Astersik CVS HEAD + T1 e&m wink + IAX client doesnt detect call answered on Zap channel
Hello,
I've got very annoying behaviour from our asterisk PBX.
We have 12 channels T1 e&m wink start for TDM and using iax softphones
internally (iaxcomm, but tried firefly-thirdparty and discarded for
bad sound quality).
Slackware 9.1 w/ kernel 2.4.26+ digium TE110P card.
In some cases when call is placed from softphone to TDM, system does
not detect call answered on Zap channel and

Asterisk and IAX softphone (firefly) problem/question
Quick question from a newbie,
I have asterisk configured to dial IAX extensions (which works). When
dialing from one IAX extension (using Firefly) to another IAX extension
(also using Firefly), the Firefly client rings on the receiving end and
gives the option of accepting or denying the call. However, when I dial in
to Asterix using a VoicePulse number and dial the same extension Firefly

FireFly client and echo problems with IAX
Hello,
I am having horrible echo problems when using the FireFly client on both the
caller and callee sides of the call. When I use another IAX soft client
like IAXcomm or IAXPhone I do not have the same echo problems. Has anyone
else experienced this and do you know what might be the problem?
Thanks,
dj

Looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone
Hello All,
I have been looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone for
Windows but the ones I have came across (i.e. Iaxcomm, Iaxphone, Diax) do
not seem to have an updated version since April 2004 in some cases.
We looked at Firefly but we sent emails to Virbiage/Freshtel with questions
and could never get a response from them.
Has anyone got any recommendations for commercial

Softphone Audio problem
As a test, I was trying to use Iaxcomm and Iaxphone to connect to
Asterisk and dial out to my other line. Using either of these soft
phones, I can connect to Asterisk and listed to audio just fine. I can
even connect across the net to another asterisk server and hear audio
just fine, however, when I dial out to my second land line the audio
that is transmitted is horribly broken up. It is as if

Cubix Softphone + Asterisk 1.2.6
I've tried Idefisk and Cubix Softphones, and they both work fine, except
for two issues:
1. Idefisk seems to have a longer delay between the time I can hit
tones, and
2. Cubix, while can send DTMF faster, never actually connects to an
Asterisk-dialed call -- I can't hear the party who answers.
#2 has been asked but unanswered here:

Ticket: 12775 Multiple IAX client behind a NAT
Hello!
I have a number of IAX clients behind a NAT (on the same LAN) and
asterisk server on the Internet. And that clients doesn't speak directly
to each other, traffic goes through the asterisk server.
What should I configure to make IAX clients on the same LAN to speak
directly, please?
notraster=no is set in iax.conf
The asterisk server is on real IP behind a NAT (at DMZ with full 1-to-1

Cubix / Firefly softphone and Asterisk
Hi All
Has anyone used Cubix / Firefly successfully with Asterisk? When
someone calls a Cubix softphone, Cubix never seems to answer the call
correctly. The other person just hears ringing even though it has been
answered. I am using IAX as the SIP support doesn't seem to 100%
either. Idefisk works 100% on the same setup.
Kind Regards

Disconnection From IAXTel
I am using IAX soft clients (firefly, IAXComm, IAXPhone) from a Win2K
machine on a NATed private LAN to connect to my IAXTel account. All of my
calls to outside numbers(1-800, 1-877, etc) seem to be disconnected after 9
seconds. Has this limit been placed on IAXTel? My call to the echo test
number at 1-700-999-9613 seemed to run for as long as I wanted.

Softphone lag
Hi,
IF i use a sip softphone or a iax softphone with asterisk, i get a lag of about 1 second.
The two phones were on 2 different pc's near me. When I speak on one, i hear it on the other after about 1 second.
I tried using iaxComm, Xten Xlite, etc. Same.
FYI: The codec used was GSM.
Using the fxo and fxs interfaces on the digium cards with POTS have no such issues.
Any clue where the

Crash: Call from IAX-client to a distribution where the IAX-Client is in
Hmm. By the way, please don't post bugs to asterisk-dev as I've been
told :>
That list if for on-going development.
That sounds like a bug I encountered in 1.0.5. There is a division by
zero bug in chan_iax2.c introduced somewhere after 1.0.4 I believe and
currently fixed in HEAD. (They've given me enough shit for posting the
bug while it was fixed in HEAD already. No need to

Firefly & iaxLite dont stop ringing when answering incoming call
Hi Everyone,
I've got a weird problem with both Firefly & iaxLite (both IAX
softphones). They don't seem to stop ringing when an incoming call is
make to them. If the call is answered the conversation starts both ways
but the ringing sound still keeps going and the softphones keep
displaying that a call is coming in (but they do not display that the
call is answered).

Recommended IAX softphone.
After having been toying around with asterisk and various VoIP stuff
for a couple of weeks now, I want to recommend a preferred protocol
and softphone to friends and family for calling me up.
As SIP and H323 are such a mess to set up in NATed environments, the
only reasonable protocol option right now seems to be IAX.
After looking at http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+IAX+clients

On Topic: Cheapest Asterisk USB Key? (was: Re: Off Topic: Open Source USB Softphone)
Here's a flipside of this subject: what is the absolute cheapest Linux
device that can be connected to a PC's USB port? That has just enough
power for a minimal Asterisk server running on it. The Asterisk just
maintains a CDR database on its Flash memory, which it periodically
submits over the PC's network connection with an HTTP hit on a remote
full-service Asterisk server? No call
