Cisco 79xx XML Apps (was: Re: Cisco Directory Format)
Do you know where to find clear developers' guides (with some examples) for developing apps that run *on* Cisco 79xx phones (especially the 7970)? Examples that can run against Asterisk (not CallManager) with SIP firmware (not SCCP), and/or LDAP directories (or other open servers) would be best. Cisco 79xx XML carriage returns/line feeds
Hi All, I've been developing all sorts of applications for use on our 79xx handsets but am having great difficulty with formatting, I just can't seem to be able to produce a line feed between lines on the stuff actually displayed on the phone. Has anyone else has experience or success with this ? Cheers, Adam ********* DISCLAIMER ********* This message and any attachment are

Cisco 7970 - register with NAT phone
continuing discussions of 79xx issues. i've seen referenced and am experiencing difficulty getting a 7970 to work behind NAT to a public asterisk server. i am successful with 7960s. 1. SIP load is 70.8-3-3SR2S 2. config works fine if 7970 is connecting to an asterisk server a local LAN (same subnet) 3. when debugging it in a NAT'd environment I see the register and

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are so obscure. There seems to be a fair amount

Netgear FS116P and Cisco 79XX phones
I am hoping that someone has had better luck with this than I have. I would like to connect Cisco 7940s and 7960s to the Netgear FS116P, and take advantage of its POE. I know that the Cisco phones use Cisco's "pre-standard" POE implementation, but as I understand it the difference is really only two pins. I bought a bunch of PowerDsine inline power adapters which supposedly change

Cisco 79xx firmware
I have several Cisco 79xx phones (7905, 7920, 7940, 7960, 7970, ATA 186) and I need to buy firmware for them. I have contacted http://www.cdw.com and http://www.insight.com/ but they didn't respond. Can anybody tell me where can I buy SCCP and SIP firmware for my phones? BTW, I'm in Croatia (Hrvatska). I heard that location does matter. P.S. My local Cisco reseller wants to sell me

Asterisk 1.6.2.18, Cisco 79XX not registering
Hi all, I have a production server running with about 90 Cisco 79[46]1's and SIP release 8.5(2)SR1 from last year. I was running Asterisk 1.6.2.9 and upgraded last night after hours. (Seemed low risk to me!) Much to my surprise, not a single one of the Cisco 79XX phones would register. Since it's a production server, I rolled back to 1.6.2.9 and everything was fine. All my Linksys SPA

Cisco 79xx series IP phones
Shawn, That's a complete load of manure. I have an office full of 7960's, they work great with asterisk with the SIP images loaded. I'm about to pick up a lot of 7912's (simple one line phones, same as the 7905 but it has a built in switch). These phones have also been confirmed to work with Asterisk. I would recommend not going directly to cisco, and just find a reseller who

DHCP, the TFTP Server setting and the Cisco 79xx phones
The thing I dislike the most about the 79xx phones is that in DHCP mode, they expect the DHCP server to tell them their TFTP server address. They won't let you set it manually. So if I don't have DHCP server that gives TFTP server info, which is most of the DHCP servers at out there, then the phone won't be able to download any updates made to the SIP000*.cnf file. Using dhcpd on

Cisco 79XX Phones
Hello Everyone, I'm trying to add a Park Button to Cisco 7960G phones connected to an Asterisk box. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm concerned that our customer will not understand that they have to dial #700 to park a call. Are there programmable softkeys in the Cisco SIP software? Cisco 7940/7960 XML application hint
I don't know if this is already common knowledge, and it's not specificly for Asterisk, but if you are using Cisco phones and want to roll XML applications, make sure you have "Connection: close" in your HTTP header. Without it screen loads are very sluggish. In PHP, do: header("Connection: close"); I whipped up quick-and-dirty PHP/MySQL/Cisco XML directory and

Cisco 79xx + asterisk + some functions Q
Hi, I am new to Asterisk and have some general questions _before_ I start buying equipent to install and get everything up-and-running. (this means I have no running Asterisk (yet)). I have read already a lot of doc, but some things are not clear to me, since I'am inexperienced in Asterisk and PBX. The goal: Make PBX using Asterisk and Cisco 79xx equipment for 25 phones (1 x 7970, 4 x 7960,

configuring a Cisco 7961 so that different line appearances register to different SIP proxy addresses
Hi, I have been using Cisco 7960's with Asterisk for years. I am trying get a 7961 working and have a problem. In my configuration, not all of my line appearances register to the same Asterisk SIP server. I have an Asterisk server at home and another at work. MOH question w/Cisco 79xx phones
Hi Everyone.... Got a newbie type question regarding MOH & Cisco phones. I'm still new to Asterisk (very new in fact) & built up a AsteriskNOW box just to get something going. My simple test system has just 3 Cisco phones a 7905, 7940 & 7960. - Everything's running SIP. The 3 phones can call each other fine. - Can even leave (and retreive) voicemail messages. - No problems.

Cisco 79xx logon/logoff
Hi All, I'd like to know if anyone has figured out a way to be able to have users logon/logoff manually from Cisco 79xx phones (with SIP firmware loaded)? Scenario is, user walks into office, sits at a random desk, and logs onto the phone. The system would need to "log them off" of the last hardphone they were on, and then configure the new phone for their extension. We're

Cisco 79XX Ringers & chan_sccp
Hello: Does anyone know how to configure any of the Cisco 79XX phones to get custom ringers when using chan_sccp with Asterisk? I've currently got Asterisk's 05-24-04 CVS-HEAD and Zozo's 0.2 release of chan_sccp. I've tried using ringlist.dat, but that appears to only be for the SIP phones... Thanks for any input, Andrew

Distinctive ringing on Cisco 79xx
Greetings, I am trying to implement distinctive ringing on a Cisco 7960. I have tried setting alert_info to chirp1 or chirp2 before dialing the phone, but it has no affect. If you have successfully implemented distinctive ringing on a 7960, I would really appreciate seeing the snipit of code that works. Thanks in advance Bruce Komito High Sierra Networks, Inc. www.servers-r-us.com (775)
