access the other server via the
vpn and still see the data from both offices.

* and Cisco routers
I am completely new to * ( I know read the archives but this is a little
different case)
I am trying to setup a Sip system out side my security firewalls for home
users. I currently run a Cisco avvid solution internally but it's highly
firwalled. I am planning on building a pri out of my 3745 cisco router and
pluging it in to a 3810 which is on the outside setup with sip and running a
