RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rolloutquestion
I don't think they are doing it with one Asterisk box. They did say "one rack of servers". Well, that might mean up to 50 computers if they are using blade servers. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of John Todd Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 10:21 PM To:

RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Isn't it ridiculous that Hammer charges an arm and a leg for any work they do. For systems as large as that one, we just setup a seperate one, connect them back to back and run automated script to burn it in. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of William Boehlke Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006

Re: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Why is using ulaw or alaw an unlikely scenario? I wouldn't use anything but ulaw\alaw. The Bells can compete on price and will if they have to. Where they CAN'T compete is quality. If there were something better than 711, I'd offer that. Well, there is 722, but not many things support it. ---- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com ----- Original

RE: Hardware dimensioning issues To: <juanmoyano@southecon.com.ar>
Juan, I am running a Calling Card application on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 with Asterisk 1.0.7. Recording conversations I have seen on my server causes the processors to burn more than necessary so I would recommend what William from Signate recommended: " Consider saving recorded calls in a database on a separate server. It will be simpler to build a retrieval interface that does not

Single or Dual Processor? High volume MeetM e
I'm trying to get a souped-up test machine(G5 Xserve) from Terrasoft to do some testing in a few weeks. If/when I actually get it I'll certainly post the results here. In theory the G5 should mop the floor with the Intel for high-volume Asterisk Zaptel usage, and I have heard from several Mac-heads that they have run three quad T1 digium cards on the Mac platform with no problems.

Dell PowerEdge SC420 for Office Implementati on???
Thanks! So aside from the lack of redundancy, will it perform well and scale to utilize a full T1's worth of calls through to the legacy PBX? We would probably build a backup server from old equipment and rsync the configuration files. Thanks again! > -----Original Message----- > From: William Boehlke [mailto:william.boehlke@signate.com] > Sent: Friday, May 20, 2005 3:33 PM >

Large directory performance
We have been struggling with our Lustre performance for some time now especially with large directories. I recently did some informal benchmarking (on a live system so I know results are not scientifically valid) and noticed a huge drop in performance of reads(stat operations) past 20k files in a single directory. I''m using bonnie++, disabling IO testing (-s 0) and just creating, reading,

5,000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Hi, we are currently considering different options for rolling out a large scale IP PBX to handle around 3,000 + concurrent calls. Can this be done with Asterisk? Has it been done before? I really would like an input on this. Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Seeking Volunteers for an Intro to Asterisk Course
Our company, Signate, is going to be offering a three day introductory Asterisk training course, the first of a series. The first class will be in San Francisco the week of June 28. It will be a beta test to get the kinks out and we will not charge for the class or the materials. Anyone who attends is responsible for their own travel and lodging, if necessary. I doubt anyone reading the lsit

combining bar and column graphs?
Hi, I'm hoping to find out whether R, or an R add-on, can generate a particular type of graph. And, more basically, whether such a type of graph even makes sense. I'm looking for something resembling both a column chart and a bar chart, where the basic visual "unit" is a solid rectangle of color that can be extended either horizontally, vertically, or both. The data that

Unable to use more than 1000 concurrent ntlm_auth processes
Hi List, I'm running a heavily loaded squid server that uses ntlm_auth to provide NTLM authentication. As load has increased over time, I've found the need to increase the number of ntlm_auth processes available to squid as well as the "winbind max clients" value in the smb.conf file. This has worked well up until now but seems I've hit some sort of limit. If I keep the

Scatterplot Showing All Points
Hello all, I'm trying to graph a scatterplot of a large (5,000 x,y coordinates) of data with the caveat that many of the data points overlap with each other (share the same x AND y coordinates). In using the usual "plot" command, > plot(education, xlab="etc", ylab="etc") it seems that the overlap of points is not shown in the graph. Namely, there are

icecast performance on many concurrent low-bitrate streams
Hi all, I'm running an Icecast-2.2 server with at peak times some 50 sources and 500 concurrent listeners all using low-bitrate 16kpbs streams. I'm experiencing some connection losses at these peak times ("Client connection died" message in error.log). The machine running Icecast has a 100Mbit connection to the internet. It is a Celeron 2.4Ghz machine with 1Gbyte of main

I?m in the process of setting up a Dovecot IMAP proxy to handle a number of IMAP server domains. At the current time, I have my users divided into 70 different groups of users (call them G1 to G70). I want each group to configure their email client to access their mailboxes at a domain name based on the group they belong to (e.g., g1.example.com <http://g1.example.com/>, g2.example.com

rollmean()
Hello, I am trying to calculate a 31 day running mean in some temperature data along ROWS. Rollmean() works great along columns, but how do I perform this same action on my rows? The data is a matrix of 365 columns (days of the year) by 5,000 rows (lat/long coordinates). I would like to perform a 31 day running mean along the 365 days. I am new to R so any help would be greatly appreciated!
