Software only Asterisk PBX (commercial)
Are there any switchvox/fonality type Asterisk based PBXs where I can
buy just the software? I don't want to buy their 'bundles' that come
with junky PC hardware. I just want their software/GUI to run on my
hardware.
Does Asterisk BE come with a GUI management console for managing
phones, queues, VM and the like?

Switchvox vs Asterisk codebase
Does anyone know what version of Asterisk Switchvox uses, and if it is
modified in any way? FWIW, I am dealing with a provider that claims
compatibility with Switchvox but not Asterisk for their SIP trunking
service.

Switchvox feedback
I have a customer that wants to get switchvox, since I have never used
it, I would like to hear some feedback from active users of switchvox.
In specific:
1. Does it use realtime or conf files
2. Is it possible to change it manually?
3. Is SSH access to login to console/shell available?
4. Are you or your customers happy with the user interface?

SwitchVox and Asterisk
Hello,
I need to have an extension on a SwitchVox server dial out to one on an
Asterisk (FreePBX actually) box which will host a voice directory. The
Asterisk server will then need to dial one of the SwitchVox extensions if
it gets a voice match.
Anyone has done that, and could let me know how? So far it looks like IAX
peering (what SW calls "SwitchVox peering") could work?
Thanks in

looking for input on broadband router with QoS and VPN support
Hi,
We're installing an * box next week (pbxtra from fonality) and I'm
trying to come up with a solution for remote users that want a phone in
their home. I need VPN and QoS capability, wireless support would be a
nice to have. Ethernet handoff is fine, i don't need integrated dsl or
cable modem...
I've been googling and cruising the list and can find bits and pieces

Switchvox
I just inherited a client that is using a Switchvox system. I normally
install a CentOS based system with freePBX and some custom endpoint
management stuff for Polycom phones. This Switchvox is making me feel a
bit stifled. I am having nightmares of another recent encounter with
Trixbox Pro.
Can I really not ssh into this box? If I could is there anything useful
that I might change

OT: SwitchVox Mailing List?
Does anybody know of a Similar list for SwitchVoX?
And would like to post to proper list if one is available.
I had posted on digium forum, but have not received any responses yet.

Digium acquires Switchvox
As you may have heard, Digium announced this morning that it's acquired Switchvox, a well known provider of Asterisk-based phone systems. Since several people have already asked me about the deal, I figured I'd let you all know my feelings on the matter. First of all, let me say that I personally think this is a great thing for all the parties involved. Obviously this gives Digium a

Switchvox HA options
What are the HA options for Switchvox systems?
Is it possible to set up redundant systems with DRBD?
I know on the digium website they talk about "Optional cold spare
failover" What does this mean? Is this an active spare ready for some
sort of automated failover?
Thanks for you help,

What is acceptable network latency for voipconnection?
That "program" will be detected by your ISP within a day or so,
determined to be a virus, and your service will get disconnected...which
n turn will not help your latency or jitter at all.
VoIP can tolerate a fair amount of latency; latency over about 100ms is
heard as a perceptible delay resulting in a connection that appears to
be half duplex.
Jitter, on the other had, is the real

TAPI and Asterisk
Funny how a topic will come up that you have never dealt with before, and
suddenly it comes up from multiple directions at the same time. I was
recently involved in a meeting where TAPI (which I understand only
vaguely) was proposed as way to link a custom application to Asterisk for
outbound and inbound call processing, much like SugarCRM and probably
others are doing.
Today I was asked by

fonality new version
Looks like some nice new features in fonality with their find me/follow
me functionality

love the 'boss overide' call routing - way overdue. I haven't seen the
UI on this yet so cant comment on how well they've implemented it but
nice to see someone implementing intelligent user controlled call

Client saw something shiney -- Fonality HUD
An Elastix client saw a Fonality HUD demo and fell in love.
I'm not a fan of Fonality as a company, but what do you think of HUD?
1) Does it bring real value?
2) Do I have alternatives?

Turnkey Samba 4 Solutions?
H - I'm a Resara Server user - Resara Server was a turnkey Samba 4 system.
I have been lurking on this list, trying to decide what way to go for the
future. I've seen some post regarding moving from Resara, but I'm not sure
if I want to "get my hands dirty" - I've enjoyed the simplicity of Resara.
Are there any other turnkey Samba solutions? Or simple cookbook solutions?

Switchvox Space Requirements
Can anybody give me a rough idea how much disk space is requiered for a
typical install? I want to install it in a system with solid state
storage and I don't want to buy more than I need. Would 1GB be enough?
Thanks,

Outlook Integration
I have been looking around for Outlook Integration for Asterisk. Saw
the Asterisk TAPI wiki page and also ran across this:
http://www.fonality.com/pop.cgi?page=pop_pbxtray.tt (PBXtray)
It looks like Fonality has managed to make an app that does screen
pops and allows click to dial. Has anyone else been able to get this
all to work successfully? Looks pretty slick.

FAX over T1
I have an existing Hylafax system using a mainpine 4 port board, 4 POTS lines.
Have a recently installed Asterisk system, with a dedicated T1 line. (Well, it's really a fonality system).
What would I need to do, or where is the reading material, for what I need to do, to convert the Hylafax server to use the T1 line? Reliably. Preferably to use DID's as well.
The current FAX works
