Difficulty in writing R code for one pool dynamic model
Hi everyone, I was trying to mode the following exercise using R. The question: Set up a one pool model using numericintegration. The model will run from time 1 to time 30 using a time step of 1.The pool (A) will be fed by flux "inA" at a rate of 5 units per hour anddrained by flux "outA" at a rate of 20% per hour. At time 0, A has 5units. At time 30, what is the pool size of

simple association question
I have two models, Donor and Contribution, and have has_many and belongs_to set respectively. My question is regarding creation of associated objects. I''ll let the code speak: me = Donor.find(1) contribution = me.contributions.create do |e| e.amount = 164.00 e.category = Category.find(1) end I thought this was valid, but it doesn''t work properly - it appears to

Two matrix loop
Hi, I'm trying to create a distance matrix. And it works out somewhat ok. However, I suspect that there are some efficiency issues with my efforts. Plz have a look at this: donor <- matrix(c(3,1,2,3,3,1,4,3,5,1,3,2), ncol=4) receiver <- matrix(c(1,4,3,2,4,3,1,5,1,3,2,1,4,5,3,5,1,3,2,4,5,1,2,3,1,4,5,5,1,2,1,3,4,3,2,5,5,1,4,2,5,4,3,2), ncol=4) The above creates my two matrices. I have

Using Tags in Applications
I''ve been contemplating the utilization of "tags" functionality for categorizing records in my application. For example, a record can have any tag associated with them: volunteer, donor, phone_caller, etc. (Much like delicious) Has anyone already laid out a good architecture for implementing this on the DB, or other medium? I''m sure I can custom build something, but

FerretDonors page added to wiki
Hey folks, I''ve just added a FerretDonors page to the Wiki (for those interested we have raised $3915 to date). Currently it just has a list of donors but I would like to add links for each donor to their personal and/or business websites. This is something I should have done a long time ago. I''d love to hear any suggestions as to how I can better recognize these

Partially crossed and nested random factors in lme/lmer
Hi all, I am not a very proficient R-user yet, so I hope I am not wasting people?s time. I want to run a linear mixed model with 3 random factors (A, B, C) where A and B are partially crossed and C is nested within B. I understand that this is not easily possible using lme but it might be using lmer. I encountered two problems when trying: Firstly, I can enter two random factors in lmer but

Recommnded system
Can't find any recommended system specs on the website. What are they? Will it run well on a Celeron 1GHz? How about a 700Mhz? I'm asking because the company I'm hosting through is running a special on 700Mhz and 1Ghz servers, and if Icecast will run on these, I may just go ahead and lease 4-5 more to move my icecast stuff onto dedicated servers.

Call Center
Hi All Has anyone used Asterisk for a Call Center operation? What I mean is: given a list of phone numbers, can Asterisk dial each number, play a message and accept some DTMF? I ask because I am an employee of a non-profit company based in San Diego, CA. I already evaluated Voicent and Voxeo. The former has expensive licensing terms and the latter is not best suited for a call center. I would

I've just upgraded from r1865 to r2103. After doing so Input voltage for an APC RS900 no longer appears on the web tools graph. Instead of seeing a bar indicating Input Voltage the words "Not Supported" appears. Why does the graph no longer report Input Voltage when selecting "All Data" does; Back-UPS RS 900 battery.charge : 47 battery.charge.low : 10

password problems on upgrade to 2.0.4
Hello, I just upgraded to samba 2.0.4b from 1.9.18 on OSF/1 V 4.0 Everything used to work fine in 1.9, and everything works fine now, except that one of our users can't connect to anything from Windows NT. I've also tried to use smbclient from her Unix account, and get the error: >smbclient \\\\clang\\public >Added interface ip=128.104.25.251 bcast=128.104.25.255
