Announcement: YAACID (Caller ID for Asterisk)
Hi everyone,
i'm announcing YAACID: Yet Another Asterisk Caller ID V0.9
it's the first public release. we've been using it in our office for a
couple of months now.
YAACID is a native Windows (.NET) program that sits in the
notification area and logs into the manager interface. it waits for a
call to come in on a monitored channel and then pops up the callerid
info in a very

YAACID and manager.conf security
Hi -
I am going to open port 5038 on my firewall so that I can use YAACID
to spawn browser popups on an incoming call. My question is, under
manager.conf, what are the suggested settings so that I can get the
browser popups only? I'll be at different IPs so I can't lock it
down that way.. I guess I don't need any write access?

HEADS-UP: BIND denial-of-service vulnerability
Hello Everyone,
ISC has released new versions of BIND 8 which address a remotely
exploitable denial-of-service vulnerability that may allow an attacker
to perform `negative cache poisoning'--- convincing a name server that
certain RRs do not exist (even though they may). I do not know of any
workaround at this time.
I have committed fixes to the RELENG_5_1 and RELENG_4_9 security
branches.

Hey Bax,
Thank you for the help.

Headsets
Hey Everyone,
We are in the process of reviewing headsets for use with our GXP-2000s.
I'm looking for some feedback as to which headsets people are using, the
pros and cons of those headsets, and if they would recommend them to
someone else.
Any help would be appreciated...
- Jason

Release Note Translation
Hey,
if you haven't started already, now would be a good time to begin
translating the release notes which are already on the wiki. We're going
to begin QA tomorrow and will finish the release notes from our findings
in QA. So if you now begin and watch the release notes page, you'll just
have to put the changes into the already translated stuff.
Thanks in advance (and for the work

LLVM Status Update
Hey everyone,
It's been way too long since the last status update. Since that last
edition, we've gone through the 1.0 release, fixed a ton of bugs, and
implemented some neat new things. Since many people are using the 1.0
release, I'll break the changes into "before 1.0" and "after 1.0"
sections:
Before 1.0:

[simon@FreeBSD.org: cvs commit: src/crypto/openssl/ssl d1_both.c dtls1.h ssl.h ssl_err.c]
Hey,
RELENG_7 isn't -STABLE yet, so the issue mention in the commit mail
beolow will not get a Security Advisory. This only affects
applications using DTLS, and I doubt there are many of those, but
users should still upgrade to get this fix, just in case.
See the OpenSSL advisory for some more details:

Ready to do 0.3.7 release.
Hey Folks,
I''ve got all the goods ready to go, but this time before I release I''d like
people who are tracking svn to check out and try their apps. I''m
specifically looking for:
1) Make sure the commands all work for you.
2) Tell me if your apps still are served correctly.
3) If you see a big performance drop. I''m finding that the BSD based OS

TE406P seg fault on Stable
I received a TE406P card from Digium yesterday and have done several tests
on it and cannot get it working reliably with any Stable release or even CVS
v1.0.
What are other people that are using the TE406P card using for an Asterisk
version?
I tried 1.2.0 beta1 and it seemed to function well except for an unrelated
issue with the beta release where the manager interface chokes under

Next release
Hey,
I was gonna do a 0.5.5 release tomorrow to catch the Gnome 2.21 train.
Anyone knows about any crashers or other things that we should fix
before that? Otherwise I can try to figure out the weird redraw issues
with Youtube embedded. :)
Cheers,

Altivec-enabled libvorbis...
Hey guys,
I just released my new MacOSX-based OpenAL implementation...part of it
is a Ogg Vorbis decoder based on the 1.0 reference libraries. I spent
some time optimizing them and found that many of the hotspots in
libvorbis are perfect candidates for vectorization, so I wrote Altivec
versions of them.
The end result? Decoding of a .ogg file is between 30 and 50% faster on
a Mac with an
