Attempting custom CentOS4 network install
Hi
I am installing CentOS4 over ether network using http and kickstart. I boot from
the first CentOS CD and at "boot:" prompt I input
"ks=http://localserver/install/custom.cfg". Except for minor glitches like
"Kernel-Development group not found" warning, the process is smooth and is
almost completely automated.
Now, I want to add additional RPMS to the CentOS/RPMS

postfix tightening
I am used to sendmail and am using Postfix now and am uncertain of some
features. I typically would comment out the line in sendmail.mc that
went something like 'accept unresolvable domains'
I tried using
smtpd_sender_restrictions =
reject_unverified_sender
reject_unverified_smtp
and this seems a bit too restrictive and got some bounces on legitimate
senders
so I'm

Can't install CentOS4
Hi everyone,
My email server is running CentOS 3 and I can't upgrade it to CentOS 4
using the CD's. At first I thought it was the old Megaraid card (that's
no longer supported), so I replaced that with a new card. I've tried
ISO's from CentOS 4, 4.1 and now 4.2 which I've tested and booted in
other machines. Just not this one.
I've never had a problem like this

Expression for pedices
I know that this maybe a trivial question. I am not able to plot pedices in graph axes.
Instead I am able to plot different math symbols :
XLABEL <- expression(paste(cmH,lim(f(x), x %->% 0),"O PEEP"))
works well
XLABEL <- expression(paste(cmH,[2],"O PEEP"))
is considered a wrong expression.
Thanks

cacti from Dag on CentOS4
Hello,
Anyone here running Cacti and rrdtool from Dag's RPMs on CentOS4.x?
Did the polling break when you yum upgraded in the last couple weeks?
Thx,

mailscanner on centos4
Anyone here running mailscanner on CentOS4?
I'm using the latest MS with sendmail on x86_64 dual-Xeon.
Messages seem to vanish after arriving, not even showing in mqueue.in .
Anyone else with a similar setup, working or not?
Thanks,
Francois Caen

mounting nfs partition at boot.
This seems like another basic question because I always assumed that if
I threw something in my /etc/fstab then it will be automatically mounted
at boot time (unless I put in the 'noauto' option).
But my NFS partition isn't getting mounted, here's the excerpt from my
/etc/fstab file, split on the whitespace so it's easier to read:
nfs_server:/exports/var/www
/var/www

sshd ipv6 logging in CentOS4
Hello folks,
Since I started using CentOS4, one thing has been bugging me: sshd's
ipv6 logging as seen here:
Failed password for root from ::ffff:83.220.130.10 port 43511 ssh2
Not a big deal, but I'd be really happy if I could get it to log in
ipv4 format like on CentOS3.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Francois

CentOS4 ok on Dell cerc sata raid ?
Hello,
There's been a lot of talk lately about raid controllers :-)
I'm thinking about buying a Dell Poweredge with the Dell CERC SATA
RAID Controller, 64MB Cache. It'll be either a P4 or a 64bit Xeon.
Does CentOS4 recognize these controllers fine? Any extra driver needs
to be installed?
Thanks,
Francois

[RFC][RISCV] Selection of complex codegen patterns into RISCV bit manipulation instructions
Hi Roman,

Oh yes. Thank you!
Unfortunately several of the instructions of the bit manipulation
extension don't seem to have an intrinsic already in LLVM.
That will require to add some passes to the middle end.

local port redirect not working on Centos4
Hello,
I want to redirect one local port to another. I am using the following:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 7003 -j REDIRECT --to-ports 80
and testing it by telneting to localhost on port 7003. It works on
Centos3, not on Centos4.
No luck with this either:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 7002 -j DNAT --to 127.0.0.1:80
Am I doing something wrong? Or did something

Three processes for each mongrel server?
Hi everyone. Zed, thanks for Mongrel. I''ve been running mongrel on my WiFi
cafe site (http://wifi.earthcode.com), and it''s been great. It handled a
front-page digg a few weeks ago without blinking.
However, I''m setting up a staging environment right now, and I''m getting
what looks like three mongrel processes *all listening on the same port* for
each mongrel

Idea to possibly improve flac?
I'd like to express a few things whilst I have the ear atleast a few folks.
There once was a program called oddcast, and then edcast that you
could use on linux to broadcast an OggFLAC encoded audio stream from
jack. Sounds like something many folks would be interested in doing,
but I haven't heard to much of a peep about it. At any rate, it had a
a few issues legally and technical

Looks like 3.8 is not ready to download
This is just a heads up that 3.8 does not look ready to download.
There are 3.8 files at the CentOS mirrors, but the files (including the
iso images) are constantly changing or disappearing. It looks like
the hard-working diligent CentOS workers are making some last minute
changes before getting CentOS 3.8 out the door. I presume that
there will be a posting made to this list when 3.8 is

NFS v4
Hello all,
Do you guys use NFS v4 in production? Is the Linux implementation ready enough?
The feeling I'm getting by looking at RH doc and other web sites is
that v4 was added in a hurry and is not mainstream yet. I don't want
to use something too cutting edge that will break down the road. Is
that the case?
In my case, it would be a CentOS5 server with CentOS4 client.
Thanks,

Using userdb/passdb data in director_username_hash
TL;DR:
Can director_username_hash use %{userdb:...} or %{passdb:...} ?
====================================
This is on Ubuntu Precise, running dovecot 2.2.36. It's a fully production,
director-ized env, so assume everything is working correctly. Happy to post
doveconf if it's relevant but wanted to ask a general question first.
I was curious if there's a way to get userdb/passdb
