T.38 Peer Negotiation Fails

I'm having some trouble getting a T.38 fax call established with
Broadvox. During negotiation, Asterisk sends a SIP re-invite (T38

SIP <--> PSTN gateways
So what are people using these days for SIP or IAX to PSTN gateways.
1. Do any of the standard companies (Packet8, Broadvox, Vonage, etc.) allow
you to use your own SIP device (phone or something like *) instead of the
interface hardware they usually provide?
2. What about latency and reliability?
3. Finally, do any of the providers deliver more than one call via SIP? In
otherwords, if

SIP codec negotiation / manipulation
We're having an odd issue with codec negotiation from one of our SIP providers. Here's the basic situation.
We receive an invite from them advertising support for G711, G729, and G723. In our response, we send back that we support G711 and G729. In about half the cases, this results in no problems, with audio being encoded with G711. The other half of the time, they send us a second

$0-per-month (pay as you go) provider with T.38?
So, I've been able to receive faxes quite reliably through teliax with
g711 so far; I think I can live with it.
For outbound faxing, I'd really like to get a service that lets me
send faxes, but doesn't charge me a monthly fee (I don't send enough
faxes to justify it). T.38 is a requirement; I need to know that a
fax has gone through at the time I send it (store-and-forward,

IAX provider using Broadvox's network?
Hi.
I'd really like to start using Broadvox or one of the many companies
that resell connectivity to their network, since they are the only
VoIP provider out there that solidly advertises full support for T.38
(I'd be using the openh323 stuff for faxing, since Asterisk doesn't do
T.38).
However, I really like using IAX for my voice calls. Is there any way
to have both? Ultimately

request for clarification on Asterisk T.38 bounty
The bounty stands at $5,500. I'm seriously considering taking a shot
at it if I can find a decent T.38 provider to test with (I'm still
hoping for reliable PAYG T.38).
It looks like a lot of very smart people have done a lot of very hard
work (t38modem, spandsp) that would go towards getting this working.
At this point it appears to be mostly a matter of integration

BroadVOX
Guys,
For what it's worth, after months of trying to troubleshoot issues with
them, and after paying them around $2500 for setup and a down payment
(it's unclear what of that will be refunded, if any) BroadVox --
http://www.broadvox.net/ -- decided to terminate our contract without any
valid reason, and the only explanation they could cite was "it's because

Anyone heard of BroadVox direct?
Just received:
Cognigen is very proud to announce the official launch
of Broadvox Direct, a new VOIP service.
Broadvox Direct offers unlimited calling plans to
anywhere in the US and Canada for a low monthly payment starting at
$29.95 and basic accounts as low as $12.95.

Anyone know who's behind that? It's not BroadVoice, is it?

Digium FFA + Gafachi T38 outgoing issues
Hi, folks.
I'm having a heck of a time trying to get outgoing T38 faxing (I don't
need inbound right now) working with FFA and Gafachi. G711 faxing works
(as well as can be expected over the internet), but I want the higher
reliability of T38.
I'm running Asterisk 10-beta1.
When I drop my callfile in to make the call, I get this:

Anyone use SunRocket with Asterisk?
Has anyone tried SunRocket with Asterisk?
http://www.sunrocket.com/
The $199/yr. plan seems like an excellent value,
and most reviews have been favorable.
However, I don't know if it is possible to obtain the SIP
credentials, so one can bypass their "gizmo".
Thanks,
Stewart

Asterisk with Dialplan or TrixBox for this case?
Hi all -
Been using Asterisk installed on Debian and love it. But it's time to
rearrange some lines and looking for a few features I didn't enable or
have in the dial plan the first time around and wondering if you would
recommend doing it through configs again or if one of the prepackaged
solutions would more easily support these needs. One that caught my
eye was TrixBox but I'd be

New backport of T.38 fax passthrough functionality to asterisk-1.2.7.1
(This is a shameless copy-paste from the note I posted on
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=5090)
I have again backported the whole T.38 shebang to the stable branch. The port was
based on two versions of the t38passthrough branch: r19125, the latest
unconflicted automerge, and r13623, the latest version without the new chan_sip
flag structure. Basically, the port contains everything that

T38 REINVITe issue
Hi
My call flow is
T38 static IP gateway --> Asterisk --> Sip Provider--> PSTN
Call is placed in reverse direction - from PSTN to T38 Gateway.
T38 GW reinvites with T38, and asterisk passes it along to the SIP provider. The SIP provider challenges it and asterisk reponds to the Challenge with INVITE with Auth credentials...however, the Asterisk changes the SDP and replaces the T38

Packet8 hacked
Looks like www.packet8.com <http://www.packet8.com/> has been hacked
:-(
The phone service is offline as well.
Interesting to note that the whois is showing an update today but
doesn't look like details have changed.

outgoing calls with packet8 and dta310 problems
I'm trying to get asterisk working w/ packet8 (incoming and outgoing)
and a dta310 so I can have more control over voicemail. I've looked
at the data stream coming from the dta310 and from packet8, but I
haven't managed to get the phone to actually place invites through
asterisk. On the asterisk end with chan_oss.so, I can make it dial
and I hear ringing and the first second of

Packet8 integration into Asterisk?
Hi John,
I've been using Packet8 via a physical ATA and XP100 card for some time.
As far as I know it is not possible to connect to the Packet8 service
without the ATA.
If this is not the case I would be very interested to hear this.
In addition since moving to the USA I now only have a single packet8
line into my asterisk box (I used to have this and a 2nd regular pstn
line)
I used to be

Packet8 New Area Codes and Rate Centers
I received a message from Packet8 last night telling me they added some
new area codes. I took a look at their new area code/rate center finder
page and it looks like the added a LOT of new area codes. They now have
phone numbers available in almost every state.
The URL for finding out which area codes and rate centers are available
with Packet8 is at http://www.packet8.net/about/areacodes.asp

T-38 re-invite issue

A 'git grep t38timeout' on the src leads one to res/res_fax.c, where one
case see that it is the number of miliseconds to permit for t38 negotiation
to complete once it starts.
Ie after both sides select t38, until they
