Icecast 2.1RC1
Hi:
Just observing that there's been no trumpet blowing about Icecast 2.1RC1
being released, with no link on the website or nothing. For thems that
want it, go to http://svn.xiph.org/releases/icecast
Also, I presume that this release has the fallbackoverride functionality in
it. Probably good to have this in the conf file.
This release comes just at the right time for me - I will be

Linux-HA Heartbeat2 and Asterisk
The new version of heartbeat (http://linux-ha.org/GettingStartedV2)
supports up to 16nodes. I was wondering if anyone has tried it with
Asterisk.
The biggest hurdle would be to configure multiple instances of
Asterisk on the same box. Anyone configure more than one copy of
asterisk on the same machine? Each instance would need their own set
of configuration files. This would be a VOIP only

AsteriskNow console access
I just downloaded and installed the AsteriskNow appliance
(http://www.asterisknow.org) . This looks like it has lots of
promise.
Anyone know what the secret is to being able to actually login to the
root console?
thanks,

icecast1 documentation
Hi Geoff,
I'm a bit confused...
After reading the docs, I was under the impression that icecast2 does
not do on demand relaying?
I did a google search, found this (well, it's a year ago)
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/icecast/2004-February/006555.html
Also, in the relaying section of the icecast documentation:

There was no

I think he wants something which will fire on every metadata change.
Looking at the stats page could mean missed metadata and wouldn't reflect

[Icecast-dev] metadata fallback mounts

hmmm, good point, but it obviously breaks fallback-override (as far as it's
useful), and also could cause your outgoing bandwidth to be swamped.
Suggestion: How about allowing the admin to configure a bitrate for the
fallback file. This would make it

Questions
Hi:
I've read that there is experimental speex and theora support in a
development branch of icecast somewhere. Speex would be ideal for this
kind of thing.

This system is running Debian unstable and has the following auto*
versions:

autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.57
Unstable has automake 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7

ices2 - Unreasonable error?
Hi:
I hit a problem where a script that should return one of a list of files to
be played is returning the same one each time. This is obviously not an
ices problem, it's what ices did with it that bugs me. Here's the error:
[2003-08-12 12:17:26] DBUG playlist-script/playlist_script_get_filename
Program/script ("/usr/bin/egosched") returned filename

This presumes one is using a master/slave setup, does it not? I got the
impression this was just a specific relay of one stream. I would hope that
it would just reconnnect.

Howto stream using icecast/ices bit rate peeled ogg files
Hi:
Actually, if the stream were to peal to the best quality dependent on a
listener's bandwidth, the capability would have to be in icecast, surely.

Mulitple VLANs containing the same ip subnet NATed on same box
I know this is not a normal request, but I would like to connect two
vlans into the same box that have the same subnet on them, and then
NAT them out to the Internet.
We don''t need to make any connections inbound to them, but only
provide outbound access.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
If I can''t do it with routing then I could use something like
user-mode Linux, or other

Streaming MP3's from Asterisk with Ices
I am trying to stream an mp3 file from an Asterisk meetme conference.
Ices and Icecast are streaming mp3 files on their own.
I have looked at the info on the wiki and the various readme files.
It appears you need to use Ices2 to work with the confirguration file
that Asterisk gives you, but it calls Ices. Ices2 appears to only
stream ogg files and i would like to stream an mp3 file.

Are there many cards in this category? I'dve thought that all cards would
support 44100, it being the standard that it is. Your comments however
suggest experience of this problem.

[Icecast-dev] metadata fallback mounts

Just tested it all so here's what is happening.
Stream is up and all is well. Then I take the stream down and after about 14
seconds the fallback starts, that's great and exactly what I want.
However, I start the stream again and have to wait about 5 minutes for the
fallback to
