It gets all the way through the install, and then when it reboots, grub can't find the kernel. Grub can't find the kernel because the kernel was not instaled for some reason? I looked at the box through rescue mode and in /boot there is no kernel. Any ideas what might have happened? Cheers...james

I have recently deployed a number of CentOS-3.4 boxes and I am seeing problems with rpm database apparent corruption. db4 errors like DB_PAGE_NOTFOUND. I have found that using LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 seems to fix the problem but I can''t find much info on why or if doing that is good or bad. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but on a number of CentOS-3 boxes I had a problem when you log out from X/Gnome it would take ages (> 1 min) to log out. Saving the session made it quicker for the next logout, but the culprit appears to be the rhn-applet. Uninstall that rpm and problem solved. This is just a minor annoyance, but I wondered if anyone has any insights. When I first boot the system and log in to Gnome, and then plug in e.g. a USB stick or compact flash card, I get an icon for it on the desktop. I can right-click on this icon to "eject" the filesystem, etc. Eventually, though, for no obvious reason, this stops working and I no longer get an icon when I insert a
