E1 -> T1 native bridging for fax, will it work?
Hi list!
The stability of * with fax (or the lack of it) is causing me headaches.
To solve it, I was thinking to put a TE205P card in the * box, connect the
E1 pri on one port and a channelbank (I was thinking of the Rhino) on the
other port in T1 mode. (Has anyone tried this??)
The TE205P supports channel bridging which sounded like the ideal
(but not cheap) solution when combined with a

Digium TE205P and channelbank
Trying to find my feet here. If I wanted to connect Asterisk to a PRI and
throw in a T1 Adtran channel bank into the mix for fax machines would the
following work?
Connect PRI line from telco to Port 1 on the Digium Wildcard TE205P.
Connect Adtran TA-624-T1 to Post 2 on the Digium Wildcard TE205P
also, would I need a crossover to the channelbank or is it a patch lead
like the connection to the

TDM2400P FXS Only vs. T1/E1 to FXS Channel Banks
Hello All,
I'm looking to get some feedback on which solution of providing FXS is
going to have the best results with faxing. I'm only looking to see what
method is going to provide the best digitization into Asterisk, not for
transmission from Asterisk to else where. Any recommendations of
specific channel banks are welcome. I will need to provide approximatly

Channelbank Recomendation and GS102 question
Hi All.
I'm working on an * configuration. We require 8 inbound POTS lines, and
CT1 or PRI seems like it will be
quite expensive at that level. I've read that a T1 Channelbank plus
the T100P would be a (the?) way to go
for this situation. What is the recommended channelbank for use in this
scenario? From searching the archives
I see a lot of suggestions to get "a

experience with analog channel banks in E1 land
hi,
we are currently planning are large site which will migrate from an old
siemens hicom pbx to asterisk.
it will be a slow migration, the asterisk server will be inserted
between the telco E1 and the hicom. new phones will be sip ones.
the customer has several fax machines and analog phones (some of them
have to be explosion-proof). around 50 analog ports in total are needed.

Rhino T1 and 4-port FXO cards
Just saw these new Asterisk compatible cards at Rhino's homepage. Anyone
has experience with these babes?

The 4-port FXO looks interesting. Looks like a very clean design.

Channel Bank Echo
We are a voip terminating company, we're using Channelbank with FXS
modules, Rhino, CAC, etc.. What we're wondering is, is how to would you
echo cancel a channelbank. Of course we're realizing that cancel'ing on
the T1 (on Ast) does no good (we think?) because the analog conversion
is at the channelbank. Suggestions? Lowering the gain helps but we're
looking for a real solution

Channelbanks
Ok, the Zhone sucks and the Adtran 750/850 seems to be a little too
expensive.
Can anyone recommend a decent channelbank that won't break the bank?
TIA,

Channelbanks for use in europe (Sweden)
Hi!
Is there anyone that are using a E1-channelbank and have any tips about some
type? Im looking at the TE410P and use one port for a PRI (Euro-ISDN, I
think we're using some slightly modified version here in Sweden, but I'll
check that tomorrow) and connect one port to a channelbank for 30 analogue
telephones.
It would also be great to get callerid on the analogue phones, so it would

Sangoma or digium ?
Hi all,
We need to get better echo cancellation on an Asterisk gateway.
Currently it has two TE410P (1st gen) cards. So would it be possible to
just buy two VPM450M cards ? Or do we need to buy two new TE412P cards ?
In that case a Sangoma A108d card would be nice as well ?
What configuration gives the best audio quality ?
Thanks,

160 analogue phones..
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to connect 160 analogue
phones to an asterisk PBX?
Background information:
A client wishes to replace their current PBX with a new VoIP system.
Currently they have 2 PRIs.
I intent to set up 2 asterisk PBXs with Debian GNU/Linux on raided
drives. These drives will be mounted only read-only to recover
gracefully from power-cycles. I am considering 2

Possible to send Calling Number as TON: international ?
Hi all,
I have Asterisk working great for a while now, and until now, only
needed to forward calls which originate from one country (Holland, +31).
We have a Wildcard TE410P card and configured it in zapata.conf as:
switchtype: euroisdn
pridialplan: unknown
...etc
This was all fine, but now we want to also forward calls to the
voice-switch with a calling-number with a different country code.

User in two queues receive two calls at once
Hi all,
I have several queues defined in Asterisk, but when I put a user in two
queues, the user (can) get two calls at once. (One from each queue).
Right now, I configured some phones to only accept one call at once, but
that has the side-effect, that also direct calls won't come through.
Is there some configuration option to make sure that if a user has an
open call from a queue, that

Placing Asterisk between existing PBX and PSTN
Hi,
I've read through the Asterisk handbook and I'd just like clarification
from someone that's implemented the above before. Lets imagine I want to
use the CallingCard application and don't want to tell a client to buy a
channelbank (the analog extensions are too many to connect to FXS cards),
I figure I could set them up as below:

T1, Rhino, & Nortel
Hi all,
I'm trying to insert a Rhino Ceros box equipped with a Rhino R2T1
dual-T1 card and running the latest version of Trixbox (2.4.2) between
the central office and a Nortel Option 11. The switch at the CO is a
DMS100. Basically, I'm taking the T1, connecting it to port 0 on the
R2T1 card, and then connecting port 1 to the Nortel. (Actually a CSU and
then the Nortel) We're running

SPA400 vs Rhino/Digium card
Hi!
I'm a new member in VoIP world. I want to implement a VoIP PBX using
asterisk/tribox in the office but I have one doubt. Which is the best way to
use actual PSTN lines in the VoIP PBX? Using a box as Linksys SPA400 or
installing a PCI card (Rhino/Digium...) into the server? Which
benefits/problems will I have with each option?

T1 cable for Digium T1/E1 Cards
Is there any technical difference between a T1 cable and a cat5e patch
cable as far as using them with Digium T1/E1 cards? Can PRI circuits
terminating at a smart jack connect successfully to Digium cards using
straight through CAT5e cables? If so, are they using all of the pins in
the cable?
Thanks in advance

Recommend Fax Hardware for T1 PRI
I have posted this to the Asterisk Forums, but
got no response yet. Sorry if you are reading
this for the second time.
What fax hardware do I need for a T1? Ideally, I
will switch my T1 to a digital PRI (not CAS I'm
told, which is not as good) coming into the
building. My CLEC said I can do this switch no
problem. I have an analog T1 coming in now.

Extensions for in-bound faxes w/o properly-provisioned T1.
Hey, all. I've got a non-PRI T1 that doesn't do DID "correctly:" I can't
get the DID from the proper variables, and, instead, I direct it based on
the four "least valuable" DTMF digits dialed by the T1 for in-bound calls.
Which really works pretty well; Asterisk plugs them quite nicely into
${EXTEN}. Unless, that is, ${EXTEN} gets over-ridden when it's
