Echo Canceller Wiring (Tellabs.. HOWTO..?)
Hello,
I have been researching Echo Can's for a while now, and wanted to post
this out to the list to solicit feedback (and if my assumptions are
correct, hopefully help others out)...
If anyone out there knows anything about wiring up an Echo Can, and my
outline below is incorrect, please let the me/list know..
I have posted the Documents I received from Tellabs at:

Hardwiring a Tellabs echo canceller - help req
Hi All, Greg has been a huge help getting me going with this tellabs echo
can, but I'm still having some problems getting it to work... I suspect I
wired it up incorrectly, so I thought I'd see if anyone can point me in the
right direction. Digium tech support pointed me to this doc for a standard
T1 cable:

Faxing with Asterisk 1.8.4 & T.38
Hi -
I am looking for suggestions for ITSPs for faxing with asterisk 1.8. We are based in the US, so would need an ITSP with US DIDs.
#1) We would like to use Fax For Asterisk with asterisk 1.8.4 in order to receive faxes via T.38. Sending faxes is not a requirement. Does anyone have a working asterisk 1.8.4 configuration and ITSP provider that they can recommend? We have been trying T.38

two tellabs 2572 echo board in a 253c mounting assembly?
Anyone gotten two of the 2572 echo canceller cards to work in a 253c mounting assembly? I can get one to work, but when I install two, one always fails. I've tried all my cards solo in the enclosure, on each side, and they all work properly when only 1 is installed, however, when I install two, one of them will come up, but the other always fails. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Help Solving Asterisk Lockups
I am currently testing a new Asterisk installation. The server has a T100P
connected to a PRI, and about 50 Polycom IP600 phones connected via the
local network. Every couple hours, Asterisk randomly stops responding to
all calls, both incoming on the PRI and calls from the SIP phones. I'm not
sure how or where to start debugging it.
When Asterisk stops working I can still connect to

Tellabs echo can, can someone wire mine up for $?
Hello All,
I have a tellabs 2572 EC, and I was wondering if anyone with experience
can wire this up for me...
I have the proper tools and info, but not the time. It's easier to send
it out and get it done. I know kb1_kanobe originally started the wiki
thread, and rather than risking the card, would it be possible for me to
send it out to him, have him do it, and send it back?
Not to say I

Tellabs 2572 EC Photos here.
Hello Dan,
Have a look at this link:
http://www.adcomcorp.com/asterisk/tellabs
I got those pictures up there, may be of help. In essence, 1 pair is
either a tx pair or an rx pair.
If I recall, Orange and Green should be one side, and blue brown should
be the other side.
I tried to upload them to the wiki (even 40% size) but they didn't show
up for some reason...
Files are large on the

Tellabs and a PRI
Another question,
Is anybody using the Tellabs 2572 EC with a PRI. When we moved from our
analog lines to a PRI, I thought it would be simple stuff moving the EC
to the PRI. Changed signaling, made sure that channel 24 wasn't being
ECd and everything came up. But, I was getting complaints of random echo
on the PRI. Local echo. Also, we weren?t able to do any kind of modem
dial-outs (Adit

Tellabs 2572 Configuration Advice?
Can anyone share any advice / documentation on how to configure a Tellabs
2572 T1 echo canceller? I connected one between a T100P and an Adtran
TA750 FXO/FXS channelbank, but when echo cancellation is active I get
a LOT of snap-crackle-pop (and other problems) on the line.
The 2572 has a bunch of configuration options and they're impossible to
guess without documentation, which I cannot find

T1 Hardware Echo Can
Hello,
After reading the lists and taking reccomendations from TC, I have finally
given up on the echo can built into asterisk. I am sick of hearing
complaints from users, so the money spent on a hardware echo can will be
worth its weight in gold.
I am curious however, about some setup and component requirements. It
seems as if every telecom place I call, either never calls back or doesn't

Software E.C. Along with Tellabs
Since putting my Tellabs EC into place around 2 weeks ago, the echo
problem has almost been eliminated. Reports of some very faint echo,
but everybody is happy.
My question is, if I were to also turn on the Asterisk Software EC,
would this remove any residual echo that may make it past the Tellabs
Hardware EC.
Thanks,
Doug

Some questions re. T1 cards & QoS
I've been asked to assess the cost of implementing Asterisk with a
single T1 line in one of our offices. I've had plenty of experience
w/ TDM400 cards, but T1 is new for me so a couple of questions:
1) Will I need a digital or analogue interface card? I expect digital
is the answer, but the Digium web site said something about analogue
cards being able to support "provider T1

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs.
A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows:
1 - 4
2 - 5
3 - NU
4 - 1
5 - 2
6 - NU
7 - NU
8 - NU
NU = Not Used
I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality
Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you
should be fine. As far as the shielding

Wildcard TDM400P (TDM40B) connectors
Hi,
I'm no phone guy but I've been having quite a bit of fun messing with
Asterisk. I just unwrapped my new Wildcard TDM400P (TDM40B) which is the new
4 port FXS PCI card. It has 4 RJ45 connectors and I'd like to hookup 4
regular phones which are RJ11. If I crip RJ45 connectors to the phone cords
do I simple use the center two pins (pins 4 and 5)?
Thanks,
Randy Smith

Channelized T1, SIP phones, HW Echo Canceller
I have a channelized T1 coming in from our telco, terminated onto a TE405.
There are three channelbanks serving internal analog extensions, and about
10 Cisco 7960s.
I have no reports of echo on the analog extensions (as expected). The
7960 users complain of occasional echo (seems like 1 in 5 calls). Only
the SIP user hears the echo, not the caller.
I have echocancel=yes, echotraining=yes,

Tweaking AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
Using TDM400's here and I have tried everything to cure the echo. I
have used the Milliwatt test from the telco and from asterisk to tune
RX/TX gain via a patched ztmonitor. What happens is I experience
midcall echo. I turned on aggressive_suppressor and it seems to do
great. The problem happens with misc. noise around the office will
cause it to mute the other end of a phone call while

Amphenol cables?
A little off-topic maybe, but it's still for the Adit used with Asterisk. ;)
I wonder where I can buy 50 pin Amphenol cables, with connector on one side, and open cables on the other for mounting in our own patch panels.
In Europe, or Sweden preferably.
It's said to be very common on telcos, but I can't find it for sale anywhere!
Thanks!
