Rspec compatibility issue
I''m trying to get Rspec working. Using the installing 1.0.7 & the Rails plugin, I tried one of the examples on Rspec''s website and produced the following error: ############################################################################ Your RSpec on Rails plugin is incompatible with your installed RSpec. RSpec : 1.0.7 (r2332) RSpec on Rails : r2331 Make sure

Formatting runner output as HTML
I found documentation on Runner & calling Spec on the command line. I''m able to run it on multiple models or a single one and format the output as HTML now. Previously I used the Rake task expecting it to behave the same way passing --format html:path/to/file.html or setting it somehow in spec.opts. But I''m not quite there yet. Should the Rake task work the same way or is

I can''t make RSpec 1.0.8 run in Rails 1.2.3
I followed the directions on the site: ruby script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/tags/CURRENT/rspec ruby script/plugin install svn://rubyforge.org/var/svn/rspec/tags/REL_1_0_8/rspec_on_rails ruby script/generate rspec And apparently everything was ok. But when I do a "rake spec" on the app folder none of the Rails models are visible. Here is the error: (in

broken URL on rspec.info
Hey folks. I was looking for the mailing list archive up on rspec.info. I clicked on the "community" link and received the URL "http://ey01-s00414/community/". This isn''t correct, obviously. The hint shows it as, "http://rspec.info/community". Where is the mailing list archive? How far back does it go? I''d really like to read back through it

FW: FW: Specifying spec and output format inline?
One more try? I just want the script to save the rspec output to an html file when the script is run. In this case, the script will be run from SciTE using F5, rather than by command line. Is there a way to specify this within the ruby script? ________________________________ From: rspec-users-bounces at rubyforge.org [mailto:rspec-users-bounces at rubyforge.org] On Behalf Of Adam Reed

RSpec for dummies screencast?
Does anyone know of any RSpec screencasts for dummies, like me :) I have a Java background, but I have never written a java test in my life. I''ve never learned about TDD or BDD so I''m totally blank on everything that has anything to do with testing and stuff. Where should I start?!? ;) Christian... --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this

heres how to get color output in rspec_autotest with rspec 0.7.5
In case anyone else is trying to make this work, here is what I did (Before 0.7.4 I had patched the regex in zentest redgreen, but that is not used any more) To use directly, it is very simple. In rspec_autotest/lib/ rspec_autotest.rb, add a -c to the spec_command in the initializer function: @spec_command = "spec -c --diff unified" This won''t help however if you want

Webistrano on Windows
Greetings. I just read a note on Webistrano''s website about Webistrano not running on Windows. Does anyone know if there''s a patch to get it running? I''d like to use this tool, but I''m using Windows XP for the time being and need to deploy from there. When I tried running Webistrano for the first time last night it threw an exception when trying to start the

Autotest with rspec HTML output
Hey all, I was just wondering if any one has played around with getting autotest''s rspec integration working with rspec''s HTML output. I really like how in the rspec textmate bundle the context of the failing code is inlined with the failing spec along with the exact line highlighted and a link to the exact spot in reference. However, I rarely use this nice output since

new home for the rspec website
Hi all, We''ve moved the rspec website to http://rspec.info. We want http://rspec.org, of course, but someone is squatting on and has yet to respond to my email :( The 1.1.0 docs are there. The 1.0.8 docs are still at http://rspec.rubyforge.org for the time being. We''ll be archiving them at the new site soon. This new site is hosted on our shiny new sponsored slice at Engine

spec.opts: questions about formatters, etc.
Questions concerning spec.opts: 1. Am I correct in believing that each option should go on a separate line of spec.opts in the rails spec directory? If this is so, why is it so? 2. Using a formatter in spec.opts doesn''t seem to work. Here is my spec.opts file: --colour -f s and this is what happens when I run the rake task: Couldn''t find formatter class s Make

patch for html display
All, I''ve found that the html view for the rspec formatter falls to pieces with Rails 2.02 and rspec 1.10. Has anyone else run into this trouble? Here''s a monkey patch that fixes the problem. A more elegant fix would be in order, but this gets the job done: Index: /Users/timcharper/www/exchange/vendor/plugins/rspec/lib/spec/runner/formatter/text_mate_formatter.rb

Programmatically counting RSpec tests?
If I have an object `obj` that is a SpecTask, and subsequently invoke it, is there a way to programmatically determine the number of tests that were successful, failed, and pending as a result of running that SpecTask? -- John Feminella Principal Consultant, Distilled Brilliance

Who''s using --format rdoc
I''m doing some housekeeping and just realised that the rdoc formatter produces gibberish: http://rspec.rubyforge.org/rdoc/files/EXAMPLES_rd.html Will anyone protest if I just go ahead and remove it? (I can''t imagine anyone using it, especially with the much better HTML formatter) Aslak

Canonical way to generate RSpec HTML report in Rails app
Hi! I was just wondering how you typically generate a spec HTML report in a Rails app. Currently I''m doing something like this: spec spec -f h:spec/spec_report.html But that seems sort of clumsy and I would have thought that there was a rake task for it. Have I overlooked something? Thanks! Peter ---------------------------- Peter Marklund Garvar Lundins Gr?nd 7 11220 Stockholm

changes in rspec 2.4 break ci_reporter
Hi I use the ci_reporter gem for builds on my CI machine (hudson). Prior to rspec 2.4, environment options would override commandline options. So the gem used this to change the formatter and require its files. In 2.4, that order has been reversed. the thing is 2.4 supports multiple formatters, so there is another suggestion. Going beyond the default html formatter/report?
Hi! I wonder does anybody planning to go beyond the default html formatter/report? The current html report is nice and green but what about to go a little silly and enable also user input. For example to let customer to add a new pending spec, comments etc. I feel it might be mentally easier for some customers to jump into spec world when it is possible to give input at "the same
