* fax reliability between ISDN PRI and FXS ports
Hi, I am building for a customer an * solution that will use 2 Digium cards. 1 x TE110P (T1 ISDN PRI) 1 x TDM40B (4 analog ports, 2 for faxes, 2 for extensions) The system will be connected to the PSTN through the T1 ISDN PRI interface. All customer extensions will be SIP phones except 2 fax machines that will use the analog FXS ports on the TDM40B card. I have been investigating on this

modem data calls through FXS / FXO digium cards failing
Hi guys, I think I posted on this issue before, but didn't get a response. I've still not been able to resolve the issue. I've got a small installation of Asterisk running one 4 port FXS Digium card and 1 FXO Digium card. I'm having difficulty routing modem call through one of the extensions out through the FXO card. By difficulty, I mean it won't work. The calls

USB modem on centos
I am playing with a USR (us robotics) USB modem model 5637. in the past I used internal modems and had no issues. One this unit I plugged it in, dmesg says its recogized. I did "ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/ttyS4" this works. I then did "cu -l /dev/ttyS4" type "AT" and I get OK... looking good. When I "ATDT my number" I get a connection at 1200 baud (which I

Adding an MT9234ZBA-USB modem to CentOS6.3
How, exactly, does CentOS-6.3 with udev recognize an USB modem when it is plugged in. How is it indicated? What other configuration is required? I can find the modem in /sys/class/tty and I can get the attributes using udevadm but I do not see anything in ps that refers to the modem device. -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. External fax modem takeover of fxo?
Given all the issues with the fax DSP code and reliability, I'm looking into the option of using an external fax modem instead of trying to shoehorn asterisk into handling faxes properly... I'm thinking of hooking up the faxmodem to the line directly, then hooking the X100P to the modem's Phone port. Can I enable fax detection and use the fax extension to spawn an external command

Best way to connect analog modem
Hello Asterisk fans, I try to connect an analog modem to Asterisk. The modems are connected e.g. to alarm systems or a cash terminals (POS). As PSTN-Interface I'm using a Wildcard TE110P (E1). Is it possible to connect the modems to an ATA? Which ATA I should use for that scenarios? Cheers Bastian ____________ Virus checked by G DATA AntiVirusKit Version: AVK 17.1806 from 04.01.2007 Virus

Re: OT: fax obsoleted? Was: Re: Fax via email (Steve Underwood)
Old managers will change its the LaLawyershat don't change. Every dam law office that I been in has at least one fax machine that is constantly printing something out. But to say fax is dead is an understatement. AT&T said that about teletype service, you know 50 - 300 baud service, years ago and then one day they noticed that traffic across their teletype seservicetarted growing. If

Modem support via Cisco FXS ports?
I need to do some modem testing at work, just to make sure that I can dial into an emergency serial console modem before I put it into a box and ship it. Unfortunately, we don't have easy access to a pair of POTS lines in the office right now. Looking around the test lab, we have a Cisco 3640 with a 2FXS VIC in it. I can plug my laptop's modem into one FXS port, and plug the serial

Detecting disconnect on TDM400P with 3 FXO ports and 1 FXS port
Hellow everyone, here's an other newby question. I've got a * configured with the card in the subject line. At times Asterisk fails to notice a disconet from the incoming line going into one of the FXO ports. Consequently it just keeps the line off-hook for ever and that causes my provider to mark the line aut of order. Is there any way to "help" Asterisk notice the disconect?

Faxing with Asterisk using both ISDN and FXS
Hi everyone, I have a question about faxing. I am running Asterisk SVN-trunk-r7498 on a ubuntu server and everything is going fine. I have a tdm40b, a tdm04b and an avm fritz!card pci plugged on it. Here is what I'd like to do: Receiving fax via the ISDN avm fritz!card, sending the fax via email (for the moment I know I can do that) but also routing the fax trough my old fax machine which

rsync over Iridium modem, 240 bytes per second
Dear rsync gurus, I'm using rsync to transfer large amounts (megabytes per day!) of data over an Iridium modem link (240 bytes per second) from Antarctica. One problem is that the Iridium link has a mean uptime of perhaps 30 minutes. Implementing partial transfers is crucial, so I was using rsync -av --partial --partial-dir=.rsync myfiles user@host: The files are pre-compressed with

Analog modems behind an Asterisk server?
Hello, we would like to hook up analog modems behind an Asterisk server, and we're very interested in the experiences that others have made when attempting that. We assume that there are no inherent problems with modems in respect to the Asterisk software, but it appears that the FXO/FXS hardware restricts this kind of a setup to lower data transmission rates, is this correct? Currently,
