PXE boot Centos 4.0beta problems
Has anyone yet tried PXE booting the vmlinuz/initrd.img
set from Centos 4.0beta2?
I have a pxelinux setup that is booting 3.4 PXE images
fine, but the equivalent setup for 4.0beta loads the
kernel and then splashes the monitor full of multicolor
random characters. Not a good start to an install...
Anyone had luck? Any changes for PXE boots known for 4.0?
Thanks in advance.

php-snmp : spec, rpms, srpms.
Hello,
I just built a complete php suite including php-snmp
RPM. (php-snmp-4.3.2-19.ent.i386.rpm). I inspired myself from this
bugzilla page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=123149
can I upload binaries, sources and specfile somewhere to share it with
you ? I was thinking about "Extras" repository ? why not ?

[Centos 5] minimum RAM required to install : 1GB ?
Hi,
From the release notes i can read :
"Note that the minimum RAM required to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux
4.92 has been raised to 1GB; the recommended RAM is 2GB. If a machine
has less than 1GB RAM, the installation process may hang."
Is it a joke/mistake ? :-O
1GB !!!
I tested installation process with 256M / Celeron 600, seems to
work ...)

another yum question
Hello centos community,
I have a personal repository with self-made RPMs, and i need to include
this repository to yum.conf. But i've noticed that yum configuration is
overwritten when yum is updated. I can't update yum.conf manually on
my servers each time yum is updated ...
Is anyone have an idea ?
Thank you.

[centos 3.4] e1000 and installation problem
Hello,
I install Centos'es from PXE, with vmlinuz and initrd provided by
images/pxeboot from the first CD of centos 3.4.
The server is a PowerEdge 1850 with two integrated e1000 nic interfaces.
So kernel is booting, then it comes to the screen which ask for one nic
to do a dhcp query. I choose eth0, dhcp server reply well and then i get
an ip address, dns'es, etc. And nothing else

disabling console blanking ?
Hi!
Some of my centos's servers (poweredge 850/ centos 4.3) are crashing for
any reason, and so i wanna get screen (kernel) output afterward. Problem
is when the server is crashed and the screen blanked, a keypress
doesn't do anything at all.
Here it is what i've tried _from a ssh session_ :
- setterm -blank 0 and many combinations.
- "noacpi" boot option ...
Any ideas ?

centos 4.4: up2date rpm post scriptlet fail ?
Hi,
I got this in yum update process :
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.43939: line 12: restorecon: command not found
error: %post(up2date-4.4.69-25.centos4.5.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 127
"restorecon" is from package "policycoreutils", this last one has never
been installed on my system ...
Any ideas ?

Question about YUM
Pardon my ignorance, but if I update or install a package via rpm will YUM
pick that up in subsequent updates? Or should I be using YUM for installs if I
plan to use it for updates?

I'm gonna kill YUM (mailing list version ;-) )
Hi all.
Most of you already know about my problems (well, my computer's problems ;-)
), since we've been discussing on the forum. Hughesjr recommended me to post
here, so let's see, I have my faith on you.
I have a dedicated server with RH9 that I upgraded to CentOS 3.4 .
Everything ok, but after the first yum upgrade and reboot I get this when I
try to do a yum update:

Apache
Okay, I'm curious. I just installed CentOS 3.3 and did an update with YUM. I
want to run Apache so I first checked to see if it's installed with rpm -q
apache. Nada. Yet, in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d I see K15httpd. So I moved that to
S15httpd and started it up. It's up. Goto the default page and it's running.
So....if it's not showing up in rpm queries, how is/was it installed?

should cAos block access to mirror.caosity.org?
Hey,
Greg suggested that I take a straw poll.
Should cAos take steps to prevent getting stuck with a
big ISP bill in the future?
For example, should cAos:
a) for new installs, have the yum.conf point to public
mirrors, rather than to mirror.caosity.org?
b) make sure that "yum update" does not substitute a
new yum.conf file that points only to
mirror.caosity.org?
c) allow public
