sendmail/RPM question
Hi all - I've got a regular problem that i've been fixing by hand for a long time but i'm hoping i can get some advice about the right way to solve it. I replace the default redhat/centos sendmail configuration files with my own set. I have always just done this by hand. One thing I do is completely whack submit.cf. when i update the system, RPM recreates this file. I've

OpenSSH on RH SPARC
Anybody made OpenSSH work on a SPARC machine yet? I managed to get OpenSSL to compile correctly, via a patch to fix the location of perl (on RPM based systems, it will almost always be in /usr/bin/perl, not in /usr/local/bin/perl), and a small patch to the spec file to allow for SPARC builds. That RPM is built and installed without any errors that I can detect. OpenSSH is failing during a key

CentOS 7 "compose" process
I am looking for documentation on the CentOS 7 "compose" process, specifically, the tools and scripts that generate the LiveOS image contained on the DVDs, as well as whatever produces the final DVD iso image files (mkisofs + isohybrid + ???). I asked on the -devel list, and the suggestion was to use this list instead. As far as I can determine, Fedora does this via pungi, but I am

how to get ASUS USB-N13 802.11n net adapter working on 5.5?
first, the short form of the question -- has anyone got that wireless adapter working on centos 5.5 and associated with an access point that uses WPA/WPA2 security? and the details. in a classroom where there is *no* wired networking at all, all PCs have only that wireless net adapter, which works fine on windows but, after installing centos 5.5, unsurprisingly, we have no networking. there

Request for ACL experiences
I'm having trouble with ACL's and wonder how many others are too. I see conflicting answers and comments about different aspects of ACL's from many prople on the list. I was wondering if ANYONE is successfully using ACL's with Samba 3.0 or above. Questions I have that I'm sure many are asking are: Was your Samba server configured as the DC? What client OS were you

What is Judy?
I am trying to build Miredo 1.1.5 (http://www.remlab.net/miredo/devel.shtml.en) I have followed the rpmbuild instructions from: http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/, and have the miredo source in ~/build/miredo-1.1.5. I run ./configure (as the INSTALL text file tells me to do) and get the error: checking for Judy.h usablity... no checking for Judy.h presence... no checking for Judy.h...

centos 5.1 i386 on a 1GIG flash
I have found this link http://owlriver.com/tips/tiny-centos for installing centos on a minimal system. I am looking at putting centos on a 1 GIG flash drive. The above page talks about removing packages after install to attain the small size. however, I am getting blocked at the install page about not enough room to install. All I have selected is the base package. nothing else. Is there a way

R-3.6.2 make check fails
You're definitely missing bits of texlive. Lots of "missing file: mf" in your debug logs. I think you need to start with installing texlive-metafont. Alternately, there are pre-built R 3.6.2 packages for EL-7 here: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1421894 I cannot push them as official updates to EPEL because of the catch-22 created by R's dependency on

Problems with building an rpm
I followed the setup instructions from http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/ (link from the Centos wiki). All this is done on another 'clean' system, so I have to read the terminal screen there and tell what went wrong here. I then followed my colleague's instructions to get the tar, untar, autogen, configure, and finally make rpm. Well it was that make rpm command that finally

OT - Automated rpm builds
Hi Currently devs check code into perforce and we have to checkout > package > update repo > deploy I know this could be scripted but are there any tools out there that can take code from a repository and build rpm's in a continuous integration type manner? I have been hunting around for such a tool and so far not seeing anything obvious as i dont want to reinvent the wheel if

about pxe booting, no boot filename found
hello, I have a problem about pxe booting. I have two isolated machines, one(server) has got dhcp and tftp servers working correctly ( I am pretty confident with this). The other machine (client) using floopy to boot with pxe-request. The problem is, the client cannot get the bootfile("/tftpboot/pxelinux.0"), it always report no boot filename found. I also found the IP address, which

latex writer in gnome?
Does anybody know the gnome program that you can write in latex with please? I'm not sure but I think its in the base repo. Its not winefish as it (winefish) doesn't compile the source text like the program that I'm looking for does. Hopefully thanks Sharon. -- 16:41:46 up 1 day, 16:56, 2 users, load average: 1.54, 1.45, 1.51 A taste of linux

How to create an R RPM from source
I use some computers that run older versions of Redhat Linux such as EL3. RPMs for the current version of R are no longer provided via CRAN for these older operating system versions. How can I compile my own RPM for the current version of R, which I could then use to install R quickly and easily on multiple machines? Perhaps the answer to this would be a useful addition to the manual R
