Re: nVIDIA solution
Hey SCTV Library, Good work! (Is that your real name?) > The problem was the AGP driver, Not the Nvidia driver. I was wondering if you could help me write an informative FAQ for this. Here is what I have so far: The Nforce2 driver is part of the kernel-unsupported package (which must be installed separately). Set the Option "NvAGP" to "1". This tells the kernel to

FreeBSD 4.9-PRE+ nvidia
Hello all. I have the same problem as described by Dmitry a day ago in a topic similar. I am able to use x11 with base driver "nv" but when I load "nvidia" driver, startx simply crash my machine and reboot after 5 seconds. I have a similar log file as reported by Dmitry even using startx+logverbose option. XF86Config file is similar, except it is not the same nvidia video

nVIDIA on CentOS 3.3
Hey, I tried it. The short answer is that nVIDIA cards are OK for text, but may not work at all under X. I downloaded the 3.3 ISO's, and burned new CD's. I did an X desktop install on a test bench P3 600 MHz system with a 4.3 gig drive. I did the install with a known-to-work Voodoo Banshee card to get the system going. I used a Mag DX1495 monitor, which I know does not to work on

Nvidia Drivers
When I load the latest driver from Nvidia in CentOS-3 the logon screen turn light gray and I can't log in. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do about it. If I use the driver that comes with CentOS I don't have any problems. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Half-Life sound problem
Hi, finally got HL to run at 1024 in opengl. But there are some things which i'm not happy about: 1) Sound lags about 1 sec after the game, EAX doesn't work. 2) Some fonts don't get found (which messes up the scoreboard). I'm running Mandrake7.2 with kernel 2.4.2 and XFree 4.0.1 and nvidia's 0.9.6 drivers. Some things i've found out so far: Using the nvidia agp driver

Nvidia Driver and CentOS-3
Ok, Well I have narrowed it down to my mother board. It is a Biostar mother board with an NForce2 chipset. I have the Nvidia driver working on my home machine which is and Asus board with an NForce chipset running CentOS-3 and the Nvidia driver works fine. It has to be the NForce2 Chipset that is no good. I have tried updateing bios, Kernel and Xfree. There is just something with this

TDM400P Problems
Hi, I have just started to setup and configure my asterisk box and am having trouble with it. I have a dlink nic in the box as well as the digium card. When the nic is in there by itself it works, but when I put the tdm400p in, there seems to be some sort of conflict with the network card. The tdm appears as another type of network card, which I don't think it should, should it? It shows

Re: more about nVIDIA on Linux^h^h^h^h^h RedHat
Hey, I have two bits of info that suggest this is more of a RedHat problem than a Linux problem: 1) A high school friend had exactly this problem (screen when blank when booting up) on a computer running RedHat 9. (A different monitor had been used to install RedHat 9, and that monitor worked OK. Later, my high school friend got a different monitor, which went blank on boot up.) I solved the

Loosing keyboard
Hello. I am experiencing a problem with CentOS 3, it's that when I start Xwindow, my keyboard is lost and I can't do anything anymore. The Num Lock doesn't react nor the Caps lock. It's like if it would just be disabled. If I quit Xwindow, then my keyboard comes back again, working perfectly. Did anybody also have this problem ? I had a look elsewhere but didn't see anything

Screen resolution in StarCraft
I have installed StarCraft succesfully, but the screen resolution is only 600x480, how do I change it to 1024x768? I have tried to write: wine --desktop 1024x768 starcraft.exe but that makes the area available 1024x768 inside a 600x480 resolution! Sincerely Jesper

wanting to pkg_add KDE/Gnome post-install
After installing a text-based development environment via /stand/sysinstall (followed by CVSup, makeworld/kernel etc to 4-8-stable), I realize I want to install KDE, too. I initiated this with: pkg_add -r kdebase followed again by CVSup etc. Apparently that wasn't enough. Am getting message "XFree86 setup utility.. not installed" when trying to config xf86config (text-based) via

beware nvidia driver + make world
There was recently a change to /usr/src/sys/proc.h, and after a rebuild of the world and kernel and subsequent reboot my system crashed and took some files with it. This was because I hadn't rebuilt the nvidia driver so that it used this new proc.h file. If you are using the nvidia driver, and do a make world, you may want to remove and reinstall the nvidia driver port before the reboot so

Re: did I write that nVIDIA cards never work?
Denis, You wrote: > You may have problems on your side...but you can't generalise and say that it does not work. Maybe you have me confused with someone else. I did not write or imply that nVIDIA cards never work. Rather, I wrote that they may not work. By this, I meant that they do not work with some monitors. I checked what I wrote, and I believe the above paragraph is
