Cisco 7960 won't dial (sccp)
I'm trying to setup a couple of Cisco 7960's in asterisk. I have asterisk
working fine for sip clients, and can call the 7960's just fine, but
I can't seem to dial out on them.
As soon as I enter the first digit, the phone attempts to dial it without
waiting for the rest. I've changed timeout settings, etc but can't seem to
get it to work. Any ideas?

Cisco 7960 sccp, Skinny and 1.4
Hi All,
I'm thinking of creating a new asterisk server using the latest 1.4
stable release to replace my ageing Asterisk SVN-branch-1.2-r7231 (its
been a while!).
My only concern - my phones are Cisco 7960's (with sccp firmware 7.2
loaded) and to support them better, I remember compiling in a skinny(?)
driver to replace the (from what I could tell) basic in built sccp
support. After

cisco 7960 sccp firmware version?
I have some Cisco 7960's and want to use them with SCCP - I have gotten
it working with a few different firmware versions but all seem a little
flakey. I know that SCCP is not as solid as SIP but am wondering, which
firmware version is advised for use with chan_sccp from

Cisco 7936 Conference Phone - SIP or SCCP?
Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience getting a 7936 to work with Asterisk?
Do you need to use SCCP or is there a SIP image for the phone? I have a few
7960G's and they are working with SIP, just curious if the config of the
conference phone is the same and if anybody has any good setup links.
Thanks!

How to unlock old SCCP Cisco 7960 ?
Hi,
An Cisco 7960 ipphone has been set to SCCP firmware by one of our students.
I want to set it to 7.5 SIP firmware and I've been unsuccessful yet.
Firmware versions are SCCP 3.0 (Source: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_ipphon/english/ipp7960/addprot/mgcp/frmwrup.htm#wp1045789) ie:

Cisco contract for 7940/7960 firmware access
Maybe not the place for this but thought I'd post the info for others. I
purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert to SIP for *. I
know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd read on
voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow me
to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through
a reseller in the UK.

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP functionality questions
Hello,
I'm considering using Asterisk with some type of Cisco phone, and currently
considering either the 7940 or 7960 because of its more-complete functionality
(compared to the 7905).
I'm currently wondering:
Do all the expected functions (transfer, conference, voice mail, message
waiting indicator, etc.) work normally with Asterisk over SIP?
What caveats are known about using

Cisco 7960 SIP + 7914
I found a few mentions of the 7914 being used with Asterisk, these all
covered SCCP/skinny though. Does anyone know if the 7914 can even be
used with SIP? If so, any pointers? Is it a services thing? Anyone get
the operator (line/extension status) to work with it. Thanks for the
help, Cisco doesn't even mention ANYTHING about SIP + the 7914.

Cisco 7960 SIP Upgrade
I couldn't figure it out on my own. I tried to purchase a Smartnet for the phone, but the original 7960 is not supported.
Is it technically possible and if so, what would it cost me to have someone remote into my network and upgrade my SCCP 7960 to the latest SIP firmware?

Help w/ Asterisk Cisco IP phone and SCCP
I have a new asterisk installation (1.4.2) that is working fine with
SIP. Now I'm trying to add 2 cisco ip phones (7960) running SCCP
(latest chan_sccp).
I have the phones booted, and the tftp directory all setup, etc. But
the phones do not quite work right. When I lift the handset I only get
a dial-tone 1 out of 5 or so times I try, though hitting the speaker
button works. I can dial

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features
with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end
phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to
telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a
development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are
so obscure.
There seems to be a fair amount

Anyone had a Cisco 7970 working with
Yes, but the 7970 relies on the very latest SCCP protocol version which was
introduced with Call Manager 4.0. As far as I know the SCCP module for
Asterisk doesn't support the latest SCCP version so I don't think it will
work. The 7960 works with the older versions of SCCP. I have yet to hear
of anyone getting the 7970 to work with *. If someone has please update

Problem with chan_sccp and cisco 7960
Hi !
On Cisco 7960 (with or without 7914 add-on module) when I press speakerphone
button (or select line with line button - which automatically put second
line on speakerphone) after about 15-20 seconds of dialtone Asterisk stable
dies (seg fault). Tested versions of Asterisk are 1.0.2, 1.0.3 or 1.0.5,
chan_sccp is newest form CVS of chann-sccp.sourceforge.net ). Firmware of

Weird Error When upgrading 7960G to 8.2
Hello All,
I just picked up 10 new 7960G's and having a hardtime upgrading the
firmware on them. We already have 30 or 40 of these phones in
production. Typically when I get a new phone, I just plug it into the
voice vlan and it auto grades to the firmware in OS79XX.txt. Now whats
happening is im getting a weird error during the reading of that file.
Here's the output from the TFTP

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series.
The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here.
For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see:

The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it
will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the

RE: Cisco 7960 upgrade to SIP
I recently upgraded a Cisco 7960 to the SIP firmware, it worked fine without
a "call-manager". I just put the SIP firmware and associated config files
in the TFTP directory of my asterisk server so that the phone could pull the
firmware off of my asterisk server via TFTP. It took me about 5 minutes
maximum to get the phone working with SIP through asterisk. NO Call-manager

OT - Cisco 7960 functionality
Can anyone point me to info on how to change the functionality of the
SIP (7.4) 7960's. We previously had an SCCP firmware on the phone and
the users want the phone to work like it used too. Here are some examples:
The users do not want to push the new call softkey or the speaker button
in order to dial a call. They want to be able to just begin dialing the
number.

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Indeed this might be the failing point... Unfortunately, because I have no
Cisco CCO account anymore, I have no access to firmware... I will try to find
a copy of an old firmware for these phones. If I can find one, I hope it
fixes my problem.
Thanks,
Brad
