/dev/zap* is not showing up (gentoo, portage, asterisk 1.0.8)
hi there I'm trying to get asterisk going on gentoo 2005.1 I'm just getting my feet wet so I thought I would just stick with the stable portage packages. Right now that's asterisk 1.0.8 I emerge asterisk with the following make.conf file: CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686" CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" USE="-gtk -gnome -qt -kde -dvd alsa

Noob question regarding PCI 2.x & TDM400P Card
I have some old PC's I want to build as a test box - It's up and running OK now. Now I installed a TDM400P and there is nothing I can do to get the card to come up. My guess is the box is not PCI 2.2 compliant or does it need to be to see the card? Thanks, Bart Here's what I know: Processors 1 Model Pentium III (Katmai) CPU Speed 551.37 MHz Cache Size 512 KB System Bogomips

Problem with smbfs on 2.4.18 kernel
Hi all.. I have found some problems on smbfs module in 2.4.18 kernel. I compiled it by myself (not the very first kernel compilation in my life ;-)) and then I have got it. Looks like it touch smbfs module as when I recompile 2.4.18 modules with smbfs sources changed to sources of smbfs from 2.4.17 problem disappears!! My mainboard is Abit BE6 with Pentium III 450 MHz. I am using SuSE 7.3 with

System freezes with i8042_panic_blink on suspend
Hello, I am using CentOS 4.6 (2.6.9-67.plus.c4) on a toshiba tecra 8000 notebook. If closing the panel, "Panel Power On/Off" is enabled in bios, the notebook does suspend. But after opening the panel, the notebook completely freezes. If the suspend only takes a few minutes, then everything is working fine. But if the suspend takes a time more than five or ten minutes, the system

isolinux 2.01 bug with Compaq and Promise BIOS
I have a Compaq something with a PII-400 and an Intel 440BX/ZX/DX chipset. I put in a Maxtor Ultra133 PCI controller (which is a Promise PDC20269, same as their TX2) and connected the hard drive thereto. Before we go on, I should say that I **hate** both Promise and Compaq. I wouldn't actually BUY this junk. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say. :) (An old idiom I grew up

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across this page: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line, and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this

Dovecot for Gentoo portage
Hi all - I've added an ebuild for 0.99.9.1 to bugzilla: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22080 It includes the CR+LF patch. Should be trivial to update for .10 when it makes an appearance :-). Feel free to fix/improve this ebuild - I'm fairly new at them. Zach. -- Services & Support Bulletin Wireless | www.bulletinwireless.com This email is digitally signed | Key ID

SCSI backup error
Hi, Can someone please help me with this? I have just upgraded from 4.7 to 4.8-STABLE and this is what I am getting when I try a tape backup. Please CC as I am not in the list. It was working well before the upgrade (dump -0ua -f - / | gzip -c -9 | dd of=/dev/nsa0). Thank you, Lefteris Tsintjelis Jul 3 22:55:18 ene /kernel:

Why new "SCSI" devices in 4.5 kernel?
I've been running CentOS 4.4 on my Thinkpad 600E machine. Now the new 2.6.9-55 kernel wants to support the SCSI devices I don't have. After the 4.4 --> 4.5 update, on the reboot kudzu informed me that it had detected my PIIX4 controller. Well, OK. That same chipset has been in this machine for 10 years, but if the OS wants to re-detected it that's fine with me. FWIW,

Polycom IP 500 - problem dialing extra numbers
hi there I'm setting up asterisk@home and I'm using Polycom IP 500 phones. When I call a number that has a digital receptionist (i.e. "dial 1 or such and such, dial 2 for this and that...") the Polycom doesn't seem to send the extra digits. When I try it with X-Lite things appear to work fine, so I think the problem is with the Polycom configuration. Here's some

SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout on FreeBSD 6.0 RELEASE
Hi I have a newly installed FreeBSD 6.0 release machine on which I am getting the following error on the console: "ad4: req=0xc23bc258 SETFEATURES SET TRANSFER MODE semaphore timeout !! DANGER Will Robinson !!" This is generally associated with heightened disk activity, but it happens inevitably after a while (minutes or hours) if the machine is running. The atacontrol list shows:

em0: watchdog timeout -- resetting
I am getting these messages every 30 seconds or so. I searched around and found a few other post about this problem with other devices, but no answers to the problem. I didn't notice any of these message until I upgrade to 4.8-RELEASE the other day. This is a dual processor machine. It happens on all my machines that have em devices, which all happen to be dual processor machines. I

Partial deadlock in 4.9p1
I've just had a 4.9p1 system partially deadlock for about 30 minutes and then spontaneously(?) recover. The "ps" results point at vinum. I've never seen this before and don't recall anything like this being mentioned here before. At the time, I had two find's running in a large NFS mounted filesystem and was doing a "cvs -d /usr/ncvs -R checkout -P ports" from

Unable to emerge Wine 1.1.5 on Gentoo AMD64
Hello, I am currently trying to emerge wine on my Gentoo AMD64 system, and it is currently failing on the last package. I haven't been able to make much sense out of the error message. If anyone knows what is going on or can otherwise point me to where I should look or anything to try, it would be greatly appreciated. Here is the error I am getting: make: *** [programs] Error 2 * *

[LLVMdev] Gentoo ebuild of LLVM
Hi guys, there are few issues concerning LLVM and Gento Linux below. 1. Gentoo encourages to think of smarter packaging. Oversimplified, but... there are at least three audiences using LLVM: - application users - developers *using* LLVM in their projects - developers *changing* LLVM sources. Application users are not interested in LLVM, they are rather interested to have their favorite

(long) high traffic syslog server.
I have some questions about what needs tuned on a high traffic syslog box. I seem to be dropping quite a few syslog packets. This is a syslog server for a high usage Firewall btw.
