Menu tree for voicemailmain application
Is there a menu tree diagram somewhere for the Voicemailmain application? I know my users will ask for one, and before I started drawing my own I thought I'd see if someone already had. --- David Brodbeck, System Administrator InterClean Equipment, Inc. 3939 Bestech Drive Suite B Ypsilanti, MI 48197 (734) 975-2967 x221 (734) 975-1646 (fax)

Permissions problem...I must be overlooking *something*...
I have a share I can't seem to create files on, and I can't figure out why. I get "Access denied" from Windows, and the samba log shows this: [2004/07/13 10:52:26, 2] smbd/open.c:open_directory(1293) open_directory: failing create on read-only share [2004/07/13 10:52:26, 2] smbd/open.c:open_directory(1293) open_directory: failing create on read-only share The share has the

PDF printing problem - can't find Samba's file?
I'm sure this is something simple, but I can't figure it out. After a printing system upgrade, my old PDF-writer script (which acted as an lp input filter) stopped working. I took this as an opportunity to rewrite it to work straight from Samba. But I'm having an odd problem -- I can't find Samba's job file. Here's the entry: [pdf2] path = /export/spool

ACL propegation problem - any known issues?
We use POSIX ACLs (under ext2fs) with a fairly complicated set of permissions. Each folder has default permissions that should cause anything created under it to also have the correct permissions. What I'm seeing is occasionally a folder will be created and its default permissions are not set. When files are created under this folder, they of course have the wrong permissions because there

Connecting Asterisk to a Toshiba Strata system
I'm interested in setting up Asterisk as a voice mail system for our Toshiba Strata CTX100 PBX. Our current voice mail system connects to the PBX with four analog extensions. Does anyone have information on how to integrate this kind of system with Asterisk? I've looked at the legacy integration section of the Wiki, but it doesn't seem to have anything about Toshiba systems. ---

PDF printing problem - can't find Samba's spool file?
I'm still struggling with this, and people keep asking me why the PDF printer still isn't working...does anyone have any suggestions? -----Original Message----- From: David Brodbeck Sent: Monday, December 09, 2002 4:09 PM To: 'samba@samba.org' Subject: PDF printing problem - can't find Samba's file? Some users can't log in -- server shows username as "nobody"
Okay, this is a recurring problem that really has me frustrated. I have a samba server that's using security=server. There are four people who use it. It works fine for three of them, but the fourth one gets endlessly prompted for his password and is never allowed to log in. All are from NT 4.0 clients. What's really puzzling is that when I look at the log at debug level 2, I get the

In-band disconnect problem (legacy PBX) - asterisk doesn't hear t he touchtone?
The legacy PBX I'm working with does in-band disconnect notification -- it sends a * touchtone when the line is hung up. I've been trying to get this to work with Asterisk. I added a * extension to my menu context that plays "Goodbye" and hangs up. This works fine if I manually press *, but it never triggers when I hang up and the PBX sends it. I've plugged in an analog

using pam_winbind to authenticate PPP?
I'm trying to set up a Linux-based dialin server on our company network. I'd like to have PPP authenticate using winbindd, if possible. I feel like I've almost gotten it to work, but I can't quite get there. Files: /etc/pam.d/ppp: #%PAM-1.0 auth required pam_nologin.so auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_winbind.so account required

Some users can't log in -- server shows username as " nobody"
Hi I actually had this same problem when running up samba originally. Check that the user has a valid unix acount and that you have added that to the folder share/valid users section. Adobe Photoshop uses wrong permissions when saving, default ACLs and create mask being ignored.
One of our employees is having an odd problem with Adobe Photoshop. Files he saves with Photoshop are saved with permissions 777, completely ignoring both the create mask and the default ACL for the directory. Files he creates with other programs have the correct permissions. This has me stumped. It appears I can reproduce the problem at will. Client is Windows NT 4.0 SP6a and Adobe Photoshop

"chdir failed" - could someone please explain what this error mea ns?
For some time now I've had this type of error showing up in my logs: [2004/09/16 11:52:08, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(56) chdir (/export/downloads) failed I've Googled, I've looked at the source, and I still can't understand why this error appears. What's really odd is that everything seems to work fine, in spite of the error. Could someone please explain what

Problems logging in with MSCLIENT.
I'm running Samba 2.2.3 with winbind for authentication. Much to my surprise, I found I had a need to connect an MS-DOS system to the network. I'm using MSCLIENT to do so. I can successfully log into the domain and map drives on Windows NT servers, but I'm having trouble mapping Samba shares. Examining the log shows that the DOS machine is apparently trying to connect with a username

How to reduce size of samba binaries
Hi, I'd like to reduce the size of the samba binaries. smbd for instance is about 1.5 meg, which is way to much if you ask me. Is there a way to create smaller binaries, maybe by compiling differently? thanx, Dennis ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Realtime / sip.conf
I am currently in the process of testing out realtime support for sip.conf. I have followed all of the directions that are listed in the Wiki, but for some reason this does not work. When utilizing a flat file, I am able to register endpoints without any problems, and calls can proceed. One interesting side effect that I have noticed is that when I am using realtime for sip, I am unable to see

Linux as a workstation client
I'm exploring the idea of using Linux as a workstation OS for some of the users where I work. Most of the issues I've looked at seem resolvable, but I keep running into one sticking point. We rely heavily on shared folders on our Samba server, using ACLs to restrict things on a departmental basis. What I'd need is a way to mount these folders with the permissions of the current

about AGI command parsing
Hi, I still have some trouble with the AGI interface: - I can use EXEC now, but it never gives me the error returned by the executed application, if an error occurs - I can use ANSWER, but I have to put something else behind "ANSWER". If I say "ANSWER", I get "510 Invalid or unknown command". If I say "ANSWER ''" or "ANSWER ." or

Why am I getting this error?
I've been getting this one for a while, but since it doesn't seem to be causing any problems I'm just now getting around to asking about it. I'm sure it's something really dumb I'm overlooking, I just need another set of eyes to spot it for me. In log.smbd, many times a day: [2003/02/23 12:17:40, 0] smbd/service.c:set_current_service(59) chdir (/export/shared) failed
