VoicePulse Connect 4 Channel Limit?
Does anyone know what happens if you try to have 5 concurrent outgoing channels with VoicePulse Connect? Does it give you an error message or a reorder or something? I'm worried about using them as my primary carrier if this is the case. I noticed that they supposedly only allow 4 channels for free and then you have to pay $20 a month extra per channel. I'm guessing this is for inbound

I am thinking of dumping broadvoice so I need some other VoIP providers that have a las vegas DID and a service better than broadvoice. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Asterisk & MyPhoneCompany.com (aka Talk(n))
They say on their website that they allow you to use your own device provided you give them the MAC address. Has anyone tried using * with it? Looks like they have quite a few rate centers and also phone support... Their website is horrible though... Just wondering, it'd be good to get user experiences from different providers other than IconnectHere and BroadVoice... -Chris

Opinions needed on call quality vs network latency
Hi, I am checking out the quality at a few vendors, and althought I know it doesn`t totally reflect call quality I am using ping as a cheap subsitute to having a real VoIP testing system The question I have is this one: given that one service gives me a 80ms ping (pretty consistantly) and another one gives me 30ms (again very consistently), is this 50ms difference enough to impact perceived call

Multiple outgoing calls through VOIP providers
Trying to get some straight info from the VOIP providers is difficult. Say there's a small Asterisk switch and it's registered with Broadvoice or LiveVOIP or someone. There are a couple of people using the switch, one is on an outgoing call with the VOIP provider. What happens when someone else initiates another outgoing call through that provider on the same SIP registry? Does * know

Best or any VoIP provider that works with *?
Suggestions on a VoIP provider that works with *? I know there is vonage.com but have read numerous bad things about their agreement and that you don't get a username and password from them rather a preconfigured Cisco ATA 186 that you are not allowed to get in to. Top most being you have to use a X100P with them to work with * which in my mind is just too many links in that chain. I have

Softphones and other VOIP PBX's
Background: I've been having some minor issues with our Sipura 841's. Mostly it just relates to them being cheap phones. One of the alternatives to buying new phones was using soft phones. I'm curious what other people are using that works well. I found NCH's SoftPhone Express Talk which is a nice implementation with some decent features. They apparently make a NT based PBX,

Major Digium Card Problems
Hi, I am having some major problems with 2 digium cards in two seperate servers they are both TDM400P cards one has 4 fxo ports and the other has 1 fxo port. First problem, the card with 4 FXO ports is fine until there is a storm in the area, then all 4 lines are massively static filled making phone calls barely understandable until the system is rebooted or the zaptel modules are unloaded and

VoIP Termination
Hi all. I'm looking to change from a standard telephone line to a VoIP phone line at home. I'm looking for recommendations for VoIP providers that I can use with Asterisk. One of the catches is that I often telecommute and sometimes I do some side business; these practices violate many provider's acceptable use policies. So, I need a provider who doesn't care how I use the

Autio cut off at beginning of call
I posted this question a while back, and I'm posting again in hopes that someone has some ideas. Sorry if you've already seen this. When dialing out using a SIP or IAX provider (Broadvoice, SimpleTelecom, VoicePulse Connect) I often find that after the call is answered the first few seconds of audio are cut off (i.e. I don't hear the called party). This usually results in the called

Insert 1+areacode for VOIP calls
Greetings, Currently my asterisk box is using Voicepulse. It works fine with the exception that people need to enter the 1+area code for local calls. I'd like to get around this if possible. The following is what I have in my extensions.conf.. exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Set(CALLERID(num)=6162997590) exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,n,Dial(IAX2/${VOICEPULSE_GATEWAY_OUT_A}/${EXTEN}) exten

Question on Aastra phones and Astrisk
Hi, Some odd behaviour here. A friend and I were talking tonight, and it seems we have both seen the same problem. We are both using aastra phones (I am using 9113is). We have a connection to and from providers via SIP and IAX. When I place a call on the local hold of the phone, and then pick them back up I can hear them, but they can not hear me. However, if I park the call,

Silly questions due to ingrained knowledge of analog phone use.
Greetings all! I've got some really silly questions. I'm a technical guy, and I understand how the astrisk server works and how VOIP works, etc... The problem I have is that at my small company we have a phone system with analog lines and everyone here is comfortable with the concept of using them. I've never seen IP phones in action so I don't know how they work from a users

Land line vs. VoIP provider.
Residential Long Distance. One of my biggest pushes towards a VoIP provider was cheap long distance. Now in the U.S. at least with SBC they now have a plan for Unlimited Long Distance. The price is 30.00 a month if you do not have a couple of required features on the line already like Caller ID and a feature like 3 Way or Call Waiting etc. in which case that lowers the price to 20.00 a month.

My Boss wants background music!!!!
Dear Members, I am searching for a new PBX for the company. My choice is Astrisk. My Boss wants background music via all the telephones. This is done in a conventional PBX that he wants, but I can use the Asterisk PBX if it can do this also. As I said he needs background music on every telephone this is not to be mistaken with music on hold. The bit stream is an MP3 file of 8 Kbs. At the server
