Netraverse Win4Lin in trouble or out of busienss?
Does anybody know what is happening with Netraverse the company who makes Win4Lin? They appear to have closed down, their offices are shut down and phones disconnected. Their internal user newsgroup is saying most of their developers have been fired. Their Web site (www.netraverse.com) looks like business for ususal. I wonder what happens if you try to buy anything from them - I'll let

NeTraverse going under
Is it true that NeTraverse just went under? Does anyone know any details? Do they have and plans to put Win4Lin into the public domain so that the Linux community can continue to support it?

Win4Lin, MYOB, Samba & Performance
I'm having performance problems that seem to involve SAMBA in the equation so I thought I'd ask if there was something obvious I'm stuffing up or a known anomoly. A mate of mine runs MYOB Premier (the brilliant (not!) multi-user accounting package which claims to not support SAMBA (or visa versa). I've had it running glitch free for two years on a Samba share off a linux box.

Quickbooks Pro 2000 on Win4Lin
Has anyone been able to make the Quickbooks Delivery Agent work under Win4Lin? I find that it slows the system down to a crawl and it never completes it's task. Removing the Delivery Agent is not a great solution because Quickbooks won't perform certain functions, like writing a paycheck, without it. Has anyone tried Quickbooks Pro 2001 under Win4Lin? does it work any better? Thanks,

madwifi on Centos 5.2, kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5
Hello, I just installed Centos 5.2 on my wife's IBM thinkpad T41 with Atheros wireless. It looks like I need to install madwifi to get the wireless to work. Our home wireless network uses WPA2 I found the EL5 rpms at atrpms, but there is no madwifi-kmdl rpms for kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5. So, to get the wireless working on my home network, what's the shortest path from here? Install

nm-applet, wirless, and CentOS 6
I have a strange problem and I know I am doing things way outside of the box. First of all I don't like Gnome or really any of the mess-windows flavored desktop systems and no, I don't like the MacOSX flavored desktop systems (like Ubuntu's Unity) either. The 'desktop' system (if you could have called it that) that I learned on was DEC's 'DecWindows' system on

Kernel Question
OK- A dumb question. Will a "generic"(kernel.org) kernel work with Centos 4? My reason for asking- I'm needing to upgrade from RH9, and would rather go ahead and go with 4 for the 2.6 kernel, but I need a patched kernel (Win4Lin), and I'm not sure they will offer a prepatched version (though they probably will for EL4). Thanks! -- Chris Bryant

Linux on a Thinkpad R40
I've just acquired a use IBM Thinkpad R40 model 2722-GDM. I'm contemplating what to run on it, and longer-term the likely candidates are: Centos 5 SLE{D,S} 10 OpenSUSE 10.2 Kubuntu - the latest. Kubuntu - Long Life (aka 6.04, Dapper, ...) I've booted Knoppix 4 in it and most seems well, including the Atheros Wireless card Windows can't find. The major flies in the

iwl4965 causes soft lockups
Hi all, Annoying issue.. my ThinkPad T61 has an iwl4965 wireless card. When I have the wireless switch on, I experience a lot of issues.. system keeps freezing..unfreezing..freezing..etc. Sometimes, a soft lockup is logged to /var/log/messages. psmouse.c also sometimes throws an error saying the mouse lost synchronization. Obviously, this is causing the system to freeze for a sec and

Centos 4 & Cisco 350 MiniPCI Wireless
I have an IBM Thinkpad with this beastie in it. The card was immediately recognized and uses the airo driver. No matter what I do, I can't get it to successfully connect to my WAP. Sometimes it sees the access point (as evidenced by an iwlist wifi0 scan seeing the network) and sometimes I can actually get it to connect ( as evidenced by the iwlist command showing the WAP ID).
