cpanel on CentOS
Hello, Anyone running cpanel on CentOS3.4, could you please tell me what you see at the top right corner of your WHM, where the version numbers are listed? Do you have "RedHat Enterprise 3 i686" like on RHEL or is cpanel aware that it''s CentOS? Thanks, Francois

PostgeSQL 8.0.4 on CentOS4.2
In case anyone besides me is interested, installing these packages on CentOS4.2 seems to work. You can determine the correct mirror to use from: http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/binary/v8.0.4/linux/rpms/redhat/rhel- es-4/ The rpm command that I used was: rpm --upgrade --nodeps --hash -v <package url> Packages in order of installation:

OS: RHE 3, kernal 2.4.21-32.0.1EL Samba version: samba-3.0.20 Removed RHE version of samba and compiled/installed samba-3.0.20. Best RH/FC version for dvd rip?
Greetings: I'd like to bring up a CentOS-3.3 system to use for multi-media purposes. One of the packages I'm installing is dvdrip and all it's dependant packages (libdv, libdvdcss, libdvdread, avifile, & transcode). I'm hunting down the packages on freshrpms.net and I notice that there are packages available for FC1, FC2 & FC3. Question: Which FC version should I use

Logging into WIndows 2000 ADS from Linux Clients
Hi everyone, I want to convert some 50 new machines that an organization is getting into Fedora Linux workstations. This is the current setup: The organization currently has one Primary Windows 2000 ADS and 2 numbers of Windows 2000 servers acting as Backup domain servers. There are currently some 50 workstations already in the network and these are all Windows 2000 professional machines.

Strange Fedora Booting problem: can not mount "LABEL=*" partitions
Hi, Just got Fedora FC1 vanilla 2.4.25kernel+libata8patch booting problems, FC1 complains that it can not automatically find&found partitions specified with "LABEL=" in /etc/fstab, and then falls me into repair mode. In the repair mode I can mount it manually without any problems. More interesting are: 1) I have several partitions specified with "LABEL=*" in

Moved samba doesn't work
Moved samba (acting as a standalone system) from a RH9 system to a FC1 system. It wont authenticate the users. Here is more of the specifics: 1. Users log into a Samba PDC. 2. Login scripts setup their mappings 3. Some mappings are on the PDC (these still work) 4. Some mappings are on the standalone server. 5. The version of samba on RH9 is 2.2.7 6. The version of samba on FC1 is 3.0.4 I

mirror.caosity.org change...
sorry for the massive cross-post, but I wanted to make sure that I get everyone that needs to know this. Mirror.caosity.org is having problems keeping up with all of the mirrors. Rsync is a memory hog when dealing with large repositories, and mirror just can't handle it. I am migrating mirror.caosity.org to a new host which should be able to handle the load better. Also, I will be limiting

should cAos block access to mirror.caosity.org?
Hey, Greg suggested that I take a straw poll. Should cAos take steps to prevent getting stuck with a big ISP bill in the future? For example, should cAos: a) for new installs, have the yum.conf point to public mirrors, rather than to mirror.caosity.org? b) make sure that "yum update" does not substitute a new yum.conf file that points only to mirror.caosity.org? c) allow public

fdHess function
Your question is better addressed to the R-help@R-project.org mailing list, which I am copying on this reply. You are confusing a statistical concept, the Fisher Information matrix, with a numerical concept, the Hessian matrix of a scalar function of a vector argument. The Fisher information matrix is the Hessian matrix of a particular function at its optimum and I have forgotten whether that

Important Change to mirror.caosity.org, mirror.centos.org
mirror.caosity.org is going to become a cluster of 3 servers - using round-robin dns. all uploads need to be done in future to master.caosity.org which will be the new mirror master - the others will sync off of that one. Please make sure that all scripts etc that do uploading are changed to upload to master.caosity.org Once the rr dns records are in place you may find that you may not be

Samba woes with file xcopy from Win2K
I'm trying to do some quick backups from a Win2K laptop to a Fedora Core 1 desktop but it ain't working. The backups are just a bunch of xcopy's. Most of them run fine but two fail and I don't understand why. It appears that xcopy is attempting to create directories in both cases. When I run the backup targeting a Win98 desktop there is no problem. Here are two examples of
