[off topic] [research] Interviews for contributors over 50 for Oregon State University research
Hello,
Researchers at Oregon State University are striving to conduct
research to learn more about the free/open source software community
landscape as it relates to older adults. We have identified you as a
leader for a free/open source software community. If you?re
interested, we will either do an in-person interview (if you are local
to the Corvallis or Portland area), or an interview over the

FOSS-Fork Research
Hi,
We are students of Lund University doing our Bachelor thesis for the Systems
Design-programme.
Some of you may already have seen this message. It's not easy to get in
touch with you guys. [image: Wink]
This was also posted on the compiz forums. It's a bit difficult navigating
between all the forums.
We are conducting research on why and how FOSS projects fork. The aim of the

SIP 486 "Busy Here"
Kinda confused by this... I have a Cisco 7960 configured with a
couple SIP extensions configured on the phone. Just trying to dial
one extension from the other on the same phone, but when I do, I get:
-- Remote UNIX connection
-- Executing Dial("SIP/2001-ffd4", "SIP/2002") in new stack
-- Called 2002
-- Got SIP response 486 "Busy here" back

Upgrading Drive, Best Practice?
Hi,
This might sound like a n00b question, but I've honestly never done this
with a Linux machine... (it is running Centos3)
We have a 1U mail server with two 36GB SCSI drives in a hardware mirror
config. There's no more room for any other drives in the case. It's
filling up, so we now have two 74GB drives ready to take their place.
Possible solutions that I've come up

max. no. of conferences supported
Hi,
What are the limits with asterisk server running on one decent (4GB, 4 CPU etc.) machine.
How many MeetMe conferences it can support? What is the limit of number of participants per conference?
Is it possible to support 1000 users in Asterisk? What is the kind of hardware needed for this?
Thanks,
Madhuri

How to find the root causes of compiler bugs in practice?
In general, finding the root cause in LLVM is not really a big difference than debugging a normal software: Depending on the scenario, if it’s a crash then putting it on a gdb is probably the first step you wanna do. And this usually can tell you the answer pretty fast.
More tricky scenarios usually involving developers to leverage various of LLVM-specific diagnosing features, the

Intermittent volume deterioration in conferences
I wonder if anyone can suggest ways to diagnose an infuriating problem
being experienced by customers of a company I did a large Asterisk
project for.
First some background:
The system is a conferencing system using a modified MeetMe. There are
seven Asterisk boxes (we call them bridges) each with four T1 PRIs into a
TE405P. No VoIP is involved. A conference is always local to a single
bridge.

Fake Conferences CSCI and WORLDCOMP of Hamid Arabnia
Fake Conferences CSCI and WORLDCOMP of Hamid Arabnia
Hamid Arabnia from University of Georgia is well known
for his fake WORLDCOMP conferences
https://sites.google.com/site/dumpconf This website
has an open challenge posted sometime in 2012 and it
also has comments from several well-known researchers
on WORLDCOMP. Hamd Arabnia never responded to these
because his conferences are bogus.

RFC: Second draft of an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
Greetings all,
First off, thanks to everyone who contributed to the initial discussion
thread. Judging by the responses from that thread, there seems to pretty
broad interest in pursuing this. There also seem to be a few concerns. =]
I'm including an updated draft based on the feedback, and I'll also try to
break down the major points I've seen of discussion. Sorry for the long
email,

yum update best practices
Hello, we run approximately 400 Centos servers at our company. We use
cfengine for configuration management.
I am looking for some documentation to do patching including kernel
patches. I was thinking of just having each host run yum update via
cfengine but not sure if there are any gotchas there? Should I just do
yum update? or should i exclude the kernel and be more careful with
those? how

Dialout Conferences?
How do I set up an existing call to dial out to a new terminal which is
included in a conference with the two existing legs of the call? When
the dialplan executes the Dial(<terminal>) command, control does not
return to the dialplan until the terminal disconnects, after which it's
obviously too late to conference it.
Is there a conference command or option that lets the dialplan dial

Personal Meetme conferences; is there a better way to do this?
I want to have a "personal meetme conference", so when
on a call I can transfer the other party to my personal conference with "#7".
(I can then make other calls, and dump them into the conference
using "#7" as well, then join myself by dialing "7").
Using:
exten => 7,1,MeetMe(${CALLERIDNUM}|Mpd)
this works as long as I originate the call. However,

RFC: Introducing an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
Greetings everyone,
On behalf of the board of the LLVM Foundation, I’d like to start the
process of introducing a formal code of conduct for the community.
For a long time, various members of the community have been enforcing basic
reasonable and respectful behavior, but to an outsider this may not be
obvious. A public code of conduct advertises the behavior we expect of
community members and

Timeout for conferences
Hi,
The dialin conference via asterisk is over, one person is still in the
conference room and accidentally does not hang up properly. Her meter at
the phone company keeps running...
I'd like to implement something to the effect of checking whether there
is only one participant in the conference, and when this is the case, to
cancel the call after a predefined time (perhaps 5 or 10 mins.

Forthcoming R Conferences
Dear useRs and developeRs,
I hope all attending useR! in Dortmund last week had as much a good
time as I had and a safe trip home. This email is to announce our
plans for forthcoming conferences. In 2009 there will be a useR! in
Rennes, France (July 8-10), directly followed by a DSC in Copenhagen,
Denmark (July 13-14).
We would like to have a useR! 2010 in North America, and 2011 in
Europe.
