No Sound at all
Hello anyone who can help
I have two Asterisk boxes with identical hardware (Dev & Production). I
recently rebuilt the DEV box using Fedora Core 3 and the latest CVS Head.
The hardware is an Intel CA810e, onboard everything with a PIII processor.
The config is pure VOIP using IAX2 & ilBC with Virbiage Firefly soft
clients. I also use Ztdummy which seems to be working ok - no error

Firefly / LibIAX2
Hi
Does anybody know how to build the LibIAX2 from Virbiage? It has some nice features when
using Firefly (Messaging, Status Indication).
The source can be downloaded here: http://www.virbiage.com/3rdparty/. It does not contain
any directions how to compile.
Any hints?
Thanks!

Hunt group with Accept/Reject Option
Hi,
Could someone please give me some advice on how to get * to perform the
following :-
Answer incoming call (from IAX Trunk)
Play a prompt to the caller like "Thanks for calling please hold while you
call is transferred to first available operator"
The caller hears MusicOnHold
Asterisk begins 'hunting' for someone to take the call by dialing through a

New Firefly version
As Promised, I've released a new version of Firefly (ver 1.8) with IAX &
SIP support back in.
Get it from Virbiage site or here's the direct link
http://www.virbiage.com/firefly/download/firefly-thirdparty.exe
If it crashes on startup, export your Firefly tree from the registry
(current user -> software -> firefly), then delete tree from your
registry. If that fixes it, send

Looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone
Hello All,
I have been looking for a commercial version of an IAX2 Softphone for
Windows but the ones I have came across (i.e. Iaxcomm, Iaxphone, Diax) do
not seem to have an updated version since April 2004 in some cases.
We looked at Firefly but we sent emails to Virbiage/Freshtel with questions
and could never get a response from them.
Has anyone got any recommendations for commercial

No sound
Hello,
I have just set up an asterisk box (Debian unstable) and I would like
to test it with a H.323 application (gnomemeeting). When I call the
demo voice menu, I can't hear any sound. asterisk says that the
soundfile is played:
-- Executing BackGround("H323/ip$212.9.189.172:30005/29597", "demo-congrats") in new stack
-- Playing 'demo-congrats' (language

Virbiage Phones - Vapourware??
Has anyone heard any more info about the Virbiage FT201 VoIP phones?
About 3 months ago I was told they were 6 weeks away, about 3 weeks ago I was told they were 2 weeks away, and now I am told they are 2 months away again! Are they EVER going to arrive? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Virbiage FT201 IAX Hard Phone
Does anyone have any recent news on the Virbiage FT201 IAX Hardphone?
I'd *really really* like to deploy these phones instead of SIP
hardphones, and I can't help but wonder if I'm going to shoot myself in
the foot (or another sensitive area) by deploying a ton of SIP phones
just to find the IAX Hardphones were released a week later...
Thanks,

Configuring Firefly Network in *
I did get it to work, and can place and receive calls through the Firefly
network via *.
Compared to iaxtel or FWD, there is a significantly higher amount of
latency, but it is workable.
For some reason, this needed to be the last entry in my iax.conf or it
would try to authenticate with a different user ID when receiving calls
(and obviously would fail.
Relevant section from my iax.conf:

IAX voicemail notification
Hey list (again - annoying bastard I am)
I've played with Firefly/* for a while and I have yet to find a way to
have * send voicemail notification to Firefly. It appears possible using
SIP (no clue whether Firefly supports it) in the sip.conf file, but
there's no mention of anything voicemail-related in the IAX.conf file.
I'm using IAX with Firefly, so that might just be the

Asterisk VS. Skype
This might have been talked about before, but I'm posting anyhow.
I've got down to testing Asterisk yesterday, and I couldn't help but
compare it with Skype (a Windoze only product, yet, but extremely
efficient for some reason).
Skype has almost unperceptible delay (LAN), while there is almost half a
second of delay regardless of the codec on Asterisk.
An even if we were to

IAX - lan ip phones.
Apart from the "virbiage" FT-201 which hasn't seen the light of day
yet,
just wondering if there are any other IAX phonesets around
available NOW.
Don't get me wrong, the Virbiage unit seem to be in the right price
range, its just not available yet...

IAX2 Max Retries dropped calls Firefly
Hi
We've recently set up and are using with success 1.0.7 using a Junghanns
quadbri card to BRI ISDN, and Firefly with IAX2 protocol as softphones Works
very well, however we're getting cases where sometimes the call just drops.
>From setting more verbose modes we get a log which is shown below. The problem
seems to be the maxretries message which comes from chan_iax2. We are using

IAX FXS.. Any experience with...
http://www.x100p.com/products_2.htm
Anyone ever use this box? How's it compare with the Iaxy? I'd like to
buy one or the other.. The Iaxy is appealing because to me, it seems
less "no name", but this one says that it supports using hostnames,
whereas apparently the iaxy only supports IP addresses?? That's
appealing to the dynamic DNS guy in me! :-)

FireFly Problems
How come FireFly doesn't give me an Inband DTMF option? Only RFC2833 and
Info. RFC2833 is the default, so I left it that way. I also unchecked all
the codecs except g711ulaw to force that codecs usage. However, when I go to
place a call, I get this:
Nov 3 13:18:44 WARNING[53641241]: dsp.c:1468 ast_dsp_process: Inband DTMF
is not supported on codec G.711 u-law. Use RFC2833

FireFly Problem
G'Day,
I have a bit of FireFly problem that hopefully someone has seen before.
What happens is if I make to or receive a call from the FireFly network
the call will connect successfully. However, around 10 seconds after I
answer the call I am disconnected. The weird thing is same thing happens
if I make a call.
I've had a look at the * console and I can't see that my * PBX drops

Firefly 2 third-party version?
I found version 2.0.0 of Firefly on the Freshtel site, but it only has
the network setup options for the Freshtel network, despite the final
statement on the page http://www.freshtel.net/firefly/download/ that
says:
-----------------
Standalone SIP / IAX mode:
If you want to use Firefly on our network (with your own voicemail etc.)
you will need to register a Firefly number. However, you can
