Friday the 13th Muhahaha Allison Smith and more on the Polycom Applications
Hi,
Allison Smith continues to contribute to the open source asterisk
resources and she is launching a new site that will make it even
easier to grab sound files. Allison joins us to talk about that and
whatever else comes up. She says:
"I have been the Voice of Asterisk -- the world's fastest-growing
telephony platform -- since its inception (which for me, was marked by

Allison Smith Hilarity
Greetings and salutations Asterisk community,
I've been contacted by a man who has generously posted some prompts he
commissioned from Allison Smith. If you haven't heard Allison in humor
mode, you owe it to yourself to hear this. Joey Lindstrom has decided
to place these in the public domain and he's asking Digium to include
them in the Asterisk prompts collection. Because he's

Allison Smith, Music-on-Hold Parody--outstanding.
Allison Smith just created a hysterical parody music on hold Parody. Whatever you were doing, stop, and dial this number to listen to it: 360-519-5689. 2 minutes.
I just gave her a few ideas, but she took it and ran with it--she chose the audio and did the mix-down and everything. Really funny!!

Is Allison going to be banned from foreign travel over polar bears?
I read this story and thought of Allison's prompt to "try not to think about blue eyed polar bears".
Will she be banned from foreign travel now?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Polar bears, sea ice and global warming are taboo subjects, at least in
public, for some U.S. scientists attending meetings abroad, environmental groups and a top federal

Spanish, Portuguese, other recordings for Allison
Hello -
I am going to have Allison record some "intro"
messages in my next round of text to her. I'd
like to have a consistent voice during the first
messages at a company, even if the user presses
buttons that take them to a different voice for
the alternate language.
In other words, I'd like to have Allison say:
Thank you for calling Foo, Incorporated. Para

Replacement for Allison
Hi,
Does anyone know what I need to do to get these:
http://www.enicomms.com/cutglassivr/
Sounds files to work? I've tried loading them, but they are completely
silent (format mis-match maybe?). Specifically, when I try to enter
voicemail, nothing plays... though it clearly tries.
I'm looking for replacement sound files for the default Allison, as I feel
she is kind of breathy. I have

Grandstream GXP2000 resetting all the time
All,
I have AAH 1.0 installed using Digium TDM04B and Grandstream GXP2000 phones.
All seems well other than the phones have to be reset up to 5 times per day.
It is like they lose thier ip connection or maybe thier SIP connection. Has
anyone else experienced this issue? I have the phones set for static IP
addresses and that doesnt seem to help either. Any help would be greatly

Status of latest round of Allison recordings
Just wanted to catch everybody up. So many people contributed to the
work list that I'd probably miss several if I tried to notify just
them. Many people contributed funds, too, which I greatly appreciate.
We were able to get the entire list done, which added up to two full
hours of work on Allison's part. And that's just the recordings --
I'm doing the editing myself.

Fwd: [whatwg] Cue points in media elements
Hi,
this is an email from the HTML5 standardisation group, which I thought
would be very interesting to Annodex and Xiph people.
I do not know enough about the cue points that he is talking about to
know how much should be done in html/javascript and how much directly
in the media.
But I found the need for cue points interesting. Maybe someone here
has an answer to Brian on how it could work or

Re: songs on website
Hi Christian,
Aaron Wolfe has already sent me a script he used for his online radio. I only need to customize it -- and maybe create a Debian package from it. It knows much more than I need (requests, cancels, more stations, etc.), I'll have to cut out some parts.
To answer your questions I use Debian Linux, I'll use ices2 as source, not a media player.
Thanks,
Jacint

Music on Hold Quality
Does anyone know how to maximize music on hold quality on calls inbound
from PSTN? I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding
music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized? I
assume that the bitrates, type of music, etc can minimize the effects.
Does anyone have any experience in this area? Do you know where I
should look for more information?
