Ethereal is cooking, thanks
Just blanked on it. Thanks. It seems so obvious, as soon as Denis mentioned
the gnome-ethereal package I realized what I had neglected.

What is the update version of CentOS-2?
I'm pretty sure that I'm not asking the question correctly, but I'd like to
host a database that is supported with RedHat Enterprise Linux 2.1 with
Update 2 (Q2 2003), so I'm assuming CentOS-2 fills the bill. However, when
I run this application, I get some weird CPU cycling that I can't trace to
any specific task.
So, perhaps my install is not as current as I think it is. I

Yum update fails with GPG key
I'm getting ready to upgrade to Centos-3.1, but I have a database
application that is having difficulty. It needs the libstdc++ libraries.
When I run it, it generates the following message:
error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
Well, this error doesn't look so bad, as long as I can run Yum on it and

Capturing Packets -- Ethereal
This may be off topic, but I think my ethereal question might be simple enough.
I am presently compiling ethereal on a CentOS platform to check it out.
But the packets I want to monitor are actually on a different CentOS platform, and I'd rather not install Ethereal on it, if for no other reason I don't have X-Windows installed on that platform.
My question is, can I monitor/write

Ethereal plugin for IAX2
As mentioned on the devel list earlier today, I'm interested in writing
an IAX2 plugin for Ethereal to make debugging IAX protocol
implementation and simultaneous calls on normal networks easier.
Anyway, I started work on it this evening, so it's not complete yet, but
it's starting to look quite sensible:

RPC error logging in to PDC on Win-64
I've upgraded one of my client boxes to Windows 64 bit edition but now it cannot login to the Samba PDC, instead it gives a RPC error after entering the password. The Win32 boxes can still login fine.
I can get accounts without admin rights to login but those with the rights are given a message stating "The system cannot log you on due to the following error:

[Bridge] tg3 bridge problems
Hello,
I've got a very strange problem. Lately I've been setting up my linux
servers for network (layer2) redundancy with a bridge interface containing
two ethernet interfaces connecting to two switches. So far I didn't have
any problems with it, but now a very strange thing happens with a new
server I'm installing. The server is an ibm x346 having two onboard
BCM5721 cards, the

ethereal log of PXE bootup
Hi,
I'm considering adding a PXE Boot Server to a tool I have (uCon).
Anyone out there have an ethereal log of an entire PXE boot transaction
between client/server(s) they could send me?
Thanks

IAX2 Ethereal Plugin initial release
Lots of people seem to want this, so I've stuck it up here:
Note that it currently only does IAX-2. I might expand it to cope with
IAX-1 at a later date, but no promises. It's fairly basic - unzip the
file and follow the README instructions.

Questions about some Ethereal/log output and spoolss
My user observable errors seem to now be gone but I am seeing some behavior that may need to be looked at. There are error messages in Ethereal and in the logs like "_spoolss_getprinterdataex: Invalid keyname [DsDriver]". First I'll give the brief history and then more details below.
I started a new install on FreeBSD 5.1 using samba 2.2.8. I compiled with CUPS (1.1.19). Printer is

Poor performance on open/copy/close/rename file operations via remote/VPN connection
Hello,
I have Samba version 3.0.24 running on a 2.6.14-gentoo-r5 x86 kernel
(xeon 3ghz, 1gb ram raid 5).
All clients accessing samba shares via LAN have no problems. Samba
server works perfectly and fast.
We are instead experiencing serious performance issues when accessing
samba shares from remote clients (WAN), via VPN.
Simple operations like "open a file", "copy & paste a
