MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each -normal ?
No, DON'T use mpg321, it will not work. Make sure you're using mpg123. See
the wiki.

MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each - normal ?
Hi,
I have P4 2.8 HT machine with Asterisk. I spot 3 processes of mpg321 taking
20% of CPU each even when no call is made to Asterisk or any other PBX
activity is on ?
Is this behaviour normal ?

Robert.

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it.
I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday.
Here is what I did to test it:
1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321.
2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the
the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module.
3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

slim server for moh
Hello,
I have installed SlimServer for Windows on my desktop and Asterisk on a Red Hat Linux machine.
I am able to play mp3's for music on hold when mp3s are on the Linux server, and to play streaming mp3's with Windows Media Player and Winamp on Windows using the slim server.
I also have mpg123 on my Linux, apparently installed correctly, since it works for local moh.
I put the

Weird experience with MOH
Hi
I thought I share this one, just in case this is an indication of some
bug ...
When I was trying to use music on hold at first, I didn't bother to copy
any music into /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 since there was a sample-
hold.mp3 in there which played just fine in a standalone MP3 player.
But after uncommenting one of the lines in musiconhold.conf and doing
reload on the console, there

still some moh troubles
Hi,
After following the suggestions on the mailing lists and the wiki I'm still
experiencing
choppy moh. The song plays but with frequent noise parts.
- I'm using asterisk 1.2.4 on our production server and 1.2.7 on the test
server.
- native moh with .gsm and .pcm formats (according to
http://astrecipes.net/?n=152)
- compiled ztdummy as a timing source
any pointers on how to dig deeper

mp3 playing distorted, or very slowed down... unintelligible.
I have the following in extensions.conf:
[global]
MP3ROOT=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3
[default]
exten => 1111,1,Answer ; Answer the line
exten => 1111,2,DigitTimeout,5 ; Set Digit Timeout to 5 seconds
exten => 1111,3,MP3Player(${MP3ROOT}/sample-hold.mp3)
The command that runs is:
14030 pts/0 S 0:00 /usr/bin/mpg123 -q -s -b 1024 --mono -r 8000

Re: Paging using multiple sound cards
Why *wouldn't* I bother? Using $5-$10 sound cards would be a much cheaper,
professional, and more permanent solution than having a couple hacked phones
laying near the PA system. Just trying to keep the setup clutter and problem
free,
as well as as cheap as possible.
I'm not a developer, but I don't think it'd be too much of a pain to program
the console channel driver to provide

Native MOH - Convert mp3 to ulaw
I'd like to use native moh instead of with mpg123... for some reason the processes never bloody die.
For native moh to not spawn an external player, I'd need to convert the default supplied moh sound files in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 to ulaw and g729 format. Anyone know of a free, easy way to convert them?
Thanks,
Doug.

Beginner couple of questions
Dear all,
I have some questions, I'm sure it's pretty stupid for most of you, but I need
you guys to help me. Here are my questions:
1. Music On Hold, it doesn't play any sound on the parked call or hold call.
But if I do ps-ax, it shows mpg123 .....( I forgot the exact line). I'm using
slackware 9.1
2. I have fxs 3 port, and in my zapata.conf I have included callpickup=1-4,

Redhat 9 Music on hold
I have read every thread, I have Redhat 9, Asterisk 1.0.6, 2 T1 lines
connected via TE405P. Everything works great, except MOH. I added an
exten with MusicOnHold(30), and it plays just fine. Conferences have
music when no one is in. I have SIP phones. When I place a call on hold,
the CLI give no indication the call is on hold. I have set
musiconhold(default) everywhere, removed it from everywhere,

MOH stop and resume when i hold
Hi list,
I have a strange comportment of the MOH system on my asterisk.
When i respond to a call and after fews second i set this call in hold
mode the correspondent listen the music fine.
When i re-take my correspondent at T0 instant the music is paused. And
when i re-hold him at T60 (60 second later) the sound is always at T0
when he was stopped at T0. So the music is stopped and don't

Limit MOH processes
You could try to use the native mp3 support for MOH if you really want
mp3 support. It is a lot better than using mpg123 IMHO. mpg123 kept
doing nasty things to my system :)
See
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20config%20musicon
hold.conf there is a section about the native support.

can't CLI> STOP NOW by zombie MOH
I am using CVS-v1-0-04/20/05-12:31:26. Windows Messenger5.1 works MOH
fine. After I stop MOH on Windows Messenger, if the hungup signal could
not send to *, the sip channel(e.g.,SIP/52001-08ca) for this MOH remains.
Then the user trys again MOH, a new sip channel starts. And again
the hugup signal can not send to *,.........
When I 'stop now' from CLI> , * cleanups the remaining sip

MOH native files
Where can I find alaw, ulaw, gsm, g729 formats for native music on hold?
I have some mp3 files and I have tried to transcode them to above, but it seams that SOX can't do that. Please, tell me where to download some MOH files (in above formats) or how to transcode mp3?
Thank you for your time!

Very odd musiconhold
I've followed the docs on how to configure musiconhold.
I then added an extension to test it like this:
exten => 6601,1,WaitMusicOnHold(30)
And when I dial that extension I do hear something for 30 seconds - but
it is not what I'd call music... it sounds more like the sound effects
from a scifi flick - now and then it sounds like jail cell doors closing
and echoing. Kinda cool but

MOH Between Asterisk Servers
Scenario:
A call is sent from one Asterisk system to another with IAX. The remote Asterisk system runs the Queue application, which then starts to play a different music on hold class then the standard 'default'. The console on this system displays:
-- Executing Queue("IAX2/xxx.yyy.142.203:4569-4", "demo_QMain|t|||60") in new stack
-- Started music on hold,
