Continuing after a TIMEOUT(absolute)
Greetings,
I'm trying to continue to do some processing after a TIMEOUT
(absolute). In my dialplan below, when a call comes in to [default],
I call macro-phonenum and pass it a timeout of 20 seconds. macro-
phonenum sets TIMEOUT(absolute), then loops saying the phone number
that was called (in MACRO_EXTEN). When the timeout expires I want to
call my macro-hangup (so it can say

Unable to capture CallerID through Zap
Hi all,
I am using Digium PCI board to receive PSTN call through regular phone
line. It is no problem for me to receive calls, but I am not able to obtain
the Caller ID if the calls are from the phone line.

exten => s, n, Verbose(1|incoming number is ${CHANNEL} calling to ${EXTEN}
routing to ${phonenum} )
exten => s,n, Verbose(1|callid is ${CALLID(num)})

Passing DTMF
Hello:
I need to be able to reliably send out touchtone to any calling party who comes
into my pbx. The standard things to help with this have been done as far as I
know:
1. dtmfmode is rfc2833.
2. The phones themselves are set to rfc2833.
3. allow=ulaw
4. On internal calls between extensions, touchtone works fine.
Also, I have reviewed sip.conf with my carriers.
Now for the

In-band disconnect problem (legacy PBX) - as terisk doesn't hear t he touchtone?

Good question. If it is, Asterisk doesn't detect it -- the PBX doesn't
support Kewlstart-style disconnect notification.
The sequence I hear on the extension, when I plug in an analog phone, is the

In-band disconnect problem (legacy PBX) - asterisk doesn't hear t he touchtone?
The legacy PBX I'm working with does in-band disconnect notification -- it
sends a * touchtone when the line is hung up. I've been trying to get this
to work with Asterisk. I added a * extension to my menu context that plays
"Goodbye" and hangs up. This works fine if I manually press *, but it never
triggers when I hang up and the PBX sends it. I've plugged in an analog

Still looking for small fxo sip gateway
I've been looking around for a small external sip fxo gateway, sending
emails to possible vendors, etc, and can not seem to come up with anything
that fits. Suggestions anyone? (No channel bank & T1 card suggestions,
please. I've also just completed an eval of the Mediatrix 1204 which
does not support the requirements.)
The market between two fxo pstn lines (pair of x100p's) and

Weird audio problem with remote IVRs + DMTF
Hi,
Some users have been reporting a peculiar problem.
The are having an issue when they dial out to some multi-level IVRs
where you make 2 or 3 touchtone choices and then are connected to a
live operator.
When the live operator connects the operator cannot hear them or
sometimes it results in dead air.
With the one-way audio issue, is it possible that something has locked
the channel into some

Wait(n) -v- Background(silence/n) ?
Will Wait(n) still listen for DTMF input from the caller after there has
been a Background(some-message) prompt, or do I need to use
Background(silence/n) to still listen for DTMF?

Manager API - ExtensionState help please.
I'm not having any luck getting the ExtensionState action of the Manager
API to work.
The response is always success but the Status is always -1 which to me
means an error.
Here is a typical telnet session.

I have a odd question...
Hi all.
I am going to do a simple "voting application" for a radiostation.
The idea is to have listeners call in to vote on songs.
What I want to do is to take a phonenumer for each song and present the
result on a simple webpage.
Eg.
To vote on song number one, call 555-1111
To vote on song number two, call 555-2222 etc etc.
When the listener calls in, a playback tells him:

Russia Calls Skype/VoIP Security Threat
Anybody seen this article yet? Looks like Russian Telecom business have
decided that VoIP is going to put a dent in their profits so their
pitching it as a threat to Russia's national security and working to get
laws put into place to make sure the government controls VoIP providers
operating in or providing services to Russia.

No, because I wanted to match on "D", not "1".
Anyway, I figured it out. The extension was working, but Background()
ignores the tones A through D by default. I didn't
