tcng configuration question??
Greetings all, OK - just started playing around with traffic shaping - have imq and htb and (I think) everything else I need in the kernel and running well. My initial lab task was to protect a H.323 session over a simulated half T1 while adding bulk traffic - got that accomplished after slogging through learning tc and decided in short order that a more intuitive interface would be

iptables mangle table PREROUTING rule with -o flag
Greetings all, I realize from the subject line this makes little sense but here''s the scenario: I''m trying to shape (via priority - not bandwidth) peer to peer traffic from a number of clients. Currently I use an IMQ device to bring all their outbound (inbound to me - outbound to Inet) traffic together to work with policies all at the same time. I''m testing the

monitoring classes
Greetings all, I''ve been searching high and low for any inkling of how people are monitoring classes for long term usage data. I''m thinking something along a script to collect the data for mrtg or perhaps even an snmp module that would present them as interfaces to be polled....has anyone done any work in this area? Error Starting Samba
I got a copy of the latest samba build from the samba site, v4.1.11. I compiled and installed it with the default options on OpenIndiana 151.1.8. I previously had samba installed from the openindiana repository but this stopped working after my windows folks made security changes to AD. I suspect the older version of samba in the repo 3.5.21-0.151.1.8 lacks certain functionality to enable it to

Confused about prerequisites for ZFS to work
I''m hoping to get some general clues about what all is required to get an experiment going with zfs. I''ve managed to install osol-11 in a vmware on windowsXP host from a recent *.iso. I''m following along with Simon''s blog showing how to set up ZFS. I''m newbie with both ZFS and Solaris but the instructions seem pretty clear. However I''m

Why does disable loading of zfs module in boot causes
Hello, I tried to disable loading of the zfs module by adding "exclude zfs" in /etc/system. I rebooted and got into "maintainance mode" with many services disbaled (as svcs -xv shows). I don''t have any zfs partitons on this machine. So my question is: for what is the zfs module in booting of solaris ? Why can''t it be disabled? Regards, David This message

PHP API for Manager - Plaintext auth needed?
Quick question: My PHP script is now able to connect to the manager port and successfully authenticate using MD5. I would strongly prefer not to do plaintext authentication at all. Would anyone object to plaintext authentication being left out? -- JustThe.net Internet & Multimedia Svcs. Samba / rsync / archival storage question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, Let me start by saying that this may not be, strictly speaking, a Samba question... but it very nearly is so I'm hoping you can offer some help. I have a couple of Solaris 10 machines with the Oracle-supplied Samba on them. I'm looking to copy logs from BIND to an archival storage location. Solaris 10 does not support SMBFS so far as

Question about file ownership on destination
Hello Regarding ownership on the destination: rsync's man page indicates that when synchronizing files to a remote host, -o implies the --numeric-ids option, which makes perfect sense aince the named users/groups may not exist on the destination host. The problem I have is that the files created on the destination still appear to be owned by the local user (server1) on the rsync
