Re: more about messing around with iptables
Hey scty Library, > I am messing around with iptables, trying to learn how it works so that I can build my self a router/firewall and mabey a VPN. Oops! I forgot about that. The LinWiz iptables wizards cannot help you, a router/firewall/VPN application is too complicated for them. If you do not care about reinventing the wheel, then proceed with your learning experience. If you just

NFS and Linux Firewall Conflict
If I run showmount -e <my_server_ip> from the client, with the firewall set to on on the server, I get rpc mount export: RPC: Unable to receive; errno = No route to host If I turn it off, I can connect. So far, I have 111 and 2049 tcp and udp open and 4002 udp open. Anybody know what I'm missing? Best, John Hinton

htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?!
I''m getting the following error/warning at some point in my config script, and I''m not sure which class it is referring to. htb: class 10007 isn''t work conserving ?! I [think I] understand that htb is a non-work-conserving qdisc, and I [think I] have configured things so that every htb qdisc I instantiate limits the bandwidth, so I don''t understand why this

tutorial for Julian Anastasov''s patches
I''m sure that I had found (and printed out ...) a really good tutorial that explain how to use Julian Anastasov''s routing patch, but I can''t seem to find it now. RE: the "cisco vs. Linux" thread
FYI this topic has been covered on the Zebra and Quagga lists - hardware processors, memory, NICs, etc - software OS (Linux, *BSD), drivers, etc I''ve been running a couple of Linux routers for about 2 years now, I''m using them as core routers so I bought a couple of rackmount "server" boxes with redundant PSUs and h/w RAID (1) for hotswap disks. I''m using

In theory, you can run GlusterFS on a Synology box, as it is "just a Linux box". In practice, you might be the first person to ever try it. Suggestions on how to use stub_model with webrat?
Hi all, I am using story runner with webrat, but I am not sure how to incorporate stub_model into my tests. The webrat steps only care about the user interface and have nothing to say about interaction with the database. Following Ben Mabey, I have a line in my story like: "When clicks the Create button" And a step like: When "clicks the $button button" do |button|

Problems running features with Textmate Cucumber bundle
I finally plunked down for the beta RSpec bundle and I''m working through the initial example. Although I''m a fairly experienced RSpec user, I''m stlll learning new tricks. Anyway, I''m going though the mastermind example, and everything is going well, except that I decided to also try out the Textmate bundle for Cucumber. I decided to use Ben Mabey''s

RE: Shorewall Wiki
Good post Alex, I agree that all the talk of Wiki and FAQ''s are getting off topic from what the main problem is... Tom dealing with questions already answered in the faq. The documentation there is already very good. I also think that shorewall-newbies is probably not the best way to go. 'ERROR: parsing the volfile failed' on fresh install
glusterd.vol file is default installed with glusterfs package. So I'm not sure how did you end up into a state where this file was missing (as per my initial investigation looking at the logs). What you could do to check if this file is really missing or not by running "find / -iname glusterd.vol" and if it's indeed missing then copy it from one of the peer node and restart

kernel assertion error
I''m running 2.6.7 + (julian''s multi-path patch) + IMQ (imq2+beta6) and I got the following on my console while doing some stress testing: KERNEL: assertion (tp->retrans_out == 0) failed at net/ipv4/tcp_input.c (1827) I don''t know what I would do to try to reproduce this condition; it only appeared once. tcp_input.c sounds deep enough to scare me off from looking

Re: NVIDIA on Linux
Hello scty library, I had huge problems with NVIDIA cards on Linux. The screen would go blank as soon as X tried to load. I only tried using the driver that came with CentOS. After lots of parts swapping, I found that the monitor (obviously) and (even) the motherboard make a difference. > If so what did you do about it. Re: nVIDIA solution
Hey SCTV Library, Good work! (Is that your real name?) > The problem was the AGP driver, Not the Nvidia driver. I was wondering if you could help me write an informative FAQ for this. Here is what I have so far: The Nforce2 driver is part of the kernel-unsupported package (which must be installed separately). Set the Option "NvAGP" to "1". This tells the kernel to

gluster + synology
Hi, Does anyone have any experience of using Synology NAS servers as bricks in a gluster setup? The ops team at my work prefers Synology since that is what they are already using and some of the nice out-of-the-box admin features. From what I can tell Synology runs a custom linux flavor so it should be possible to compile gluster on it. Any first hand experience with it? Thanks, Ben

list archive anomaly
At the list archive page (http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/) there is an amazing message from the future: the year 2032 (q1).
