School Software with WINE
Hello,
The network administrators for the school I work for have recent left
and also left the network in a rather large mess. There are files such
as pictures being stored in random folders on random computers all
around the network leaving valuable data vulnerable. I'm hoping to
move over from the older windows system to a new linux based thin

Click to dial apps always show from "asterisk"
We have calls that originate click-to-dial apps that use the manager
interface. As most of you know these apps first ring your handset so that
you pickup the handset and then place the outbound call once you have picked
up.
When they first ring my handset (before me picking up the handset) the call
shows as being "from asterisk". Is there any way to change this "from" name

getting call status using Manager API
I am originating a call using the "Originate" action in the Manager API. It
calls one party, then when they answer does the "Dial" application and calls
another party and connects the two.
Is there a way using the Manager API to check back later on the status of
this call (is it still up, etc.)?
I have found the "Status" API action, but I don't know how to get

Cisco 7970 SIP won't update?
Does anyone know what triggers the 7970 to update its config? I
was able to get it to update to SIP, but the config I used initially
won't go away. I am making small changes to the SEPxxx.cnf.xml file and
rebooting the phone, the phone is downloading the (TFTP) new config
file, but I don't see any change on the phone itself.
I've looked at the VersionStamp and incremented that, but

GUI's for teaching
Dear All,
There is no advantage of GUI over CLI, IMO. The real
issue is the answer to the questions: "What should I
do next?" or "What am I allowed to do here?"
A "nice" interface, not necessarily GUI, will offer
friendly answers: "I was expecting you to do _this_"
or "In this situation you are allowed to do _these
things_"
You see, it's all

Hi,
This is to share my experience of using GUI's for using various
Quality Management/Assurance tools.
A few days back, I had I had written a mail about Box plots and

Asterisk GUIs at Astricon * REMINDER *
I'm working with the final details of the Astricon agenda. I haven't
got anything so far on Asterisk GUI's and there are plenty of projects
out there. I would like to invite developer's of Asterisk GUI's, both
open source and commercial, to participate.
What I'm thinking of is giving each GUI a slot of 10-15 minutes for
a presentation and then a panel discussion on the GUI

GUI that supports virtual PBX's/users
A friend of mine runs a small office building, 10-15 tenants. Each have
their own company, their own thing, renting space from him. His main PBX
is getting dated and his tenants are complaining. I was telling him about
Asterisk but his main concern is he doesn't want to have to always be the
one to add/remove extensions, or change the IVR hours or whatever.
Does anybody know of a free or

Poor man''s backup by attaching/detaching mirror drives on a _striped_ pool?
Hi,
one quick&dirty way of backing up a pool that is a mirror of two devices is to
zpool attach a third one, wait for the resilvering to finish, then zpool detach
it again.
The third device then can be used as a poor man''s simple backup.
Has anybody tried it yet with a striped mirror? What if the pool is
composed out of two mirrors? Can I attach devices to both mirrors, let them

"gui interfaces"
hello :-)
first i should say im a very happy user of your product and youre doing a
great job :)
just looked at your web page and saw a link which said "gui interfaces" ..
but since gui stands for graphical user interface .. the link actually says
'graphical user interface interfaces' .. shouldnt this be changed to "gui's"
or "graphical user interfaces"?
