How to minimally configure modules.conf loading?
I'm trying to somewhat reduce the security risk of Asterisk, by loading less modules. In my installation I use SIP and IAX2 for incoming calls, and that's it. No voicemail, no call parking, it just plays back voice clips. I can remove /etc/asterisk/modules.conf modules one by one: ------------------------------------ [modules] autoload=yes noload => pbx_gtkconsole.so noload =>

IAX1 vs IAX2 for IAXtel
G'day list, I am getting a lot[1] of traffic on my Internet link, ICMP messages from 69.73.19.178 telling me UDP port 5036 is unreachable (this IP address belongs to iaxtel.org). I see from the wiki that IAXtel supports only IAX2 from December 2003. Fine, however it looks like my * still wants to try and register using IAX1, and I can't find how to turn this off. This situation is

Problem with '#' key recognition
Hi, I seem to be unable to get Asterisk to recognise the '#' key being pressed to acknowledge an incoming call from a queue. No matter how many times I press the key to acknowledge, the Asterisk server acts as if I have not. I have installed the ztdummy module, and it seems that Asterisk is picking it up OK (mainly since it's not moaning about permissions for IAX timing any

X100P question
I have just started developing asterisk, and am trying to start simple. I have a X100P device and an S100U device. I am trying to use the examples provided, where I add a few lines to the /etc/zaptel.conf, /etc/asterisk/zapata.conf, and /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf so that I may connect an analog line to the X100P and an analog phone to the S100U. When I dial the analog line, it should ring

Trying to register with the * server as in version 1, I get the following in the * console: NOTICE[1150495040]: File chan_iax2.c, Line 2919 (register_verify): Inappropriate authentication received and in the client: Registration

Disable IAX1 Registrations
I was just noticing that my asterisk box is trying to register with my providers on both IAX1 and IAX2. They do register on IAX2, but it seems like it keeps trying to register with IAX1 also. Is there a way to disable this behavior, or am I just misunderstanding it. I just want to make sure I'm not wasting processor time and bandwidth trying to register IAX1 when it is already

rate-engine loading error
Hi all, I compiled rate-engine version rate-engine-0.5.2 with Asterisk CVS-HEAD-07/14/04-18:25:12 with some warnings. Cisco 7905 can't register
My Cisco 7905 can't register with Asterisk (1.0.7-BRIstuffed-0.2.0-RC7k on Debian stable). It could, however, register with another installation of Asterisk and the settings on the phone (apart from the SIP proxy address) haven't changed since then. On the new Asterisk box my sip.conf contains this: [jeremy] type=friend regexten=801 allow=g729 host=dynamic secret=PASSWORD nat=yes

Rate Engine Compile Error
I've tried to compile rate-engine 0.5.2 on Fedora Core 1, Redhat 9 and OpenNA Linux 1.0 and all give me an "Error 1" after typing "make" but with no real reason given. Just a few standard/non-critical warning messages, and then suddenly "Error 1" Anybody successfully compile Rate Engine? The least cost routing module for Asterisk? Thanks in advance.

Running applications when a queued call is answered
Hello, I'm experimenting with Asterisk for possible use in a call center. I'm trying to figure out how to run applications when an agent answers a call in the queue. I see that the queue itself supports a very limited range of applications; for example, I can give a URL to the Queue() application to SendURL(), or an announcement to read to the agent. I'd like to do some slightly

No sound when bridging two single FXO cards
Wow ! No reply... May be I must talk about X100P instead of X101P ? Is someone has yet encountered this kind of "no sound" problem when bridging two FXO lines like this (first as input, second as output) ? Any idea ? TIA.
