kernel update with yum - no grub entry
Hi people I am new to this list - actually I am one of (probably) a few who are jumping ship from WBEL. I feel like a bit of a scab jumping over at this time - but we all make mistakes eh? I have installed CentOS and ran 'yum update' and installed everything it prompted me for. After a reboot, I realised I had booted into the same original kernel-2.4.21-20.EL.c0smp and not the updated

CUPS/NFS
Is there anyway to remove CUPS and NFS on the system, I'd like to stop these services, close the ports, and uninstall the software as I don't use NFS for anything on my system, and for sure don't use printing on the server. How to get 3Ware 9500S controller card working in CentOS 3.1?
My goal is to be able to install to the drive array on the 3Ware controller card. 3Ware does provide a RH WS 3 driver that I've tried to use; however, the RH Enterprise 3 WS driver doesn't work since that kernel is older than the CentOS-3.1 install kernel. I'm trying to create a centOS-3.1 installation driver disk for the 3ware 9500S card; however, I'm not having much luck.

SAY_DTMF_INTERRUPT not working
Hi, I am trying to use SAY_DTMF_INTERRUPT with Asterisk 20.0.1. I see that I asked about it here https://www.spinics.net/lists/asterisk/msg174142.html and Sean was nice enough to create a patch. I am trying it on 20.0.1 by doing in the dial plan: CHANNEL(SAY_DTMF_INTERRUPT)=on and I get back: Unknown or unavailable item requested: 'SAY_DTMF_INTERRUPT' When I do: "core show function

Asterisk Monitor after Call Transfer failing to record the call
I have a problem with incoming calls being recorded after a supervised transfer. Call comes in, receptionist answers, caller put on hold, Asterisk Monitor is recording, caller is on Hold, Callee picks up the call, Asterisk Monitor Stops. All recorded calls are named CallerID to Exten. Receptionist sees the incoming PSTN callerID, yet when we get a transfer from the receptionist, we

How can I estimate parameters of probability distributions?
Hi list, I have a group of data. It looks like they follow a exponential distribution. In R, how can I esimate lamda, that is the rate in pexp, of the distribution and can I use Kolmogorov-Smirnov for hypothesis testing in such a situation? I have read the "8.2 Examing the distribution of a set of data" of "An Introduction to R" but I did not find any clues on this issue.

update killed my x
X server, that is (as opposed to my ex-spouse...) Anyway, I was loving life with my rebuilt 2.4.21-9.0.1.EL.c0custom041130a kernel, and then ran "yum update", which gave me a grub line for 2.4.21-20.0.1EL, but the 21-20 not only won't work with the old X settings, I can't get it to set up X at all. I tried running "yum update" from a console on this kernel, but yum

MeetMe Features
Hi all, I had a chance to use some call conferences that had some very neat functionalities: - When you call you are first asked for your name - When someone joins the conference a message "<name> is now joining the conference." is played. - When someone leaves the room a message "<name> has left to conference." is played. How can I set MeetMe/Asterisk to have

Exim4 authentication patch
Hello all, attached patch makes possible to use dovecot as an authentication backend for Exim 4. Reasons beyond this patch are simple: exim's authenticators require use of plaintext passwords and NTLM code in exim is quite outdated and hairy. Patch generated against Exim 4.43, but should apply to earlier versions too. Patch adds new 'dovecot' authenticator, which can be used as such:

cmdscale question
Hi. I know matrices that use distances between places works fine when using cmdscale. However, what about matricies such as: A B C D E A 0 1 23 12 9 B 1 0 10 12 3 C 23 10 0 23 4 D 12 12 23 0 21 E 9 3 4 21 0 i.e. matrices which do not represent physical distances between places (as they would not make sense for real distances such as the one above)

I'm trying to get perl CGI programs to work from the cgi-bin (actually a sub-directory cgi-bin/various) and have set appropriate permissions using chmod 755. I'm currently testing using the simplest cgi program, you know the one: #!/usr/bin/perl # howdy--the easiest of CGI programs use CGI; print <<END_of_Multiline_Text; Content-type: text/html <HTML> <HEAD>
