documentation?
Been learning * now for a couple of weeks and have all basic features
running including VM, MoH, FX lines, iaxtel, and FWD. However, I seem to be
lacking documentation on a lot of technical things and am wondering if I
overlooked something that is obvious to others. (I do have the Handbook,
have been doing a fair amount of google searches, and read the README.*
files.)
Examples,

What changed in Directed PickUp between 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 ?
Hi,
I'm banging my head over this.
Usually, I'm using a SIP hardphone feature called "Call Pickup Starcode" to
enhance BLF with Directed Call Pickup :
basically, SIP hardphone (here a Thomson ST2030S) is configured to send an
INVITE message whenever a BLF is pressed while blinking.
The INVITE is build with the extension number (attached to the BLF that was
blinking and pressed)

[Fwd: Re: call pickup fails.]
More than one hundred messages related to *8 or call pickup problem in
last 6 months!!
Please someone in the development team could clarify this and make
himself responsible for the response.
By now It seems a bad joke.
We have spent thousand dollars with hardware, sip phones, working men
hours, and with digium stuff (E1, fxo, fxs cards etc)
and we have had the *8 problem (sip callee ringing

Directed Call Pickup
In the list I found some messages that *8 doesn't work so well. Is there
any possibility to create a extention that you can call, and if you are
fast enough, pick up a number? (Also if you are outside your callgroup)
like
pseudo code:
exten => 888, 1, EnterPhoneNumber()
exten => 888, 2, EnterPass()
exten => 888, 3, TransferCallToThisPhone()
exten => 888, 103, Invalid()

Repost: Aastra BLF directed pickup: anyone have this pickup-mgernoth file?
Hello all
Sorry for the repost, but I believe this is essential for Aastra phones
to use directed pickup with BLF in 1.2 (and it's still experimental in
1.4 I think).
pickup-mgernoth-2006-07-28.patch.txt
If anyone knows otherwise than that this is still required in latest 1.2
or 1.4 please reply with success/failure stories. Any info would be
appreciated.

Polycom Blf / Directed Pickup
Would anyone happen to have some examples of polycom configs,
specifically the 650 with sidecar for blf.
I have the asterisk side all configured since I've set up blf with other
types of phones, but I'm missing the polycom side.
I've put together a <mac>-directory.xml, and the sidecar now lists
numbers as speed dials but does not subscribe to blf.

Directed pickup troubles
I've tried the directed pickup like explained in
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-PBX+Call+Pickup
but I've got no way doing it work. When I call the ringing phone it use
the second line of that phone
Group call pickup works perfectly.
Is there some special configuration to do to make it works?
Best regards,

directed call pickup with PICKUPMARK
Hi!
i have a problem with the PICKUPMARK of the Pickup() application.
E.g. A calls B. B is ringing. C wants to pickup B.
To make this work with PICKUPMARK I have to add the variable PICKUPMARK
to B. But how can I do this? B is just created inside the Dial()
application.
thanks
klaus
PS: If you wonder why I use the PICKUPMARK - Pickup(exten) does not work

Pickup with *8 is not working...
Hey there list !
I'm receiving negative feedback when people try to pickup another
ringing phone by pressing *8 on there own Grandstream device.
These are my setting that should make pickup possible :
all my sip-clients (Grandstream) have this in their config (sip.conf) :
callgroup=1
pickupgroup=1
canreinvite=no
qualify=yes
So they are all in the same pickupgroup...

Why use 'Answer'?
Why is it that newcomers always feel like inserting 'Answer' is a
necessary step in their extension.conf entries?

>exten => _8.,1,Answer
>exten => _8.,3,SetCIDNum(55555555)

Can't get Pickup app working
I'm trying to set the Pickup feature. I'm setting my extensions.conf as:
exten => _*.,1,Pickup(SIP/${EXTEN:1})
but if, for example, extension 03 is ringing by a call made from
extension 01, and I try to pick it up from extension 02 (by dialing *03
from extension 02), I can see in the Asterisk console (Verbosity set to 10):

Pickup() ringing extension and call waiting
Hi All,
I'm using Asterisk 1.2.14 under openSuSE 10.2 with kernel 2.6.18. I have
Wildcard TDM400P card and D-Link DPH-120S and DPH-140S SIP phones. I would
like to be able to pickup ringing extention from any SIP phone using Pickup()
application.
from my dial plan:

exten => s,1,Dial(SIP/somebody1|60|tTrR)

BLF, Directed pickup and Polycom 601 with SIP 3.1.6
Hi,
Latest SIP firmware for Polycom 601 is 3.1.6.
With this, is Directed Pickup supported ?
At the moment, when an extension is ringing, I can see BLF turning to solid
Red but I can't see it turning to Blinking Red.

Pickup re-invite
Hello Folks.
I'm wondering if anyone has any helpful hints.
I recently upgraded to 1.4.11, and I'm having problems with pickup, both
directed, and the pickup feature.
My server is on the public internet, and all phones are behind a NAT router,
somewhere else on the public internet.
When a ringing phone is picked up by another phone, you have audio for a few
seconds, then the call is

Mediatrix 1204 sip experience?
Anyone had any good/bad/otherwise experience with the Mediatrix 1204 Sip FXO
4-port gateway?
The archives tend to suggest the box is not very straight forward, and possibly
lacks some basic pstn interaction features.
Thinking about trying one in place of a pair of x100p's (functioning fine now).
CallerId, etc, supported on this gateway?

call pickup and ring groups
I'm having trouble with call pickups.
Suppose ring group is 100 and has extensions 101 and 102.
Someone calls 100, 101 rings and 102 wants to pick the call up. If 102 dials **100, call pickup works. If 102 dials **101, call pickup fails.
In my dialplan I have:
exten => **101,1,NoOp(pickup extension)
exten => **101,n,Pickup(101)
exten => **101,n,NoOp(pickup group)

Festival on RH9?
I'm about to download Festival source, apply the astrisk diff's, and
initiate basic testing. Thoughts are to download v1.4.3 (latest per
the fesitval website.
If anyone has an existing how-to, install notes, tips, or any suggestions
I'd greatly appreciate it. Direct email is fine if you'd rather not post
them.
Thanks,

Pickup cmd
Hi all,
I have a GXP2000 with BLF configured. I follow the configuration
guide to enable the pickup cmd as follow and include it under
corresponding content.
[BLF_group_pickup]
exten => _**1XX,1,Pickup(${EXTEN:2})
exten => _**1XX,n,Hangup
The I press the single key to pickup the call to extension 100 when
there is a call to it. From CLI, I can see it issue **100 to asterisk
but failed
