Diff files to be made publicly available.
I plan to highlight the differences between RHEL and CentOS 3.1. Making this information clearly available without the need for duplicated effort across the world. This will help others take CentOS in different directions benefiting us all. It will help individuals create new projects more easily and efficiently. Are the diff files readily available, can I download them from anywhere? If the

Centos trademark issue
I found an old ROM BIOS chip in my drawer with label Centos(r) Copyright 1994 on it. Then I found http://www.centos.com.tw/ on the net. Has anyone checked if you can use the name centos without any fear of litigation? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... yum stalls <?>
I just installed a fresh 3.3 system (because those are the ISO's I had on hand). Upon running yum update, it starts to download headers and then stalls. I hit Ctl-C and it continues to download about 4-5 more headers and stalls. I hit Ctl-C again and it pulls a few more headers. Anyone seen this and/or know how to fix it? TIA Mike

Apache
Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running. So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed? --

A Problem : Can NOT install APT or Synaptic for v4.0
Hello, There was no problem installing "APT" package in CentOS 4.0 Beta, but so far I could not install APT or Synaptic by "# yum install apt" or by "# yum install synaptic" in a usual manner. Is there any solution for this? It seems to me, something is wrong only for these two packages. Regards.

mirror.caosity.org change...
sorry for the massive cross-post, but I wanted to make sure that I get everyone that needs to know this. Mirror.caosity.org is having problems keeping up with all of the mirrors. Rsync is a memory hog when dealing with large repositories, and mirror just can't handle it. I am migrating mirror.caosity.org to a new host which should be able to handle the load better. Also, I will be limiting

Access to Archives
I just joined the list and am trying to look at the archives. The page http://lists.caosity.org/mailman/listinfo/centos has a link to the archives that resolves to http://localhost.localdomain/pipermail/centos/ which of course produces an error "The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost.localdomain." What am I missing, and how can I review the archives to keep

Hello list, I wanted to download the CentOS 3.1 DVD image, but since I'm not too familiar with BitTorrent I asked my brother to do so. He tried and told me the tracker was down. I don't know exactly what that means, but he can't download it. Regards, Florian Neukamm

Red Hat Legal Targets www.centos.org website content
To squelch the questions (related to the changing content on www.centos.org), I decided this needs to be published. The CentOS Team has been contacted by representatives of Red Hat's hired legal team regarding the use of Red Hat Trademarks on www.centos.org. (Full Email follows.) While the CentOS team feels we are using Red Hat's marks in a fair and legal manner, we have no choice
