What type of PRI setup is best
I am having my colo set up 2 PRI's for my new asterisk implementation. They asked the following... ##SNIP## What type (NI2, NTI, 4ESS, or 5ESS) and whether they want to be USER or NETWORK. If the equipment is flexible, NI2, with us as NETWORK is preferred. ##SNIP## We are using a digium quad span T1 card. What is the recommended setup? Thanks, Chris

PRI Test Lab
Hey Everyone, I would like to start testing/playing with PRI channels but I don't have access to a PRI line. Is it possible to do the equivilent of a crossover between two PRI Cards (say Digium's TE120P)? What I was thinking is that I could set one asterisk box up with a PRI card set as the TE and provide clocking and another box exactly the same but with the card setup as NT. I think

Using a TE405P to connect to an existing PBX
We originally purchased a TE405P so we could connect our Asterisk server directly to the T1 PRI from our provider, however due to all the problems reported with T1 PRI's interacting directly with Asterisk, we scrapped that idea and decided to stick with our Cisco router making the conversion to SIP. Anyways, we found a new potential use for it. We have an old location with an existing PBX,

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: whatcable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
I for one think it is a great idea to buy a book with hard earned money and wait a few days to a week just to get an answer to a question that is freely available on the internet immediately. Hard pressed to think of anything in the "book" that is not on with wiki with more up to date and useful information. -----Original Message----- From: Alexander Lopez

telco access ?s -- PRI, T1, POTS?
Hi guys, I'm new to the telco game and still pretty new to Asterisk, although I've been using it for a couple of months now and like most of what I see. At my office, we've got a small two extension setup w/ two Digium cards for a single FXO line and three FXS extensions, but I'm also working on designing a larger installation for a customer which will involve ~16 analog

Problems Connecting Two Asterisk Installs Via ISDN PRI Cards
I am trying to connect two machines to each other with an T1 crossover cable. The first machine has two TE120P cards - one connecting to the telco on an ISDN PRI. The second to a crossover T1 cable to a second machine which has one TE120P card. Telco <-cA-> Machine1 <-cB-> Machine2 Machine1: Two TE120P cards Machine2: One TE120P card cA: Standard T1 Cable cB: Crossover T1

Definity Asterisk CallerID Issue
I am hoping someone could shed some light and point me in the right direction? I'm attempting to get callerid work between an Avaya Definity PBX and Asterisk via TE110P connected via T1/PRI Crossover PRI. From the Definity side I've searched endlessly and came with an example which we modeled as close as we can, but still no luck. While doing PRI intense debug span 1 in I see a couple

DID trunks -- equipment requirement
Hi guys, I posted a somewhat similar question about a month ago and got a thoughtful resonse from Steven Critchfield, but I've got a quick follow up question to it. I'm looking to setup a 16 extension / 10-14 phone line Asterisk install for a customer who would like to have DID numbers for the extensions, since they're currently on Centrex and already have the 1-to-1

Problem connecting a TE410P to an E1/IP equipment
Hi, I'm trying to connect a PC with a TE410P to an E1/IP equipment. Unfortunately I keep getting a yellow alarm from zaptel (in zttool) and a Loss of Framing alarm on the remote equipment. The E1/IP is connected on the other side to a PRI interface on a GSM MSC. I have configured the span as: span=1,1,0,ccs,hdb3 (also tried span=1,0,0,ccs,hdb3) and the channels as: bchan=1-15,17-31

Resource routing error with the route equipment/new
I''m having an issue with resource routing after running a "ruby script/generate scaffold equipment" command. I did not make any changes to the equipment model/controller/views after running this. dacs support on Digium T1 equipment.
Heya everybody. I have been peering into the code for zaptel for a while now, I am keenly interested in the dacs support, being able to apparently redirect certain spans to other spans. Not sure if this has to be on the same T1 interface or can be used between T1 interfaces on the same board or possible two different cards. Any information on the functionality of this would be greatly

OT: USB T1/E1 Interface?
Just curious: has anyone seen or heard about a USB-based T1/E1 interface device? I've seen some serious T1/E1 testing equipment that is USB-based, but I was wondering if there was something more generic, like a Zaptel-ish T1/E1 that used USB instead of PCI/PCIx. Thanks! -MC -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Questions about PRI lines for modem banks and Asterisk
I have a friend with a PRI coming into a modem bank that is receiving 56K modem calls and some ISDN data calls. He wants to dump his analog office phone lines and use some of the capacity on the PRI. I have been digging through the mail archives and Wiki site on this subject but the information I found doesn't give me a high enough confidence to go buy a few T1 cards and try it out.

Eicon equipment, BRI Server or PRI?
Hello Everyone, I am once again wondering about EICON. I have had no success with the Diva Pro or Diva Pro PCI, so my question is, does anyone use an Eicon Server BRI card on Asterisk? Or would I be better off trying to get a split PRI? Regards, Greg

Pinouts for T1/E1 crossover cable WAS "RE: what cable to connect a legacy PBX to a TE410P ?"
Can't anyone stop self-promotion and tell the poor guy what he needs. A T1/E1 X-over cable using an RJ-45 (8-cond.) is pinned out as follows: 1 - 4 2 - 5 3 - NU 4 - 1 5 - 2 6 - NU 7 - NU 8 - NU NU = Not Used I have not in my experience seen any problems with using a Good Quality Cat5 vs. Cat 3 (telco standard) cable for X-connects. YMMV, but you should be fine. As far as the shielding

PRI and echocancel
Hello, I have a crossover PRI(Asterisk server to PBX) and a regular telco PRI T1 line and currently have echocancel=yes and echocancelwhenbridged=yes on those spans in zapata.conf. I was discussing CPU load with another Asterisk user and he mentioned that PRIs don't need echo cancelation and that turning it off will reduced CPU load on the server. I checked many sample configs and the

OT: long - Replacing CD's? was RE: New type of copy-prot ected audio CDs are coming...
It won't be long until big labels attempt to eliminate the digital ins and outs of equipment. The problem they face is most people that currently use a rack system featuring digital interconnects will NEVER revert to an analog only system. I know that I won't! Think back to VHS, BetaMax, SVHS and LaserDisc. VHS has incredible market share because its licensing is open. Betamax was

A real-life production scenario
Since it's all the craze, I might as well post our current Asterisk usage. :-) EQUIPMENT: - Beefyish box (dual Xeon 2.4GHz, gig of RAM, more-than-adequate disk space, etc) in a 1U chassis. - A second, slightly less beefyish box of specs I don't have handy right now, also in a 1U. - 2xTE410P CONNECTIONS: - 1 PRI to telco for local outbound/direct-dial inbound, 300 numbers

T1 vs PRI
Hi, I'm buying an interface for my Toshiba DKT424 to connect to *. Initially it is a trial to route internal calls over our wan. Think of it as a tie trunk between 2 pbxs. I expect to get PRI from the telco our layout will be like this: telco_T1_PRI to * to various PBX or TDM or IAX to * to other pbxs My question is, is there benefits to connecting with PRI over a standard T1 within my
